They give you a refund of 10% if you spent more than $500!

I communicated with Island Importers in regards to a refund, and they are not offering that promotion anymore :(! BUT, they are now offering a $75 credit to items on their site for posting pictures to them. Better than nothing :)! Thanks for the advice!

    Jen

Depends on how large your party is . . .Cecilia showed us our 'backup plan'. It was the use of one of their ballroom areas, which was very fancy and nice. She did not even mention using a restaurant, maybe because we had 45 people?!?!? I am not sure. Maybe you should clarify that with her. Once you arrive she will show you all the locations too :)! It will all be fine, I promise!! Even when it did rain down there, it lasted so briefly. I pray for sunny skies for ya'll!

    More questions from me...

    • Anyone had purchased/seen the "COOL FIREWORK"?  it's optional for $280.50, not sure how long would it last or if it worth the price...We had originally purchased the real fireworks package. It was approx 5 seconds for almost $800, but I didnt care because I love real fireworks. The day before the wedding, Cecilia informed me they could not get the permit to do the real fireworks, but they would subsitute with the cold fireworks package. I was pretty upset about it, especially since I had this in my contract since February, but what could I do at this point, right? The cold fireworks turned out very nice though, and a lot cheaper. I am posting a photo with them, from our first dance together.
    • Lighting at the Gazebo area.  Not sure if there's enough light for dinner reception there? We upgraded to the 30 lanterns, but there were also other lights put up also. PLENTY of light! However, I dont know how it looks without the lanterns. BUT, I do know they do everything to make it look great, so I am sure there is plenty of standard pole lighting included.
    • "Lightings for tables is $40 each"... anyone had done that... please send me picture for reference. We did not do this, but I would if I did it again! I brought my own submersible LED lights for the floral centerpieces that Mayan Floral added for me, but they did not illuminate as much as I wanted them too. I added  a photo...perhaps if you used mulitple would work better.
    • or my another option is "Pole with 12 white round lamps" for $200 (lpls send me picture if you had this b4) Sorry, I can not help with this one :(
    • Cocktail hours will be on the beach... do you know if there will be seating provided on the site? Ours was not on the beach, cant help here either. But I do know they set up cocktail (high) tables!

    thanks.....funkydoll

One more question, you said that you found your travel agent through the resort facebook page.  Were they located in Texas?  Do you recommend them?  Did they help you with any of the contract negotiation stuff?  Any advice is appreciated!  I have a travel agent I have worked with for other weddings that I have attended in the past, but she seems to only know about the travel side of things (which is what I expect & she is great, but just curious if there is another option out there).

My travel agent was located in North Carolina. He did not really help with any of the wedding planning at all, but put me in touch with the right person. He just negotiated the lowest price for our resort pricing, and I compared it EVERYWHERE and couldnt find it any cheaper :) Definitely worth pricing it out with him at the very least!

I like the cathedral veil with lace. Very dramatic and pretty! And I'm usually pro-sash (I'll be wearing one) but I think your dress doesn't need one. Pretty enough without! You look fab-- congrats!

I LOVE the cathedral veil with lace too! If it were me, I would wear the dramatic veil for the ceremony and photos. Then I would remove the veil completely, and add the sash :)

Thanks.  Yes, I would like to know the eyeliner and especially mascara.  No matter what mascara I use, I often end up with dark circles under my eyes from it.  While I don't have an oily face, I think the area around my eyes is an exception.  Eyeshadow always creases on me, as well, no matter the type or brand.

Make sure to hydrate under your eyes, a good eye cream is by MAC, then do concealer on top. I always use a primer on my eyes to resist the crease, I like the eye primer by Too Faced.

Oh wow!! Thank you for that tidbit of information. I just emailed them. We spent close to $1200 with them for everyone's clothes, that would be a nice refund right about now :)! GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS. My boys really liked the quality of their items!

what makeup do you think will not "melt" (or last longer) air brushing? Regular makeup?

What do you recommend? Anyone test this out yet?

    Thanks!!

I went to Sephora pre-wedding, and had a two hour consultation (and spent $400) on an entire new face. The hourglass veil primer and the Makeup Forever Base and Powder worked amazingly, and looked flawless! I also love the Too Faced bronzer, very natrual and long lasting.

The spa at my resort did have all MAC products, but I chose to use my own primer, base, powder, and bronzer, and just let them do my eyes!!!  It is inevitable you will sweat, and cry, but this makeup withstood it pretty well! Good luck!

    • Beach Ceremony - Sound System Service. All i need is download some music on my ipod.. and they have a ipod dock for it? Cecilia picked up my ipod in my room also, right before the ceremony.  I had created a folder for Ceremony music with five subfolders with the music I had selected for easy recognition:

    1) Guest Seating Processional (Marry Me by Train, Somewhere over the Rainbow, and Better Together by Jack Johnson)

    2) Family Processional (My groom walked his family to their seats to "Lord Protect My Child" by Susan Tedeschi)

    3) Wedding Party Entrance  (We had 5 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen and they all walked down paired together to Instrumental Version of "A Little Help From My Friends" - Beatles)

    4) Bride Entrance (Instrumental Version of Crazy Love - Van Morrison)

    5) Recessional (as we kissed, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder)

    •
    • How many songs i need before the ceremony start? We had three songs for guests seating, which was plenty.
    • I'm debating to upgrade my dinner menu to Platinum... not sure if the resort will charge you for menu tasting? If I am not mistaken, you may choose some items to sample from the menu if you arrive 4 days prior to the event. Or at least, that was how Cecilia explained it to us. We did arrive in ample time to taste and had the same dilemma as you. However, we kept the Gold menu, it was our favorite.

Thanks in advance for those who have an answers for these...

I might have more questions later..... ;p

    Congratulations!!

Your wedding looked absolutely stunning!  And I love all the small details you incorporated.  Have a few questions for you...

    1) I love the chinese lanterns, but they are pretty pricey in the sheet of upgrades from Cecilia.  Like $350 for 15!! Did you order them through the resort?  Or did you bring your own?  We upgraded through the resort. They were VERY pricey, when I know you could do it much less expensive on your own, but they require you go through them for it, as they have to install the electricity to light them and the poles. Absolutely worth the upgrade.

    2) Your OOT bags are fantastic!!  Can you send me details on where you had the cards created, and the bags?  Thank you so much!!  I printed everything through Vistaprint, and had the bags made from discountmugs.com. They were very inexpensive. if you have any specific other questions, please feel free to email me at [email protected]

THANK YOU!!! Please see I answered above in red (Cecilia style, LOL)!

    Hi Cherina!

I utilized one of the FREE Vistaprint offers (practically everything I made was free, and only paid for shipping) for a FREE small poster. Then I just designed it with my logo and my wording. Once it came in, I bought a clear acrylic photo frame that matched the size. I used this so that it would make travel MUCH EASIER, and not break :)! I then added to all the side borders rhinestone mesh and used glue dots as adhesive. It was so inexpensive to make, about $10 total, and worked beautifully!

Please PM if you have any more questions! Love to help!

We flew United . . .They allowed me to carry on my dress and a large beach bag (that I just put my purse in, so I didnt have 3 items). They were great about letting me hang my dress in the 1st Class Closet.

  14. Miscellaneous Wedding . . .
