  1. The Monique Lhuillier Miranda dress is a dream! I wore it in October 2012 for my beach wedding in Mexico. It was gorgeous and I recieved nonstop compliments. The Alencon lace is a work of art. Many are familiar with this dress -- it's a form-fitting, V-neck and V-back sheath with exquisite ivory Alecon lace that lays over an ivory silk slip. This dress is ivory. The dress hugs the body in a very flattering way, with a skirt that flairs out at the knees, along with a delicate curve to the train from the back. I purchased the dress brand new from Saks for $5,000. I am 5'9 (so 6'0 in heels)and a street size 6. Because of my height, you will likely need to hem the length. This dress is a size 10, but it was altered down in the bust/waist. My seamstress added cups in the bust, which can be removed by your seamstress/tailor. This dress has no stains or lace tears that I can see. I love this dress so much but know I'll never wear it again. Would be thrilled for someone else to wear it. Please with any other questions at all. I will add more photos once I reecive the professional photos. I am in New York City, so if you are interested in seeing it in person, I am happy to set that up. 2. Hello... my wedding is now 99 days out, which means it's time to crank up the diet/excercise. I lost about 15 pounds through WeightWatchers about five years ago and then gradually lost another 10 over the past five years. My FI lost about 30 pounds in five months through strict low carb w/ one cheat day per week about two years ago. But we both want to lose about 5-10 more for wedding. I already exercise 4-5x a week and try to eat a high protein, lower carb diet. Not sure where to take this next! I do still indulge in wine/drinks a few nights a week so I may cut it out entirely soon. I'm also trying to eliminate sugar but it's soooo hard. I love kale now and have been eating kale salads almost everyday. I also find writing a workout plan each week helps you stick to your schedule.
  3. Very pretty & beachy!! 4 weeks... you must be getting so excited!
  4. Yeah I don't know if we'll do it or not. I definitely want him in a slimmer cut and trying to avoid the tan suit (which I initially loved!). So maybe a more subtle blue one.
  5. Hi there... We actually went suit shopping yesterday, intending to look at the tan/khaki linen suits at Brooks Brothers, Lord & Taylor and JCrew. And we did, but we also got drawn into the classic seersucker suit too. But thinking we may do that for rehearsal dinner night. My FI is basically letting me dress him too, so I was very surprised when he got excited about this suit (pictured below). Not what I expected at all! And after some thought & discussion, it has grown on me. Probably not the bowtie, but the rest of the suit would work. It would be SO unique, which I love and he seems happy. And more formal than the tan suit. Still not sure if we pull the trigger though.
  6. Donna & Shan -- it's made by Monique Lhuillier. I tried it on and tried for 3 weeks to forget about it (due to price) and searched high/low for a used one. Alas, I decided to pay full price and just be excited about it. I love it. And I may sell it afterward (if I can part with it)...
  7. Mlite83, that's beautiful, very beachy. I found the one below over the weekend and ordered it to try on. It's on sale from Trina Turk, and has a very "Mexico" look I think and would be quite comfortable.
  8. Thank you! The fb page is helpful for ideas. I chose Styling Trio too.
  9. Love those Jamaica save-the-dates. Seller is talented!
  10. Meagan, I love yours! I am wondering what you all think. Many of you have posted (super cute) white dresses. While I love them, I feel like I should "save" the white attire for the wedding. Did any of you consider this? It just occurred to me and I'm curious what people think. Separately, I fell in love with this Lilly Pulitzer dress a couple weeks ago. It seems perfect for a beach wedding event, so maybe rehearsal dinner or maybe our Thursday cocktail event. Not sure if you can see in photo, but there are white starfish between the pink/navy. I just love it.(not me in photo of course!)
  11. I have decided not to wear a veil. I have no real excitement about wearing one and the fact that it's the only time I get to do it, doesn't really matter to me. I'm much more excited to wear my hair up in kind of a messy updo, with a flower on the side. I think that will complement the beach wedding perfectly. I know most brides do wear one, and I think they are absolutely beautiful on some women, it just wasn't something I wanted to do.
  12. this is my dress... I cannot wait for it to come in and try it on again (just a few weeks!)
  13. Just had to share this article from NY magazine this week. It's a humorous look at how much a person should drink at a wedding, based on their relationship to the bride/groom. It's a fun read and gave me a good laugh: http://newyork.grubstreet.com/2012/06/guide-to-drinking-at-weddings.html
  14. My guess is that a tip would be most appreciated, but a small token in addition like flowers or candy might be a nice touch.
  15. I love this welcome bag! The words to "i Carry Your Heart" are inside the starfish. http://www.etsy.com/listing/95052382/beach-gift-or-wedding-welcome-tote-bag-i?ref=pr_faveitems
  16. We are leaning heavily toward holding our rehearsal dinner at Alux Cave. Would be curious about any brides' reviews/experiences with this. The photos are fantastic and I love how unique it is. I also find the menu a bit difficult for a large group and want to hear more about the poor ventilation referenced above. Thanks in advance!
  17. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded on a monthly basis for past 4-5 years. And every other time I will get the upper lip done. For me, it does hurt a lot but it is quick. Like you are in the salon for a total of 10 minutes, including saying hello and payment. The results are beautiful and worth the short-term pain, in my opinion.
  18. palmsnsand -- I agree with you. We toured the Rosewood and it is absolutely gorgeous. But the room restrictions were difficult. I would definitely stay there with my future husband on another trip but would not work for the group wedding. Which place did you end up choosing?
  19. Gorgeous color and photos! I especially love the one with couple's back to the camera.... This makes me so happy I booked Del Sol for my wedding. 100% at ease with this decision.
