  1. I have began my Etsy shopping!!! So far this is what I have purchased....can't wait to get some more stuff!!! Flower Girl Tutu Bought this for our flower girl to wear, i am SOOO excited about it - haven't received it yet as I just purchased it but the seller has been wonderful to work with thus far http://www.etsy.com/listing/77293332/vibrant-violet-tutu-plum-purple-lavender Iron-On transfers Bought iron on transfers from this seller (bridalblingshoppe) to make our own bridal party shirts and other items, she was awesome to work with and did all kinds of modifications such as changing the dot on the "I" to a purple heart, etc.... http://www.etsy.com/listing/85195484/iron-on-rhinestone-transfer-bride-with Garter Set in our wedding colours instead of these but same flowers - great seller, easy to work with and did modifications for me without any issues http://www.etsy.com/listing/97303469/hot-pink-and-purple-wedding-garter-set
  2. I can't see your link but I got a response with chair bow colours available from planner Victoria and didn't see purple so when I messaged her back saying our colour was purple and we would bring our own she said they had them and emailed me a picture. Perhaps you could double check with her and see if they have the colour or not.
  3. Congrats to you! Another Calgary girl here! ) So I did a bunch of investigating myself on different resort websites, they usually have wedding package prices posted so we did a bunch of comparisons. I guess first off deciding if you want a big resort or small resort is important...we wanted/needed a bigger one so I checked with Dreams, Sandos, Barcelo, Majestic and a few others. The cost of the package and extras were very important to us, as well I really wanted a beautiful gazebo. I found the resorts I liked the gazebos best at and then once we narrowed down the ones we were most fond of we asked for quotes from our travel agent for the different resorts and different airlines. It is a bit of work but I just printed out the packages (usually pdf files) and then had them to lay out in front of us...some of the different resort wedding package costs are literally THOUSANDS more than others. My travel agent has been nothing but fantastic to deal with, if you'd like her information I can forward it on to you. Happy Planning!!!
  4. FYI to anyone interested in a photobook groupon type coupon.... Living Social has one up right now for $18 in Calgary, AB for PhotoBin. I bought one of these before and found the book to be fantastic quality, only downside was the long shipping time, but if you are in no rush then it's no big deal.
  5. I was sent this by our WC Victoria "The wedding package includes: chairs, white cover chairs, bows (white, cream, green, yellow, orange, blue, dark blue, hot pink, red and gold) tables and long table clothes." I messaged her back saying that our colours were purple and teal and would they have anything we could use and she messaged me back that yes they had purple, lol, I was positive I did not see it in her list so I re-read it a few times. If they have your colour in the list then perfect, if it is not I would ask just to make sure. She sent me a picture of the purple and it is perfect!! 6. I know it's not specific to the Tropical, but as mentioned above, the details of the wedding planning and packages is all the same for the Barcelo resorts, whether it be the Palace or Tropical/Colonial. I would suggest you check out the large Barcelo Palace thread on here, it has SOOOOO much valuable information! Happy planning
  7. I'd say go to a bunch and get quotes, don't decide before the quotes! haha! But honestly it's true! Also what is great are the perks that different places give you, such as free rooms or every 6th guests is free or every 21st guest free, etc! Check it all out, some prices per person may be great but their booking process not so fantastic...for us Westjet had great prices but was not a great option due to the fact that they wanted us or one person to manage the group and all deposits being made and such, and I was not willing to be responsible for collecting credit card numbers, money etc! Romantic Planet didn't even respond to my initial email request for over a week and I wasn't even at the point of asking for quotes yet so I just left them as I knew I wanted a company that was on top of requests and didn't take forever to respond. Then again I have a friend who booked with them and has had no issues. I guess it depends on your size of group and other factors as well, but I would say you should definitely do some shopping around, it can't hurt!
  8. Hello! I am a Palace bride as I wanted the Gazebo for our reception but our guests are all staying at the Tropical. I would still definitely check out the Barcelo Palace forums because the packages are the same no matter which resort you are staying at...Coconut, Blueberry, Mint, strawberry, tangerine, chocolate. It also seems not all of the brides are Palace brides and I've noticed that typically the info that they share applies to all weddings at the Barcelo Maya complex. Our wedding is Nov 28th, 2012 and we have a bunch of planning completed already so feel free to ask questions! Good luck and happy planning!!!
  9. We are having just one little girl in our wedding party, she will be our flowergirl, but I am also trying to figure out how we can incorporate the ringbearer duties for her as well. I have been googling my brains out looking for things and can't seem to come up with anything right now other than having her walk the aisle with flowers and someone such as her mom be seated holding the rings in something cute and when its time for the ring exchange she could bring them to us..... this seems sorta boring and not creative at all though, lol! Does anyone have any cute and or creative suggestions of how we can do this?
  10. Fiances suit - $300 Fiances shoes - $80 My shoes - $80 BM dresses - $280 GM outfit - $125 Total that we have paid for - $865 My dress and accessories are being paid for by my mom so they don't really count for this - $1100 plus alterations that are yet to be completed so I don't know the cost
  11. Hi chrisdior, Our wedding is Nov 28th, 2012. Once we had officially booked with our travel agent and had our booking confirmation number they were willing to start planning with us (we booked and paid our deposits in late february). The WC never gave us the option of beaches for dinner but we did choose our cermony location, I didn't realize this until she started asking us about centrepieces and I thought, "Hey, where is our reception anyway?!" I was searching more for Coral Beach pictures and not the grill as we will be right on the beach for dinner. I found some info on the thread but no pictures, I did find a bunch through google images though and we are VERY pleased with our placement!
  12. I will keep my eyes peeled and let you know! I follow the coupons for the photobook deals too, and it's great to hear feedback on a good company as I know some can be a bit lower quality!
  13. I looked everywhere for these and I second SweetLe, I also bought these same wedges from VS, super comfy and cute as well! They have a little bling too! I bought one pair in white and a pair in purple (my colour) and they are going to be SO perfect! Good Luck!
  14. Does anyone have pictures or info on receptions at Coral Beach? I asked my WC when we choose where we would like our reception and was told that we were placed at the Coral Grill...no choice for us! lol! Now I am just trying to find out what this area looks like! Thanks!
  15. We have hired Juan Navarro, his prices are super reasonable and I love his work! Check him out on here or google his name and check out his portfolio and blog! Cheers!
  16. Did everyone choose their flowers before the wedding? My coordinator (Victoria) has sent me an email with an attachment with examples of bouquets but I wasn't sure if this meant I needed to choose a bouquet now or if she was just showing me examples. Thanks!!
  17. Do you mind sharing where you purchased the flower girl dress from? Thanks!
  18. I'm not sure when you are coming to Calgary (or if you have already been here) but Mena's is a great place, although I wasn't able to find "the one" for me there. There is also another place called EverAfter Bridal and its on 16th Ave just north of Mena's (a few minutes drive) and they have a good selection at great prices. Where I got my dress from was NoviaMia (google or fb the company) and I was SOOOOO impressed with her service, she will have whatever you want made for you! Check her out! You need to make an appointment but she is flexible and I am sure if you tell her you are coming from out of town she will work with you. I had an idea of what I wanted and lots of pics and she is making it come to life!
  19. Just a word of caution...I do have friends who have convertible dresses that are somewhat similar to the Henkaa but I can assure you they are not the same - they don't fit the same and are not the same material, the Henkaa is much nicer. So if you try on a convertible dress and do not like it I wouldn't write off ALL convertible dresses!
  20. It seems to be the census that the dance floor is not really necessary, thanks for the feedback ladies! That sure saves us a bunch of $$$!
  21. I just purchased these for my girls and gave them to them yesterday! I can't say what their feedback has been as I haven't recieved any yet, hopefully that means everything is perfect! haha! I can say that they are made well, the material is good quality, not a jersey cotton type material but a more slinky, flowy material. They are made with lots of material so there is sufficient coverage, I can imagine they would be perfect on any shape! I am pretty sure the only store that they have them at is in Ontario in Canada, I am from Canada and couldn't try before we bought either. They do have a decent return policy though, so you can always buy just one and see how everyone likes it and if it doesn't work you would only have one to return instead of a bunch! They have been offering free sample swatches recently, which is how I confirmed I wanted the dress for sure as the plum colour was perfect! I also got a few other colors and all of them were very nice!
  22. OOOH I love these! Do you have them yet, how comfy are they?
