  1. I'm looking for a sash for my wedding gown. It needs to be diamond white or light ivory in colour, with crystals and/or a large flower. I don't mind if it's preloved or new, as long as it's in perfect condition. Thanks!
  2. Ooh, they are very pretty - thanks for the tip!
  3. I'm also interested in a smaller amount of the red petals. (Any idea how much is enough to scatter on the aisle runner?) Thanks, Sarah
  4. How long has it been without a response? A week now? I think it's more than fair to email her back. I know it's stressful waiting to get that date nailed down so keep on her.
  5. Hi ShayF, Nicole is that slow, slower even. I believe it's just her and an assistant who take care of all the weddings at the Suites, so they're busy AND run on 'island time'. Keep on her with email, and some women here have had luck getting a phone card and calling when absolutely needed throughout the planning stages. When I was trying to book my wedding, the whole process took about 3 weeks, from my initial email, to her confirming receipt of the official form and confirmation of our date. Good luck!
  6. Hi Norma, I remember seeing your original dress post and you looked beautiful then, but wow, good for you for you! I admire your hard work and dedication, I know weight loss isn't easy. Recently I purchased my wedding gown from a sample sale, and it's a couple of sizes too small and I too am bound and determined to lose the weight vs. having to let it out. I've got the working out part down pat and have been researching cleanses and I would love to know about the program you followed. Would you PM me the details pls? Thanks, and congrats again! Sarah
  7. Thanks Stella. You are right, I purchased it 'as is' but I guess I never expected a sample sale dress would be missing something. I've continued to call/email the store. They haven't returned my calls, but their last email said they were still looking. I will keep on them for sure - at the very least I would like them to contact the designer and request a replacement.
  8. Helpful, thank you! We too have planned on a 4pm ceremony, however I just checked a number of sites for the sunset time on Dec 3/12, and I'm getting a range from 5:22-5:34pm. That's not much time to get in all the photos I know I'm going to want. I like the idea of 3pm too - extra time for photos, any 'island time' delays, and maybe a few private minutes with my groom between the ceremony and dinner. Thank you again!!
  9. Oh cool! I actually stopped into RW & Co. a few weeks ago asking about their 2012 bridesmaid line... and the sales lady had NO idea what I was talking about. I haven't been back since but with all the spring/summer dresses coming out now, I'll take a look again. (I'm in Toronto ) Thanks for your help and feedback! Sarah
  10. Beautiful!! I came across your post as we're seriously considering booking Merrick - and after viewing your and JayKay's pics, I think we're decided. I love his style and how he captures the emotions of every moment. Question for you - where did you get your bridesmaid dresses? Thanks! Sarah
  11. Yay! You must be so glad to finally have them huh? I've viewed them all - beautiful...everything! You, your dress, the love of your family and friends. I teared up when I got to the photos of your MoH's speech. If you have any more feedback on Merrick, let me know, otherwise I think we're going to book him! Congrats again!! Sarah
  12. Thanks for your feedback ladies. Good idea about the price drop protection offer - definitely something I'd like for our guests. I'm regularly getting quotes so hopefully they'll get down to a number we're happy with in the next few months, which still gives us plenty of time.
  13. I recently attended a bridal show where a local bridal salon was having a sample sale...and I found my dress! It wasn't one I'd seen or tried on before so it was a crazy, wonderful surprise, if not a little stressful too - there was only one, and it meant taking it home with me that night! I absolutely love it though, it's the perfect combination of everything I wanted, and the only thing I would do to it, is add a sash. The labels had been removed from the dress, so I called the store in the following days to ask who designed it, and found out it's a Sottero & Midgley. I then looked it up online only to get another surprise - it comes with a beautiful sash and exactly what I wanted! So I called the store back and they said they weren't sure where it was, or if they even still had it, but that they'd take a look around. The store isn't getting back to me, which I take as a sign that they don't have it. I understand that the risk of buying a sample dress is that it likely won't be perfect, but is it right that an element of the dress is missing entirely? Has anyone encountered a similar situation? They are an authorized distributor of Sottero & Midgley dresses and they would have received the dress with the sash, so I feel they owe me a sash. I'm even willing to consider a different one. My first thought was to contact the manufacturer and ask if the retailer is responsible for selling me the complete dress (even as a sample) but I can't find any contact info - they defer consumers to their local authorized retailers. I would imagine all authorized retailers are supposed to sell the dresses as designed by the manufacturer, or find a solution if they can't (e.g., request another belt) which I will ask of the salon…if they ever get back to me… Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
  14. Hi! Thanks for the offers of help, and thanks very much for sharing your experience with rates. I'm not really stressed about waiting (saying this with just less than 10 months to go) but we'll see how I'm feeling come June! I've already told our guests that we might not see rates we're happy with for several months, and most are appreciative as they want to get the best deal they can. Of course there are a handful who are anxious to book too. My date is right around the same time as yours so from a time of year perspective (shoulder season) I find this especially helpful. Fingers crossed I can hold off as long as possible! Thanks again!
  15. I should've pointed out that those were Toronto rates (for anyone non-TO reading)...sorry about that. I'm leaning more and more towards forgetting the group quote and just watching rates and letting everyone know when they're down to go ahead and book online, with a travel agent, whatever they like. I know some ppl want to go with Air Canada, others don't care... maybe it's just easiest for everyone to do their own thing. I may secure an agent to assist the ppl who want to work with a person (vs online) and that way everyone can still book through one individual.
  16. Hi BrideMichyBoo, Just wanted to let you know that WestJet vacations released their rates for late 2012, and I checked on our dates (just prior to yours) and the rates, with tax, are just over $1800. Sure enough, they're coming down bit by bit!
  17. Yay! Congratulations! Have the time of your life - can't wait to see pics and hear about it when you're back!
  18. Yay! I hear you Kim - we got engaged in Sept and now we've less than 10 mos to go! Feeling a bit of pressure to make decisions and get stuff done too...time to step it up! Here's to time going by...but not too quick.
  19. I'm finding the same rates and feeling the same way BrideMB. We purposely chose shoulder season for better rates - 2K+ is way over what we want our guests to pay too. I think we just have to wait it out and keep getting quotes. We're prepared to just forget the group booking and go with individual bookings if the rates are better once they come out in the coming months.
  20. Congrats!! We're exactly a week later at the Suites! 21. Hi all, Our wedding is 10 months from today at the Suites (woot!) and I'm wondering what others have done regarding providing Nicole with ceremony, reception, welcome party, etc. choices in advance. I know there's lots of time, but we basically already know what we want to do when and where. Do you recommend emailing Nicole with our requests now? Is it best to use the final details sheet? I'm thinking it might be as it's in a format she and Tiffany are very familiar with. I'd prefer to send our requests in sooner then later in case there are questions or requests that can't be met for whatever reason. It would give us a chance to make alternate choices early on (if needed) rather than plan for something that we find out at the 11th hour that we can't do. I'd appreciate any guidance in this matter - thanks in advance! Oh, and if we should start using the final details form now, would someone be so kind to share it with me? Thanks!
  22. Thanks Julie. I'm planning on doing that already myself (as opposed to paying the photog to do it). I follow a forum for my venue, and a bride noted that she asked her WC if one of the entertainment staff could record the ceremony on the bride's vidcam, and they happily agreed. She gave him a nice tip afterwards. I might go that route, or see if another guest would be willing to do it. I'm sure someone would be cool with it.
