  1. Oh no!!! I def. understand the need to decompress and cool off. I'm dying to hear what happened though!! I'm so sorry you had to deal with so much stress and problems with the reception Whenever you feel up to it, please give us the details. I've been feeling confident recently because Valeria has been on top of everything, but it sounds like that means nothing, and the competence of the resort staff is everything. We have to pay our tab in full at the resort in a little over a week, so if there is anything I should know about and possibly cancel with my reception before I pay in full, please let me know!!
  2. UGH - that is so frustrating! I hate having hair issues and totally understand why you would be freaking out. I hope the toner works out for you. I, also, would have though putting in a darker low light vs. applying more toner would have been a good option, but I'm not a hairdresser, so what do I know. Keep us posted. I'm sorry you are dealing with this right now! So stressful!!!
  3. Is anyone providing their guests with fans for the ceremony or reception? I'm considering if they are worth buying... Our wedding is going to be at the end of June and I'm sure it's going to be insanely hot and humid, so maybe they would be a good idea? Or, perhaps all they will do is push around the hot air, so not worth the hassle? Any feedback would be helpful
  4. Has anyone heard anything regarding the safety of personal items being left in the rooms? We are planning on bringing a portable ipod player to have music at the pool and I assume it will be too big to fit in the safe for when we aren't using it and leave it in the room. The player was like $150, so it's not something I'd be happy about getting stolen... I'm wondering if maybe it's not even a good idea to bring it?
  5. UGH that is so frustrating. That's insane that they hadn't booked a flight and you are like 3 weeks out... we have a few guests who are waiting on booking their flights and I have a sneaking suspicion that they may fall out last minute as well. We've followed up with them numerous times to remind them that we are finalizing things and will be paying for all this stuff for each guest (I think they think we aren't paying for anything since it's an all inclusive), and they assure me they are coming, but they haven't paid for their rooms yet, or purchased flights. SO FRUSTRATING!!!
  6. From what I remember, Valeria gave me the option of having our guests set up our decorations themselves. That's so weird that Natalia said the helpers would interfere with the workers... I think I remember reading previous posts on this thread where people said they had their family members set up the "outside decorations" they brought and there was no issue. Hopefully you can figure it all out!!
  7. This is really interesting. Valeria is charging me $5 per guest for the set up fee (for both the ceremony and reception). She just sent me the spreadsheet and confirmed that price. We have 30+ guests going so the fee is gong to be at least $150. I'm going to email her about your $60 total fee for the set up and see what she says. Why can't they keep things consistent? It seems shady that they are quoting different things to different people...
  8. Thank you for the info. Did you read that review about the classical guitarist on this thread? I better go back and read it if so! We were considering having the guitarist if he'd play the songs we want. I was a little nervous about it though, especially considering it's $600 for 45 minutes of playing! Maybe reading that review will make my decision for me lol. Also, what brand/model was the ipod player you got from Costco that works well? We are going to get one to bring down with us, so any insight on what is good to purchase is helpful!
  9. If you use your own photographer, you will have to pay the outside vendor fee which I believe is either $500 or $800 (I know, ridiculous). The only way around this is if that individual stays at the resort for 3+ nights. If they do, the fee is waived. Our photographer is staying the required amount of nights, so luckily we won't have to pay that fee.
  10. Are any of you ladies planning excursions (snorkeling, archeological, etc) for your trip, or planning on going out to Playa or Cancun to check out the bar scene any of the nights you are there (or perhaps you have done this on a previous trip)? I have some questions, so I'm just curious... We just had two more guests fall out today (and I sort of expect more to once payment in full comes due next month). So disappointing... Lastly, is everyone playing an ipod for the ceremony, or did anyone reserve the classical guitarist?
  11. It might be a little awkward to ask for the switch, but if you aren't getting the attention you need, it seems like it would be worth a try. This is a time where you need all the assistance, information and support you can get!!
  12. Oohhh - I love these!! Maybe I'll have to change my mind on wearing flat sandals and go with these instead!!
  13. Ashbrooke - looks beautiful!!!! I'm curious about the cost of the pads too. Also, how much are the chiavari chairs?
  14. Emailing both (pics and playlist) would be amazing! Do you still have my email from the 'wedding schedule' spreadsheet you sent me? Also, how did you give the DJ your songs - did you email them to him, bring a CD, or...? Thanks!!
  15. I keep getting an error message when trying to view your photos saying I don't have the correct "permission" to see them. Does anyone know how I can get around this? Thanks!
  16. We also were planning on having Sinatra-style music during dinner...Maybe that's not the best idea? Would you be able to send me (or post) your play list of music? I am just strating to organize mine...
  17. I haven't decided on shoes yet, but I was looking at these (from victoria's secret online). Did everyone decide their shoes after deciding on their accessories, or vice versa?
