  1. I don't know - Valeria just said "Bach Bar" she pointed it out to me on the map. It does look like it's right by JoJos. Cool - that sounds like fun! It is central, so that is nice. Thanks!!
  2. Great question. I also am curious about what to do with the groom on the day-of. I was just going to have him get ready in one of the groomsmen's rooms, but now that you mention it, I sort of remember reading somewhere a while back that they do provide a room for the groom. Maybe I'm making that up? If anyone knows, please advise. Thanks
  3. Has anyone been to the Beach Bar? Any comments on if that would be a good place for our guests to go after our ceremony as they wait for our reception at Tucanes? Also, a non-wedding related question, does anyone know if they play music at any of the pools during the day? Perhaps at the main pool? If not, I was considering bringing a BOSE portable player for ipods for our guests to play some music. I would assume they won't let us do that, but I'm curious if anyone else has tried and maybe succeeded?
  4. You are amazing! What a nice offer! If you remember, would you take some pics of the Beach Bar? Our WC just recommended that bar to our guests as a place to go after our ceremony (as guests wait for the reception to begin). I've never seen it, so I'm curious what it's like.
  5. We held only the amount of rooms that we thought we'd be able to fill. Now that those have filled up, I am telling guests that there is no rooms being held for them, so they need to get on making their reservations ASAP. It's kind of a bummer to have to bug people about it, but I didn't want to get stuck paying for rooms we couldn't fill. My guests are also taking different flights, so everyone is doing their airfare on their own.
  6. Oh and we aren't going to cover our chairs either. I really, really like the chiavari chairs, but my fiance was like we are not spending $12 to rent a chair with 60 guests... I guess I agree. While we are on the topic, I asked a while back about pricing on plate chargers. I was told they were $12 (or maybe it was $13) per charger! That's to rent them! I couldn't believe it. If you go online you can find the exact same one's to purchase for $2. I just thought that price mark-up was hilarious...
  7. I am from Carpinteria, CA which is 10 min. south of Santa Barbara. I also (like TheWolferts) went with the Lobster and Filet as one option for our guests and the Mahi Mahi as the second option. I was a little nervous about offering so much seafood, however I've heard really good things about both dishes, so I went with it
  8. Hey ladies, Wow - so there are a lot of us getting married soon!! Yay!! I can't wait to hear the reviews and see all of the pictures It sounds like the first is 'Stina9562' on April 20, then 'TheWolferts' on May 12, then 'Alison04' on May 30, myself on June 30, and 'AllieH' on November 5. Is there anyone I missed?
  9. So, the credit is based on whoever stays the least amount of days, and the cheapest room category? So, if one of our guests is staying in the Jacuzzi Jr. Suite for three nights and this happens to be the guest who is staying for the shortest amount of time, we (bride and groom) will get however much it costs to stay in a jacuzzi jr. suite for three nights credited to our stay? That's pretty lame. Especially for those of us who are bringing tons of guests to the resort and all but one are staying five to seven days...
  10. That is adorable!! I love it - so cute!! Are you going to use those stands (pictured to the right) for the table numbers? I think we are going to use these place card holders: http://www.favorsandflowers.com/coral-place-card-holders.htm and I was thinking I'd somehow tweak the place cards to reflect each dinner option. Also, for favors, I think we are going to get maracas. I found this adorable place that makes them in Mexico. For anyone who might be interested, here is the site: http://mishkadesignspv.blogspot.com/p/maraca-designs.html. We are only going ot do one maraca per guest because they are a little pricey, but they are so stinking cute, I had to have them Yay! I'm getting so excited!!!
  11. Did any of the brides who have already been married at the resort have their hair down for their wedding? I'm wondering if it's gong to be too humid for my hair to be down (i.e. it will get frizzy and lose the loose curls I want to have)... Also, if anyone had their makeup done at the salon at EDR, how did you like it? Can you send or direct me to a picture of how it looked? Thank you
  12. I asked Valeria about the $5 set up fee and it is per guest, not per item. Also, I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it as of yet, but Valeria told me that I need to bring a marker that indicates the food selection for each guest (for a plated dinner). I guess those are not provided by the resort. So, for example, if someone is having lobster, their place card will have a certain look or design on it; for guests having mahi mahi, their cards will reflect a different design. (If you are having buffet you won't need this.) Just an FYI.
  13. I kept getting an error message when I was trying to send this, so I'm not sure if it is going to end up getting sent twice. Anyways, thanks for the idea with the battery tealights - I'm definitely going to look into that. I was just told that we need to bring our own cards that specify which plate should go to each guest. Can you tell me what you did for your food selection cards? Do you have any pics of your reception that you can share (I saw the one's on your review, but I don't think many were from the reception...)? I'm curious how they set everything up... I was also just told that they re-did the Tucanes area and now it's larger than before. Was the new area there when you had your reception? Also, did you get candle bags or tiki torches? Thanks!!
  14. Can anyone tell me about walking in the sand with either heels or sandals on? Is it comfortable or uncomfortable in either? I'm wondering if sand gets stuck in the shoes, or perhaps kicked up as you walk (if you are wearing flip flops)? Thanks!
  15. Great idea on the battery tealights - I'm going to look into that. Thanks!! Just curious - were they playing "recent" music at the disco or was it sort of older songs (like from a few months ago)? Did you ever try to make a request or give them music to play (like from an ipod)? I don't mean after your wedding, I just mean in general. Also, is there music playing at the main pool? Thanks
  16. I can't wait to hear about your time too Angi111111!! Please let us know how everything went once you are back!!
  17. You guys look great!! Love the flowy-ness of both dresses. Beautiful!! I'm also going to wear sandals with my dress because they are comfy! We are going to have our reception at the Tucanes bar as well, so I'll be excited to see your pictures and hear how everything went!
