  1. The stickers are being shipped today and I should have them by this weekend. I'll post a photo once I get the sticker on the mug. I have not done the whole process yet but I'll let you know how it goes. I did check and they will fit in my carry-on with all of the other fragile stuff I'm bringing to Mexico. I feel like it will go smoothly, but I've never done this before.
  2. Great Thread! You have such a beautiful family! Thanks for sharing your DIY and your photos.
  3. Just to follow up... got my mugs in the mail today. They were shipped with no extra padding and just in these white individual boxes. All of them shipped without any damage. I wanted to get them in before recomending the site & now that they are here I'd highly recommend this site! They look great and are a good quality mug that will keep drinks from turning warm after 5 minutes in the Mexico sun Also, they shipped in 3 business day. http://thebestgeneralstore.ecrater.com/p/7373381/wholesale-lot-of-24-stainless-steel-travel
  4. I'm just starting to get items for our bags and found these great mugs. They were just delivered today and they are a really good stainless steel quality. I was a little nervous at first because the selling website did not have many reviews - but I'm happy to report that they are awesome to work with. Everything went smoothly & I got the mugs really really fast. I'm so happy! They are come in a box of 24 for $56.99 & $15.50 s+h (set price for s+h and the box weighed 15 lbs). For my small group of 20 this low minimum purchase is great because customizing stainless steel mugs is very expensive with a 50 mug min. purchase most of the time. I don't drink much on vacation but when I do have a drink I like it to stay cold & not get warm in the first 5 minutes. That and I know some of my guests drink coffee all day long (so having these mugs will be awesome for them). They come in individual white boxes which I may put a ribbon around. Photo with my iPhone. http://thebestgeneralstore.ecrater.com/p/7373381/wholesale-lot-of-24-stainless-steel-travel To personalize the mug we are putting these 2.25" waterproof stickers on the side. These are not our stickers but they are from the Esty company I purchased them from (link below). I measured it today and the 2.25" sticker fits PERFECT for these mugs. http://www.etsy.com/listing/70979027/custom-glossy-wedding-waterproof Mugs & Stickers including S+H totaled $89.98 / 24 = $3.75 for stainless steel personalized mugs! Couldn't be happier I hope this helps anyone who is currently on the hunt for a cool mug for their guests at a relatively reasonable price!
  5. I love our cake topper! It is even better in person than the photo proof that she sent. Here's a photo from my iPhone (at my desk at work). It's from the Esty shop Mudcards.
  6. Thank you for all of the compliments. You are all so sweet. I am leaning towards the side pony with curls & a flower with netting. We'll be on the beach & the flower (even if fake) will look nice and tropical. I'm so excited I could explode. Thanks again!
  7. I just picked up my dress & have no one to share it with because they might mention it in front of my fiance! Love this forum! It needs some fitting around the top where it is to big, but I love it. Now I need to decide what to do with my hair. Up, down, side pony, veil/ flower?? No idea - time to move to the hair forum....But I do love the dress! Can't wait until it's tailored & we are on the beach with professional photos!
  8. I just talked to my TA. I guess losing confirmations etc. could be because of something called "walking" (or something like that). Lot's of booking engines have small print that says if the resort fills up they can put you in a different resort (Expedia has this when you reserve with them). Some Travel Agents book through different engines that do not guarantee a "no-walking" situation, at which time your reservations could be bumped to a different resort if the resort books up. If you do not have this guarantee, it's almost like the resort has no real reason to take your reservation seriously as they become 100% booked because they know in the fine print they can technically move you to a different resort. I have no idea of that's what happened to lciz, but that was my TA's best guess of the situation. I check with our agent and she uses FunJet which has a No-Walking guarantee. Meaning everyone WILL get their room at the resort. A key thing to do is NEVER agree to anything at the resort as far as moving to a new hotel. If you do that it cancels the No-Walk Guarantee. Never sign an agreement or take credit or anything regarding moving to a new resort because your TA can not help you at that point. My wedding planner is giving the new planner a chance to catch up with things. She said that every wedding she does has wedding coordinators switch 1-4, 5-6 times while planning a wedding. Everything always turns out wonderful and the details are usually handled 30 days out. Even though they will communicate with you before that time 30 days out is when you get all the attention. I feel better. I hope you ladies do as well.
  9. I agree at 98% booked I don't want to take any chances. Sending my TA the info and asking her to confirm all of our reservations and maybe do it again before we leave. If the resort knows we are not open to any funny business, hopefully they will be extra careful!
  10. Please share more about how you made your reservation. Was it through a travel agent or online? Did you give them a confirmation number and they just did not have it? I'm glad you got it all figured out. I'm guessing if you would have gotten there and they did not have your room you would have been upgraded and it would have worked out okay, but it's still scary. Have your guests called to confirm their trips?
  11. The Esty shop is for the waterproof stickers is DavetDesigns here's a link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/70979027/custom-glossy-wedding-waterproof
  12. Thank you for the bottle opener tip! We will be adding these to our bags. Love little details like this that may help the guests in the long run!
  13. I apologize for the long post previously. I found a place that sells a wholesale bulk of 24 stainless steel mugs and a shop on esty that has cute waterproof/dishwasher proof custom stickers. We are going to do this instead of the crazy ordering of 50 mugs. 24 personalized stainless steel mugs for $92!
  14. Congratulations! You have no idea how excited and curious I am to hear your experience. Please let me know when your review is up! As you can tell I/(we) have so many questions
  15. Hey lciz - Planning on carrying on all of the wedding stuff. My future mother-in-law is carrying my dress on their direct flight (we have 1-stop and my fiance does not want to get close to the dress so it is a surprise). Between my fiance & I we should be able to carry on all of the OOT bag and decoration stuff for the wedding.
  16. Thanks for the heads-up I did read that they put incense in the room and people burn them, so I'm guessing the candle would be okay. I'll double check though.
  17. I was wondering if there are any EMP brides that are interested in ordering Customized mugs with me. Please DM if you are interested. Here's what I found - The best deal is ordering 50 mugs, but I only need 25 at the most. If another bride would like 25 the cost would be $103.00 / 25 mugs = $4.12 per mug 1) Includes shipping of $20 to your house from my house in Minneapolis, MN (shiping to my house is $20 from factory which I would pay) 2) The cost of the mugs is $83 for 25 of them. 3) This cost only includes one print color. (black?, green?) Depending on your wedding date, if it's in April like mine, we could add April 2012. Otherwise the mugs could be custom but less detailed. I'm open to suggestions if someone is serious about doing this. Here are some ideas: "Playa Mujeres, Mexico", "Excellence Playa Mujeres 2012" or more specifically "Mexico, April 2012" or we could add a little poem like "Feet in the Sand, Drink in your Hand - Mexico 2012"??? Obviously there are other details that we can talk about over the phone or through email. Pleae DM me if you want to do this and are serious about starting the order process. Otherwise I'll just order 50 and make them very customized with our names and date on them ....and have coffee/ tea mugs for the rest of our lives. ha. 18. It is taking a bit longer to hear back. I think we sent questions early last week and still have not heard anything on those ones. We are doing the legal stuff on the down-low as well. My mom & dad are coming as witnesses, which is nice because my dad is not coming to Mexico, but we are not telling anyone about that day - probably just go for a meal afterwards with my parents, and then start changing my name on everything We have not confirmed a reception area yet. We don't even have anything on "hold" At first we were told that we could be on the Lobster House patio, but now they changed their minds on that. I'm really really bummed because we really want it on the beach, but we were told we need a min. of 50 people to do that and there is an extra charge. Partly we're holding out hope that when we get there we can talk them into letting our little party have a beach reception. Asking for things in person always goes better than through an email - wish us luck! I have a question: For our OOT bags we buying personalized bags for each couple (the beach bag is part of the gift being it is a good quality). We are just thinking of adding per bag (1) underwater camera (for our suba excursion), (2) personalized mugs, (2) personal sized sunscreens (I heard that it is REALLY REALLY expensive at the hotel for anyone who forgets to bring it from home), candle & matches for their room. That is our budget for the bags. I see a lot of OOT bags having lots of little items, but I'm kind of excited about filling them with a couple of nice big items. What do you think about a couple of big items instead lots of little items? I'm open to any and all opinion of what guests are more likely to love. Overall I just really want our guests to know we thought of them, and it's not all about us. Thanks
  19. Congratulations on your booking K. ! Very exciting. We originally wanted the vest because it always looks so cool & dressy at the same time, but the suit we fell for did not come with a vest, so we are making the best of it. I personally like the vest and no jacket look very much. Our only concern about the legal ceremony in Mexico is the turnaround time for the official marriage certificate to be sent to us after we leave Mexico. I had a friend that had to wait 3 months after their wedding for their offical wedding certificate to be sent to their home from the Mexican courthouse. She was married at El Dorado Maroma (So a very nice place that does lots of weddings). I want to change my name legally right away on all kinds of stuff and don't want to wait 3 months (like she had to) to get the proof that we are married. That long of a wait is probably not the case for every wedding in Mexico, but her experience is what we am going off of. Also, she was told that if you lose that one certificate you get from Mexico it's hard to replace it (trying to track down the exact contact information of the courthouse in Mexico that holds your file) vs. going to your local courthouse and asking for a certified copy. She very highly recommended to us to do symbolic and save some stress. Actually, she told me that is the only one thing that she would have done differently. I'm not sure if other legal Mexico brides would say the same thing or not? I'm bummed about having a different "paperwork" day and Ceremony day, but to us it just paperwork (important paperwork, that we don't want to worry about losing). That aside, if you definately are doing a legal ceremony, I've head that the process of the requirements and the ceremony are all smooth and easy to do. The resort takes care of all of it and other than a needle prick, it's stress free. Nothing to be nervous about there . I was going with ipod also but not positive now. I have a specific song I would like to walk down the isle on. Any legal ceremonies? Nervous!!! K
  20. I'm sure it will all work out fine. Originally we were working with Ileana and then we were told to speak with Gustavo, both seemed to have the same response time & knowledge. The only thing that bothered me was the switch over. Ileana told us things & prices that were different from Gustavo, however, they honored what the other said. At least Ileana knows the resort and is not someone completely new . Just remember to print out your emails and photos to bring with you.
  21. How much is the guitar player for the ceremony? For the welcome bags I want to personalize each of them with an embrodery, but something less specific like "Playa Mujeres, Mexico" could be re-sold if we do not use them all. I'm thinking personalized for everyone who is booked & confirmed and a few "Mexico" bags for any last minute bookers.
  22. Hey LC, We were thinking of just using the small system that they include with the setup & bringing an iPod. I have the same concern you have about it sounding cheesy & washed out. A live guitar player or drum group would be ideal in my book. It's hard for a small speaker system to compete with the sound of the ocean and still sound good. I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing.
  23. I bought some cute dresses for my sisters at Express when they had 40% off (only $50 per dress). We are not having bridesmaids & groomsmen like people traditionally do, so I'm thinking of just telling everyone our color pallette and asking them to stay in the same color family so photos look nice. (No big print dresses or shirts that look crazy in photos, all solid colors) - but we'll see what happens. We just got my fiance's suit in white and two for his dad and brother in cream from Jos. A Bank. They were buy 1 suit get 2 free! Super great deal, plus we got two free shirts and ties. I don't know how they make money when they are giving away $395 suits, $70 ties and $80 shirts for just buying 1 suit for $395, but those prices are definately in our budget. Here's a photo of the cream colored suit we got. They have a fine stripe in them, but in the photos from a few feet away they just look cream. The guys LOVE them because they are light, breathable and comfortable.
  24. I sent it again with the new address. Let me know if it does not work. Other ladies have gotten it, so hopefully the new address helps. I think we are doing OOT bags. Just started looking at custom bags recently, it's kind of hard to plan when we still have people saying they hoping to book, so I don't know how much to buy. We didn't even have our resort or anything picked at 6 mos., so you are doing really well!
  25. We are going with the Silver package and upgrading a few of the flowers. Both meal and app menu's look great and we are not interested in paying for upgraded photos/15 min. unedited video in the gold package being we have hired our own outside photographer. Other upgrades to the gold like the couple's spa time sound nice, but we know what kind of spa time we like so we'd rather make our own package and just get the 15% off. The only thing we personally would miss from the gold package is the band a cocktail hour, but really the extra $800 to upgrade the package does not make up for that 1 item. We both really want a feet in the sand wedding, but with the ceremony being at 3:00pm I'm trying to prepare my fiance for the possibility that it might be to hot and we may need to go to the gazebo. We'll see what happens. We're planning for the sand and open to whatever happens. I did not however think of how silly i usually look trying to walk in the sand (even with just my bare feet), much less a wedding dress. I started to follow you ladies on Pinterest as well! Fun! I'm trying to post photos of other weddings at EMP so I can see what kind of work they can do on Cakes & Decorations, etc.
