  1. Where did you get your lounge furniture from? I am looking around and wondering if that was the resorts furniture or from another place. Thanks for the help!
  2. They have me down for Pelicanos Beachis the beach in front of the gazebo. Unforutnately for budget reasons we are skipping the light up dance floor. I honestly am not that crazy about it. We are looking into tiki torches, but they want a ridiculous amount for those. My wedding travel agent is going to speak to them about a few things. Thanks!
  3. Well I looked it up and since the alcohol is not included I am staying with the Royal. A the end of the day they are alittle pricey on the vendors fee, but they are trying to make things right on some issues and have been nice. I just love the resort and thing it is so pretty there and we really wanted a full-on beach wedding..everything on the beach..we got engaged on a beach in Jamaica and are going to get married on one in Mexico... Anywho..I do have a few questions for anyone who has already been there. We really want to incorporate the native spirit of Playa in our gift bags. I have heard that chocolate, tequila and cigars are part of their culture. First does anyone else have any other ideas of items for the gift bag and second we would like to purchase them when we get there, I am assuming not to hard to do with 5th ave down the street? Did anyone here have their reception on the beach? I am thinking we need some additional lighting like tiki torches..anyone have suggestions or what was your experience? Lastly, we are looking to take our wedding party on an excursion instead of gifts(thought is would be more fun). I would be open to suggestions. We would like a non-driving tour thing. I have heard of some dune buggy driving tour , anyone here take that? Please send me some links to places you have gone on excursions..we are a fund bunch..probably something that involves a bit of drinking as well.. Well I am getting there..finally nailing down some details..found a great site for linens and napkins and chairs covers that are dirt cheap!!! decided on hand painted stones for escort cards, hand painted votive candles as place cards and candle luminares for table numbers. Still have lots to do!!!
  4. Oh 1 other question..does the Wiki have the open bar? Or is that an extra fee? We are having a private reception/cocktail hour right now at the royal but that includes all the drinks as well..so I would be concerned on the prices of Wiki if that was not included..
  5. I am also fed up with the Royal on so many levels..too many rules etc..do they allow DJ's to play at this place for dancing? Did they charge you any vendors fees at all? Just curious..may be something I would look into.. Thanks!
  6. It is interesting you say that about Marvin because a few of the girls on here experienced the same problem with the flowers not being the correct colors. I am also going to look into the woman that may be doing lounge furniture for us because I believe she does centerpieces as well..plus then since I am already paying an outside vendor fee she can deal with the set up an take down and no one is forced to sit and wait for the flowers. I would love to see your review so I can avoid the issues you had(sorry for those) as I feel the Royal is kind of getting to strict with all of their restrictions. Also I will look into the royal florist as well..some of their centerpieces weren't so horrible and we are thinking all roses any ways to keep down costs and make it romantic...orchids are out...too expensive!
  7. Okay so not sure if anyone else is having problems but it seems to me that the royal just keeps changing stuff at their will. Now they only use the cheezy folding chairs outdoors for the reception? Covered chairs only inside. Every time I turn around they now can't do this or that...seems to me I am paying for one of the most expensive packages only to be told I can't have this or that..getting pretty irritated. Also everyone says that Marvin has great prices on flowers..I don't know he actually seems to be the same as here in the US or a bit higher anyone else experience this? Sorry just getting a be discouraged by the royal and all their new rules ! Let me know! On the good side found M &J photographer for a fantastic price and a free THD session!!! Wohoo!
  8. Hey ladies I have been busy and not been able to post or view for awhile. We are sort of on hold waiting to see how many guests we are going to have. In the meantime I still have some things I need to get done.I finally found my dress, still working on bridemaids dresses, have the tuxes picked out and just need to make the appt. Booked the DJ, still trying to decide on flower.I am feeling alittle overwhelmed. We picked this so we would not have to plan so much and it seems like there is just as much planning involved. I could still use some feed back on the following things: 1. We are looking for a photographer and video people yet. Anyone ever use Blue Lens? Or have recommendations. Our budget is around $3500 for both. 2. I have seen in almost all of the review that people got married in the gazebo and not on the beach? Any reason for this? We choose the beach but now I am concerned. If you have pictures of your beach wedding please send or post them. I am looking for ideas for decor and lighting as well as decor for the ceremony. 3. Does anyone know if the resort has a runner or aisle they can put down on the beach for rent? 4.I have some ideas for gift bags, but can always use more. We are not doing favors because we are going to give a gift bag. 5. Do you bring your own menus etc...and they put them out? 6. I have been having some troubles with my coordinator. What exactly will they put our for you for decor? She makes it sound like you have to have someone from your wedding party do all of it?? Well that is what I have for now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Hey there I am April 27th 2012 at the Royal Playa Del Carmen!
  10. I have been trying to contact Marvin the flower guy but I have not been able to get a response. Any one else having this issue?
  11. Has any one been able to get a hold of Marvin the flower guy? He has not answered any of my emails. Just wondering.
  12. I need some help and any advice you can give me..I am not well versed in weddings at all. Thankfully my mother's best friend is a wedding consultant or I would be in big trouble. I have a few questions for anyone that has gotten married at the royal previously.. 1. Is there a place where you can order your own cut flowers ? Like I said my mom's best friend is a wedding consultant/florist and would is giving me a present by doing some decor and the flowers if possible. I am looking to find a place that I can order fresh flowers in Playa del carmen for pick. 2. Photographers/Vidoegrapher..any suggestions..they have the resort packages but not sure I am sold on their pictures. 3. Does the DJ Doremixx bring the dancefloor? because the resort shows a dance floor rental on the upgrade? Everything I have read explains he does, but not sure. Any other info you have please feel free to post!! Thanks!
