Here's my ring! He proposed in Jamaica... Can't wait for our wedding in Mexixo!

I invited 20 people, but right now only 12 have booked. It's gonna be a small wedding. As of right now, we are not going to have a reception. After the ceremony we are going to do the cake, and then everyone can just go eat dinner where they want, and then meet up at one of the bar areas after dinner. We may be having a reception when we get home so I just want to keep it simple in Mexico. The photographer said he can customize a package if you want something different than his packages on SMB. We are thinking about just getting the CD with all of the photos, and then print off what we want when we get home. This way we don't have to worry about flying back with the prints. So if you email him he should be able to customize a package for you.

We went to Jamaica earlier this year and stayed at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. We ended up meeting a couple there that travels every year and they said SMB was their favorite. So we basically decided on that resort right away. The reviews on the resort helped out also I still really want to go to St Lucia, so maybe that will be our 1 year anniversary trip

HI nicc80! We wanted to get married in St. Lucia also, but found it to be expensive. Are you going through a travel agent? I'm using a TA to book all the rooms, so I'm not sure if they are blocking rooms off for my guest, but i'm also only inviting about 14 people. I wanted to see what the price difference was between booking on SMB website or through my TA and my TA is only a little bit cheaper. So, idk if she is offering a discount to the guests. Also, if our guest book through my TA then my fiance and I get $50 off our bill for each room that is booked. And lastly, for every 5 rooms booked the 6th room is free. I agree with you on the ceremony location, I like the beach location too. I'm not sure about the dj on the resort, but the photographer is Juan Navarro. If you search for him on this website you will find reviews. He seems good. I contacted him directly, instead of going through the wedding cooridnator, and he is very friendly and responds quickly. So I plan on using him for my wedding on May 12, 2012. Congrats, and Good luck planning!

I can see how it can be stressful if people are staying at different resorts. All of my guest are staying with us at SMB so I cannot help you there. Instead of gift bags for the favors, you could try to find something that can be given during your reception or ceremony. Good luck on organizing everything!

Everything that NEMMERZ said is correct. I just recently went through that whole process for my May 12, 2012 wedding. Once Cecilia emails you the contract, you have to sign it and send it back to her with a copy of your deposit within a week. That officially saves your date. So if you haven't done that yet, then your date isn't saved yet. I've noticed that Cecilia answers to emails faster if you email her in the beginning of the week. You could also write URGENT in the subject line. This might catch her attention faster. I hope everything works out for you. Hi AnnieWeds! I'm from the Michigan area so I can't help you with the travel agent. But my agent was able to get us $50 off each room booked that is from our wedding. Also, Secrets Maroma is doing a special right now, when you book 5 rooms you get the 6th room free. So be sure to ask your travel agent about it. It's on the Secrets website. When in May are you getting married? We are getting married there May 12, 2012! I can't wait! Good luck planning everything!

Thank you Samantha88k and Starfish0512 for your response. Congrats to you also! I think we are going to try to get a dates about 1 month after. We start looking at halls next week. Secrets Maroma is located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I've never been there but the resort looks beautiful and I heard a lot of wonderful things about it.

Hi Ladies! I'm getting married May 12, 2012 at Secrets Maroma Beach. I can't believe how much some of you have already planned. I feel like I'm falling behind now. Time for me to get into the wedding planning mode. Are any of you planning an at home reception when you get back from your destination wedding? How far from the actually wedding do you think it would be ok to have an at home reception? We were thinking maybe a month after our wedding. This way we can get organized when we come home. Do you think this is too far apart?

For those of you that has been to SMB already, I have a question. I keep reading on trip advisor that there are iguanas and coatimundi 's on the resort. And they come up to you while you are eating outside. Is this true? Did you find this to be a problem?

I can't help you about the ceremony locations but I am getting married May 12, 2012 at Secrets Maroma Beach, and the wedding coordinator suggested a 4 pm wedding. So I think your 5pm wedding will be good. Do you plan on doing pictures before or after? This is just something to think about because I think sunset is around 6:30pm. Hope this helps!

I think we are just going the with basic wedding package, because we are going to have a reception when we get back home. We are going to do the symbolic ceremony. I think it's crazy how much extra stuff we would have to do for the legal ceremony. So our plan is to just sign our marriage license before we go or when we come back.

Did you end up getting the 11 or 4pm time for this day? I just set my date for May 12, 2012 at 4pm. I will just miss you, we are coming home on the 16th. Are you having a reception dinner after the ceremony? I'm not sure if I want to do a reception when it is an all inclusive hotel.

Did it take a while for Cecilia to respond to any of you after you sent her the QA wedding form? She said she was holding my date for a week, I sent in the form way before the week was up and she hasn't responded back (the week is up now). I'm getting scared that she gave my date away
