  1. Hi All, I'm getting married (!) in Negril, Jamaica in May of 2012, but our resort has booked all private sunset weddings already. Does anyone know of a private area close by where we can get married "off campus" with 150 guests? Please PM me. Thanks!
  2. Hello ladies! I'm from Boston hoping for a May 2012 wedding ... but no destination determined. I'm looking for a place that can accommodate approx 100 guests, is relatively modern, has a friendly staff (I can't believe all the reviews about unfriendly staff!) and isn't going to break the bank for my friends (who make up most of the guest list). Based on some preliminary research, I think St. Croix, Turks & Caicos and Mexico seem to be the easiest distance from Boston. Any and all advice welcome. Best wishes to all of you! Melanie
  3. I am so grateful for this site! I am newly engaged and hoping for a May 2012 wedding, but I still have so much research to do. I think we've narrowed it down to Turks & Caicos, Playa Del Carmen and St. Croix, but how does one pick?? Is there a forum for 80-100 guests? Also, any parts of BDW that I should visit? Thanks for starting this thread! Melanie
  4. Briana, thank you for your post here. I just emailed Diane per your suggestion, as I too am considering T&C as my destination. I think we'll have 100 guests, which narrows it down to just a few places. It was helpful to know that you had 85. Can you recommend the best way to search for hotels (anywhere in the Caribbean) that will accommodate 100 guests? Also, how did you narrow it down to T&C? Thanks again for your helpful post, and I hope your wedding was everything you hoped it would be. Best, Melanie
  5. Great tips, beautifulbridetobe. Question, for a $10k-$12k budget, how many guests are you expecting? I'm having a hard time determining budget (also need to be frugal) because we plan to invite 200 ... anticipating at least 100 will come. Thanks for your great suggestions!
  6. Janine, your post w contact information is most helpful. Thank you!
  7. Hi Rae, I've heard that Martha Stewart's website is great for budgets: http://tools.marthastewartweddings.com/wedding/UserMyBudget Once I've set a spreadsheet, I'm happy to send you mine. Happy planning, Melanie
  8. Hi Norma, Congratulations! I too just got engaged on May 1, and my fiance and I are hoping to get married in May 2012 - maybe Mem Day weekend. How did you decide on Mexico? How many guests will you have? Congrats again! I'm new to this site (and planning a wedding!) and welcome any and all advice. Best, Melanie
  9. Hi! I just got engaged (May 1), and my fiance and I would love a destination wedding Memorial Day weekend 2012. We are having a hard time deciding on an island, although we're leaning toward the Virgin Islands since no passport is required and US currency is accepted. We want to invite 200 guests (imagine 100-125 will come?). For the wedding weekend alone, anyone have any advice? Is a $20k budget reasonable? I plan special events (for a nonprofit) and am extremely organized, but I'm having the hardest time getting started here. All advice welcome. Thanks, Melanie
