  1. Great post, Moni! It makes all of us feels so much better. Acutie, you are very welcome. I posted the link to the wedding booklet earlier this week for JB and it contained all of the info, but when I went back and looked at it 2 days ago, the info about the cakes and flowers was gone. It was very detailed before hand, had lots of pics with many available options. I am not sure why it's gone now, but I have a feeling that they are making some changes to it now, so we shall see later. Otherwise, things are starting to look way better for NOW Larimar and FB page comments are making me very happy as well
  2. Moni, I'm glad you wrote this, because I completely forgot to discuss the welcome dinner and cocktail party for my guests with the resort. Did you communicate with Claribel regarding this or should I email someone else? Do they charge you anything to book a dinner for 25 ppl or the next day welcome party? I really hope it won't cost us an arm and a leg, since the wedding is already quite costly. Also, I haven't seen any pics of a reception by the poolside, I know some of you ladies say it's beautiful. Do you happen to have any pictures of it? Maybe I'll choose this option too. Sara, I am so glad you're going there in August. This would be such a help to us all!
  3. Moni, good to see you back! We had our wedding showers 2 weeks ago and it was fabulous as well Did you contact Christina regarding your wedding planning even though she's at Secrets, not NOW? My wedding is less than 4 months away as well, so maybe I should start emailing her as well. Claribel took more than a week to respond last time, but I'm not too worried yet, we still have time. Acutie, I just contacted Flori at La Barcaza last week and she emailed me the price list for everything. Let me know if you want me to forward this to you. The only thing she never replied about was the availability of my date. I'm going to call her this week. I have been thinking to have the ceremony at the fountain site and the reception at Castaways or La Barcaza depending on the availability of the boat. They do have music set-up and Ipod hook up, there is no professional DJ, however there is like an entertainer/DJ person, whom I've heard great things about.
  4. Sorry to hear that, Dee! I have 21 booked already, so it would be impossible for me to cancel even if I decided to. Good luck with your planning!
  5. Jamie and Dee, here is the link to their wedding guide brochure. They recently posted it on their website: http://www.amresorts.com/wedding_guides/nolpc-wedding-guide.pdf Scroll down for the flower and cake info. There are lots of options depending on the package you choose. Dee, I wanted to decide on the reception location as well, but I have a feeling that until we come and take a tour with the WC it would be nearly impossible. Pictures don't show the whole abiance unfortunately. However, for the ceremony location I chose the fountain site. It looks beautiful :
  6. Ladies, I've been following NOW Larimar page on FB and so far it is very pleasing to my eyes. Lots of good reviews, with few negatives... oh well some people are never happy. I wanted to share a link with everyone, it's one of the blogs about NOW from an independent traveler with pics and comments: http://beachjunkies.blogspot.com/2011/06/resort-review-now-larimar.html And here is the new NOW Larimar blog as well: http://nowresortsblog.com/2011/07/15/what-to-expect-at-now-larimar/
  7. Hello ladies! Can anyone tell me their current pricing per person please. I know it all depends on the food choice, but I'd like to know approximately. Our wedding is booked at NOW Larimar, but we're considering La Barcaza for the rehearsal dinner or after the wedding party. Thank you.
  8. Wow, JB! Thank you so much for posting all these details, which are so helpful. The more I look at NOW FB page, the more I want to trust them, not tripadvisor Vav, I'm sharing same hopes with you. I really want a sit-down dinner, not a buffet, but so far we're counting 40-60 ppl. And the way I imagined the cocktail hour was right after the ceremony, at the ceremony site, toast for the Mr and Mrs. Not having to walk across the resort to drink and eat, and then eat and drink again at the reception Alissa, HDC is the local wedding photography. Their work is amazing, I've heard nothing but great things. here's the web: http://hdcphoto.com/ A question for all of you ladies: do you plan on paying for the extra chairs for the ceremony ($15/each) to sit more than 25 guests? Divine package include up to 25 ppl for everything, so the extra cost is a little ridiculous. To sit down25ppl for 30 min for the ceremony is nearly $400
  9. Thank you so much for posting those pictures, JB. It looks like they had their cocktail our at the bar and the reception at one of the banquet rooms or restaurants. After looking at the resort photog pics, I am glad I contracted with HDC (no offense to the bride who shared her pics). Sara, you mentioned that you talked to the WC from Secrets. I wonder if I should do the same, as Claribel nor Emy Rose won't respond to my email for the week already. Would it be the solution?
  10. Dee, yes I've heard that, but not only about NOW, about many resorts. I kinda felt the same way after being in DR last year for like 4 days. Hahah I think it has to do more with people building the tolerance to rum, than them not putting enough in your cocktail. many times when we felt like our drinks didn't have any flavor, we'd ask the bartender to put more in, and they always did I emailed Emy Rose and Claribel yesterday regarding the flower arrangements and haven't heard from them yet. How long does it usually takes them to respond? Before we booked NOW for our wedding Emy Rose was responding very very promptly. I hope this continues. JB, thanks for passing on the DJ info. I'll try to find something out about him.
  11. Hello ladies! I hope everyone is doing lovely and the planning is going great My FI and I just had our wedding shower and AHR in MO, where he's from and it was wonderful. Now, back to the wedding planning. Vav, thank you so much for posting those pics. It really looks great. I love their centerpieces with candles and flower petals. I'm wondering how many centerpieces are included in the Divine package (probably for few tables only). Also, my future mother-in-law spoke to one couple who just came back from NOW Larimar last week, and they were very disappointed. They said the main buffet was indoors and the air conditioner wasn't working, the fountain (where I'm planning the ceremony) didn't work either, etc. I'm really hoping it was all just their negative experience and it won't affect any of us. The reviews of the NOW are so mixed that it is hard to tell there the truth lies. keeping my fingers crossed for the best.
  12. Hello ladies! it's been a while since I've logged in, but it's nice to see all the new posts. Congrats, TJ! It's good to have another NOW bride! Moni, I booked HDC few weeks ago as well. I am sure our pictures will look absolutely beautiful. I have an idea for the resort photographer, since we can't swap the services. I'll ask him/her to take pictures of us some other day maybe, something like a romantic photo shoot on the beach. If the photographer belongs to the resort, I can't see why they won't be able to accommodate this. it will simply be awkward to have 2 professional photographers at the wedding Also, you girls mentioned Caribel's name and the person I've contacted always was Emy Rose. She was very prompt every time and my wedding confirmation came in few hrs after my payment. Are there 2 wedding coordinators other there?
  13. What a wonderful thread! Thank you, ladies for all of the great postings!
  14. Thank you, Sarah! I just sent you an email as well. Very curious about how it went. Acutie, wakeboarding is our favorite thing to do here March through Oct
  15. Dear JB, me and my FI went to do our wedding registry and Macy's yesterday and I didn't find your dress. So sorry, hopefully you'll find something great just as cheap. I am also looking for a second dress for TTD sesh, I'll keep an eye out on Ideli or other sales.
  16. BTW ladies, check out Debbie's Dominican travel website http://www.debbiesdominicantravel.com/eden.html with all positive reviews about NOW. It's always nice to see some good words out there
  17. Moni, I'm going with regular Platinum package. That way, I can print just the ones I love. Arnaud emailed me trash the dress pics and I didn't really like them too much, so I'm not sure if I want to do it at all. Are you going to have TTD sess at all? JB, our wedding date is November 18, 2011. I think it's a week after Moni.
  18. Moni, I'm going with Platinum package from HDC, I think 5 hrs is plenty, I'll also try to customize and get them to shoot preparation of the groom as well. I've seen their pictures on the website, and it looks amazing.
  19. Wow, JB! The passport invites are outstanding! Excellent job! I'm going to register at Macy's on Fri with my FI, I'll let you know about the dress you had your eye on. I wonder if we can substitute their photographer for something else, since I'm booking Arnaud from HDC. I'm going to book the Divine package, hopefully I'll get some other goodies with it.
  20. Hello ladies! I am new to BDW and have nothing but great things to say about it. I am newly engaged and have been searching for the perfect place to wed. We decided to go with NOW! I am so happy with our choice, because customer service is way better and overall it looks very elegant. We finally booked our date for November 18, 2011. So, I'll be bombarding you all with lots of questions if you don't mind. A lot is on my mind and I never thought that DW would take a lot of planning, but it looks like it! Congrats to all of the brides and happy planning!
  21. Hello there, dear brides! Katerina & Drew November 18t, 2011 NOW Larimar Punta Cana
