  1. Good luck with your bridal gown shopping! I never even came near a ballroom gown! lol
  2. Yes, it's a Mori Lee. She has very nice gowns with VERY reasonable prices (in my opinion). JLR - love your final decision, looks stunning on you! )
  3. Here it is, MY dress (not the sample lol) after my first dress fitting on Saturday!!! Don't mind the closed eyes lol.
  4. This is the site that I think I will be ordering from: http://www.beau-coup.com/nautical_themed_favors.htm They have lip balm with SPF. I would be lying if I told you that I looked into shipping to Canada though lol.
  5. Tiny Tuna - I'm in Ajax as well!!! We are getting married in Dominican, Punta Cana on November 11, 2011. Just found this thread...
  6. This is mine..this was the sample, I'm trying on my actual dress this Saturday ) Don't mind the ridiculous face I'm making lol...unfortunately you can't see all the detail in this quality of pic.
  7. Well I picked the "white gazebo" if anyone is keeping up with this thread who has the same interests. I made this decision due to privacy concerns. Basically, I saw pictures of ceremonies on the beach at this resort and I was creeped out - mainly because of the loads of ignorant people that are able to get right up to your ceremony and end up making it look like a mosh pit and then the yellow caution tape they put around the ceremony area.
  8. Hi ladies, Does anyone know if you get to pick where you want to have your ceremony when you get there as opposed to choosing beforehand? I ask because I rather be able to see the locations before I choose... If anyone has been married there already - any recommendations as to where to have the ceremony (beach or gazebo)? Thanks!!!
  9. Just talking to my bridesmaids about these, I think they are so cute! Will be in touch )
  10. I am getting married there on November 11, 2011 and I chose the Il Cappricio restaurant - mainly because my family is Italian so I thought they would like the food on the menu there better than anywhere else LOL. Good to hear that someone had a good experience with the restaurant )
  11. I think the shape of the dress is what throws people off of it sometimes - that whole mermaid style is still kind of new for a lot of people and sometimes the fabric and the way the bottom ends up looking makes it or breaks it for people. In fact, when I was trying the dress on another bride in the salon decided to try it on after me - she said she loved the dress but she thought she might have liked it more on me than she did on herself. Just like how I think me and ballroom dresses just don't mix lol.
  12. I am wearing flip flops as well. I don't have a picture of them but I got them at the bridal store that I got my dress from. I think they are white satin with some crystals on them - I haven't seen them since December lol.
  13. Thanks ladies!! It's nice to share them with people who would be completely impartial and get a good response ) When I go for my first fitting in the next week or so, I will make sure to take a pic with me IN it and post!
  14. This is the dress I will be wearing: http://www.morilee.com/bridals/bridal/1606 I got it at Bliss Bridal in Whitby, Ontario. It is actually very light to wear and I won't have to worry about picking it up to walk or anything like that. I'm wearing it with the shoulder strap. These are my bridesmaid dresses (will be in Tiffany Blue):
  15. My cousin is in Pickering at the Pickering Town Centre if you wanted someone to talk to - PM me if you want to go that route.
  16. I booked my hotel/flight with my cousin who is a travel agent at Flight Centre. She has said since Day One that I would be the one in contact with the WC at the hotel and I am perfectly happy with that because I like to be in control of that aspect anyways lol. I haven't had any issues doing it this way.
  17. Glad you picked your resort I agree it was the most frustrating thing. I know some people are able to go out to the DR and look around and then pick a resort that way, but unfortunately that wasn't an option for us because we really couldn't have been able to pay for 2 trips this year. I got some good advice from my cousin who is a travel agent - she said first and foremost, email the WCs of the resorts and if you don't get prompt responses, then forget it because this is the person you need to talk to about planning your wedding when you can't be there to overlook anything. That was how I ended up with my resort. I knew I wanted a 5 star, no exceptions, a good price for the wedding package and group rates, my date was very important to us - so a few of the hotels we looked at didn't even have our date (I think our first choice was Dreams) so we ended up with Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana and I'm actually really excited after talking to other brides on the forum and other people that went there for their vacations!
  18. I actually wouldn't have thought of that either if it wasn't for my WC lol. I wanted my date really badly but the ceremony WITH the judge wasn't available that day - so she suggested it and I said, fine by me! To everyone that will be there, they won't know the difference anyways!
  19. I'm not sure how many posts you need - but I have only posted a few more times since I said I finally have my signature so not too many!
