  1. Hi Chante Are you going through a travel agent? If so, the deposit would have been handled through them. Ana is hard to get in contact with, they just don't have much to do or say with you in regards to the wedding up until a few months before because, from what I was told, everything is a phone call and credit card away so its easier to handle when you are 3 months out, vs. a year per se
  2. No the wedding day doesn't count as 4 business days before and Saturday and Sunday don't count at all. They make it tough. We were going to get married legally there, but then after hearing about delays on getting the lisense back, we just decided to do it up in Vegas and then do a symbolic ceremony. I think it depends on if there is another wedding at the same time as yours. I wanted mine on the deck, but another bride is on the deck that night, so the reception will be on the beach as well which I heard is just as nice. I would ask Ana as anything closed off and private will cost a little more but most people are in for the night after the wedding....well depending on what time yours is. Mine is at 0600. so reception at 7 and dinner, dancing, fire dancers and cigar rollers...asll that should go on until 9-10 and we are off for the night.
  3. Chante If you want something private, I was told the North beach was your best option. That is where I'm having my ceremony. If you don't care who sees you and don't mind walking around people in your gown, then the gazebo will suit you just fine. If you are getting married down there, legally, you have to arrive 4 business days, be at the resort and checked in BEFORE NOON on day one for it to be considered a business day. You're witnesses also have to be there 3-4 days before. This is for the blood test and to get the results and such.
  4. Oh! I too am interested in the response to this. I am getting married on North Beach May 12 and have no idea of what to do entrance music wise. I don't want to pay for a pianist, or anything ritzy like that, but I also don't want music from my ipod to just start playing out of nowhere. I did think about having a series of jazz songs playing and then have it change when I'm come in but I don't know who to coordinate that.
  5. Congratulations ladies!!! HAVE FUN! I can't wait! 11 months to go!!! lol Brooke, could you let us know how that goes, using the tech & equipment vs. the DJ? Congratulations everyone!!!
  6. I have liked shotclip. This is going to be great! My # 1 camera person would be my brother in law. His demeanor and charactor is so animated that I know he would be the life of every shot he is in and would find the perfect shots for our day.
  7. OMG!! Thank you soooooo much! WHEW! I feel so much better. I've had the butterfly bubblies for weeks! I have spoken to the resort but they didn't really have much to say to me, everything was brief. They said my wedding was on the North Beach as they have one on the South Beach at the same time but an hour earlier. I'm working with a TA and she has been a dream! I just didn't know what to do but I'm going to speak to my fiancee and start an interest bearing account at a bank that will give us the best return. Thank so, so, so much! We were just going to pay on it and weren't getting a response but this will be equally as easy and amazingly, we never really thought about saving the money. Go figure. wedding jitters?
  8. Hi Chrissy! Could you also email me the budget as well. I'm a little lost on trying to piece this all together and that would be an INCREDIBLE blessing! [email protected]
  9. lcraney--You mentioned fireworks, were these supplied by the DJ or did the resort do a firework display? Also, although my wedding isn't until May 12 2012, I'm having a time getting in touch with the resort. I don't know how to get the money to these folks. I would like to start picking and choosing and paying over time but is this even an option? I'm afraid if we try to save money, we won't have enough to pay for everything. How are the rest of you handling the arrangments?
  10. Hi Future Mrs. Robart I loved your wedding photos! YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!!! It was a lovely affair! I'm not until May of next year but had a question about your set up, the stage and the fireworks, did the dj supply all of that? If so, how long and if you don't mind my asking, what is the rate? Was the DJ any good? Who did your decorations and do you have any recommendations on what decorations I should bring down vs. paying for? What other helpful recommendations do you have and where did you get the beautiful feet sandels things? My wedding is on the south beach and this would be good for my matron of honor and 2 maids of honors! CONGRATULATIONS !!!!
  11. THERE IS A COSTCO IN CANCUN!?!?!?!?!? YIPPIE!!!! THIS IS THE BEST NEWS I'VE HEARD SINCE I GOT ENGAGED! THANK ....YOU.... SHARON!!!
  12. Hi Missy Could you post your facebook link again, I'd LOVE to see your pictures. Whenever I click the link, it just goes to my home page. Also, the ceremony music, how was yours done? Is there someone to play or would the DJ be there for the ENTIRE event? If so, wouldn't this be VERY expensive?
  13. My wedding is on the beach along with the reception but they said they can set up the dance floor on the sand, not sure how well that will work, but my questions was, about how much was the DJ and are you able to pay him in installments? Also, for the ceremony, how does that work music wise? Did you use an ipod, did they provide music or what? I'm unclear on that part!
  14. I ADDED US! YIPPIE!!1 05/12/2012 LOL Do you all notice how WE ALL put our names first, then "him?"
  15. Can someone fill me in on this part. We want to start making payments on the stuff we want for our wedding, i.e. DJ, decorations, food.....do we pay the resort when we get there or just start sending money. The lack in response worries me and I don't want my hard earned coins just floating around and no one tracks it. I thought maybe I paid through the travel agent but I didn't ask her yet.
  16. Hey Tiger Why are you paying so much for yoru room deposits? I would renegotiate that if possible. You can negotiate EVERYTHING!!!!! That's the best advice I've recieved so far, if they want the business, they will comp at your request. Please remember that. Our 10x 10 block went like this, it we held 10, it was a $50 deposit per room per double, triple was $25. So to hold our first 15 rooms was only $600!! Our room was $100 but we wanted the preferred suite, it has something or another that got our attention, I don't remember now. But we only got this from working with a TA, when I went on my own, it was much more. What about the DJ's ladies? I''m trying to figure out who to go with and how to save money on them. My head is swimming from all of the different suggestions and I don't know who to go with at this point! Although the wedding isn't until May 2012 but if I can get some specials now ,vs. next year, I want in on that. What about decorations, I have a really good contact on flowers down there. My co-worker got married at Dreams Cancun and this lady did ALL of her flowers, gazebo, bouquet, bridesmaids, isle and everything for $250!!!! Just be patient as she is slow to respond. [email protected] If you google that email, her facebook and web page come up
  17. I would go with a Travel Agent. I'm working with one and even if they have a special later in the year, nothing would keep you from taking advantage of that as well as one that is happening now, you can negotiate EVERYTHING!!!! I'm May 12, 2012. Call these folks, this is who I went through, my wedding is SOOOO afforable by going with these guys and they work with Dreams and Karisma in particular. Ask for Lauren or Peter. I'm Courtney, they know who I am, you can tell them I sent you if you call them up. For Special Rates Call: 404-256-1131 or 571-258-8068 Or Toll Free: 888-566-1131 Or Email: [email protected]
  18. HI Sarah Did they have anything around 6? My TA told us for our May 12, 2012 wedding, sunset will be around 6 pm, that coupled with a 20 min ceremony that we should be able to get fantastic pictures. I think the weather channel has an app that will tell you the approx. sunset time.
  19. Is it easier to just get married before? I have read that some brides have done this and I was wondering if I should get married before, which would change my actual anniversary date but I promised my father I wouldn't run off and elope and take away the job of walking me down the aisle (my kid sister did this) so I thought it would be ok to just get married there but I've heard there is some lad in getting your marriage liscence back....sometimes a year later!!! I hope this is not the case. Then I heard its only a few weeks, can anyone clear this up for me?
  20. Hi Sarah, Sorry for just getting back to you, I'm still trying to understand the posting items and the times, so I'm just seeing that you replied. But YEA....Sorry about that lol, I didn't want to get later in the month for personal reason, (lady time) and first weekend didn't work, father in laws birthday. We are hopefully going to stay about 9-10 days, not sure but I think we have to be there 4 days in advance for the blood test right? Are they strict on that? That might present an issue for my witnesses having to be there so far in advance. We will probably be there from the Thursday before the wedding to the Friday after so hopefully, will be seeing you there!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
  21. Hi Carb In speaking with my coordinator, an idea was that they may be able to give you the room assignments after everyone has arrived or before and you can assign one of your attendants to go and drop the bags off at the doors. Its a thought....
  22. Hi Sarah! My wedding is at DRC May 12, 2012, I'm sorry they already booked the first 2 weekends. They seems to book fast as when I asked for the first 2 weekends, the 12th was all they had available. We went with the comp as our travel agent suggested. She said in the past, brides have added on what they wanted and it ended up being more affordable plus the resort will often throw in the high packages at a discounted rate if they "discover" that it makes more sense for you to go this route, which is what I'm counting on. I'm actually very interested in the gold vs. silver party as well though, let me know what you find out.
  23. WOW! $300 an hour for a DJ, ridiculous, or is that average? I've seen some folks say that they used their Ipod which is what I might do as well but it sounds like it might not be for the best using an IPOD, I wonder how well that goes over. Thank you for the congrats and the info, there is over 300 pages that I have to read up on, man on man I hope it rains this weekend, that'll help me with my reasoning to stay in and read up on what other DRC brides have done. I'm so excited I'm about to burst!!! I can't wait til next year!!!
