  1. We have just returned from our 9 days at Moon Palace. We were there during Hurricane Ernesto, but it quickly moved through and cleared up in time for all of our guests to arrive in time. After the storm passed through, the weather behind it was absolutely perfect for the rest of the week. It was amazing. The week was great. The wedding was incredible. I will write a long, detailed review as soon as I settle in. I have a ton of photos to share as well. I am happy to answer any questions, no matter how small or large.
  2. Yeah, we are in the same situation. Our wedding is at Moon Palace Cancun on Friday August 10th. About 40 of our guests are scheduled to fly in on Wednesday, the day Hurricane Ernesto is projected to hit. I'm not going to worry about the rain, but I am concerned our guests are going to be stranded in connecting city airports overnight on Wednesday, and not be allowed to fly into Cancun until Thursday. Its basically a nightmare.
  3. Moon Palace does have a dancefloor they will provide for free if you book an inside ballroom. You also have the option of renting a number of different dance floors from Zuniga.
  4. Those photos are of the Laud, Careta and Carey Ballrooms which are in the Nizuc Lobby. That's is actually exactly where our reception is scheduled to take place.
  5. Just in case there are some new users in this forum who aren't aware, you can click on any of the photos in the post to see a larger version of the image
  6. Here is a photo of a complimentary beach wedding ceremony set-up, with no extras (see below) And here is what that exact same set-up looks like with extras:
  7. Well, it is starting to look more likely that our worst case scenario is going to occur. Tropical Depression 5 has become Tropical Storm Ernesto. And by Monday morning, is predicted to become Hurricane Ernesto. Its projected path has it heading directly for Cancun on Wednesday August 8th as a high level Cat 1 Hurricane. Sadly, about 40 of our 50 guests are scheduled to arrive in Cancun on Wednesday, with our wedding taking place on Friday. I guess there is nothing to do at this point by just wait and hope the storm breaks down, or takes a turn off its projected path. If anyone has some decent luck, be sure to send some good vibes this way. We are going to need it.
  8. This is the VENADO Terrace, located in front of the Venado room building. (above) And here it is set up for a reception. (above) This is the actual reception at the VENADO Terrace later that evening. (above)
  9. This is a photo of the TUCAN Terrace (above). You can see the Tucan Gazebo in the background top right. This is a photo of the TUCAN Terrace with a basic set up for cocktail or reception. (above)
  10. We used a Travel Agent, Teresa Stauring from Vacations for Less (amazing btw!), which I found from this website. All of our guests were asked to pay for their stay in full, 30 days prior to the travel, which they all did. Everyones trip is fully paid for prior to travel. Thanks for the good wishes on the weather.
  11. After working out the details and all costs with my wedding planner in Cancun, she typed up a detailed purchase order (invoice) with all options and prices. She also attached a payment authorization form. I signed the purchase order (detailed invoice) and also filled out the payment authorization form. I charged the bill to my credit. I figured in case anything went wrong, I would have more options for recourse with the credit card company. I scanned the info and emailed it back. The next day, the exact correct amount was charged to my card from PALACE RESORTS. I felt completely safe providing them with my info. But then again, I have purchased both an expensive car and an expensive engagement ring over the Internet without ever seeing them in person. So, maybe I'm risky/careless/trusting/naive? So far, everything has been good. If you are interested, I'd be happy to email you a copy of the Purchase Order detailed invoice that I signed and paid for. You could get an idea of what it looks like and how it's designed. Let me know.
  12. Both the Tucan Terrace and the Venado terrace are close to Nizuc section. If you look over in the Photos of Different Areas of Moon Palace thread, around pages 10,11,12, you will see numerous pics of both. I took photos of them empty, and with a cocktail hour and a reception set up on them. They are both very nice locations.
  13. I was requested to pay for all my optional services prior to arrival. Any optional service I had requested prior to leaving for Cancun was listed on a purchase order and I was asked to pay in full. Also, my bill for both Zuniga, and my bill for PSAV DJ equip was listed on the bill and I paid in full for that. We leave for Moon Palace on Monday morning. All of my optional services are paid for. My "wedding planner" Renee Garcia insisted that optional services NOW MUST be paid in full prior to arrival. Either that, or you can not guarantee any of them prior to your wedding coordinator meeting. You could take your chances that the optional services will be available, book them all at the wedding coordinator meeting, and pay at check out. I wanted to lock in my services, and am fine with submitting payment ahead of time. The only charges I will have at check out will be the day passes for the photographers, the charges from the salon, spa, and golf club rentals. Everything else has been paid in full. **Side note - It looks like Tropical Depression Five is going to form into Hurricane Ernesto and head directly towards Cancun about the time we are scheduled to arrive. If anyone on these forums has some good luck, do me a favor and cross your fingers that the Tropical Storm breaks down or turns off its projected path in the next few days. Thanks.
