  1. Alma, Remember this though - you have to give name of guests that are non Real guests. They check ID's before they are allowed entrance and given bands. The staff there at the resort are very well aware of all the vendors, etc. When our photographer showed up the bell boys knew his name immediately, they checked list showing we had paid our fee, then cleared him. I would just hate to see you have the stress of them not getting in on your big day. They seem to have pretty well covered all ways around you avoiding vendor fees if you use anyone other than their choice. My advice - don't chance it:( Sorry - just trying to be honest and help you out.
  2. Ladies, In response to the post below I am posting a pic of hair and make-up done at the spa at Gran Caribe. I took a pic of how I wanted my hair and make-up and it was EXACTLY what I wanted - even better. It was so nice too because they brought champagne to me and all the bridemaids/friends that were with me. Sorry pics are so big but I could not figure out how to shrink Quote: I'm getting married at the Royal Cancun just one day after you. I've got a few questions for you if you've got the time. When you did you site visit, did you happen to glimpse any weddings take place in the gazebo? That's where I'll be having mine and I hear the location of it nearby to Pelicano's is not so private so I'm curious to know what you think of it. Have you gotten far in your wedding planning? I'm really just starting my whole planning process. I've yet to hire a photographer still, so yikes! And did you ever try the spa at the resort? Will you be trusting them to do your hair and makeup? It's nerve wracking to be planning from so far away. Happy planning and enjoy the holidays =)
  3. We were there from December 13th - 22nd - it is an awesome resort - every wedding party is different - you will know what your wedding group needs and all I can say is both resorts are great and you will not be disappointed in either. You might also read on Tripadvisor the reviews - helped us out alot - and when we saw guests from The Royal went to the Gran Caribe for a little more lively atmosphere........ for our party that suited us best.....again it really depends on who will be attending your wedding. Please do not stress out over all your guests - they will have a great time at either resort ....if not the The Royal - simply go next door to the Caribe
  4. Just a heads up ladies....there is NO music or anything else at Royal in pool area....it is a resort really designed more for older or young couples who simply want a very quiet and peaceful time by themselves. It is beautiful and not one complaint - just know what you are going to get. Gran Caribe is just a lot more inclusive to a big wedding party.....meaning that NO there are no body shots or crazy drunk people running around - simply some music around pool and a few games. Gran Caribe is not a spring breaker type of resort - just in my thinking - more what fits for all your guests flying in for a a good and relaxed time. The Royal really caters top notch to couples only - not big parties of people or people wanting to all get together and have fun My thoughts only after being at both resorts ladies.
  5. Our party of 38 people all stayed at the Gran Caribe (except 2 who were a young couple) - mainly because there were children attending. We stayed on the VIP floor at Gran Caribe and loved it. Room was huge, spotless, oceanview, and the the staff were there for anything we requested. We were able to go to the Royal for dinner since we were on the VIP floor and I can tell you that there is no doubt it too is gorgeous - however, very quiet, calm, adults only hotel.Would not have worked for our large group of some young single couples/families with children who wanted a little more lively feeling . Perfect place for honeymoon though!! You will not be disappointed in either place - just depends on what you are looking for. They are very strict on not allowing anyone from Gran Caribe over to the Royal unless you have the upgrade - your Royal guests would have to come to the Caribe side (which to me did not make sense to spend the extra money if we were all congregating on Caribe side). The wedding was perfect and would not change a thing. Flora had everything exactly as requested and most of all our guests had the times of their lives!
  6. Just returned from wedding there and can tell you that it is not so much the rooftop terrace is bad BUT that it has the artificial green grass on it.I would suggest you try the Villa Terrace (oceanview and no carpet) or even the terrace in front of the gazebo for cocktails.
  7. Yes, we ordered from Save-on-crafts and had within 2 days. Flora used them in all the centerpiece flower vases, under tulle on bride/groom table and then rest in drinks. They came shipped in boxes of 18 - they were small and flowered shaped. The bartenders lined the bar up with the glasses of champange with the lights in them at the bottom. Again, we really simply took all our own decorations that we had brought and gave to Flora on Thursday and she did everything else as far as all the decorating on Saturday.
  8. As the mother of the bride above that was married on 12-17-11, I feel inclined to just add a few of my own personal thoughts. First, the Gran Caribe was awesome! Second, I can not say enough how much FLORA took care of everything to perfection for us. We simply met with her for less than an hour and explained how we wanted everything, where we wanted decorations and she did everything the day of the wedding exactly as we had requested. She was there throughout the entire evening and even suggested that with some of the leftover LED lights we had purchased that it would be neat to add to bottom of glasses of the mixed drinks and champagne glasses.......guests thought it was too cool! I am sure my daughter will post a more detailed review, hair - exactly what she wanted, make-up was gorgeous, etc. I just hope this helps with anyone with concerns or fears - you need have none. Hope you are just lucky enough to get Flora - she so made my daughter's day perfect!!
