hey, i am updating my website since some of my guests have asked me what to wear to my beach wedding. with some research on here and personal edits, this is what i came up with. does it sound ok? We recently had some guests inquire about what to wear to a wedding on the beach, so here goes: The wedding is "beach formal" What does this mean? Basically, anything you'd wear to a nice restaurant on a summer day is appropriate. Here are some suggestions: He could wear: A light weight, short sleeve, button up shirt (no ties or jackets required), linen pants or khakis, and sandals. (There are a couple of restaurants at the resort which require men to wear long pants as well). She could wear: A summer sundress and flat sandals. Makeup and hair can be natural and everyday. Basically we are having a no jeans/shorts affair. Most important, we want you to be comfortable and enjoy yourselves!

oh, i do have a question that i wouldn't mind getting second opinions for! my private reception does come with a head table. and then there are round tables that seat 8 people. i was thinking i don't need a head table as that would be silly to have one head table and then probably only one other regular table! what do you think? just do 2 regular round tables?

hey everyone. thanks so much for all your replies! you really helped me to gain a different perspective. although i haven't replied back for a few days, i have been reading and following everyone's replies. I am thankful that my fiance's parents are now coming! it was up in the air for a bit. and we booked them yesterday!! yay! so now we have 13 people booked including myself and my fiance. i also have 3 other friends that are 99% coming (no one is 100% until they are booked!). so i should have about 16 people total and i am totally happy and excited for a stress free wedding! and the attitude i have now is that these are the people coming - anyone else is a bonus that i am not expecting....so no room for disappointment! and i do agree about the dress thing. i lost my perspective for a bit because i was so down about everything, but OF COURSE i want my awesome dress to have awesome wedding photos! those are going on display for life! having an awesome dress should not depend on number of guests! ok, so someone mentioned banning together and sharing our plans. well another bonus of a smaller wedding is that i can actually afford the private reception i wanted. unfortunately i spent too much on decorations because i was anticipating 30 people, but oh well, i will try to sell as much as i can after my wedding. so i am having my ceremony on the beach with a canopy as the altar. and i will make a aisle out of silk flower petals. then we are having dinner indoors in the banquet room. then this will be followed by a 2 hour bonfire on the beach! - with DJ and open bar and everything. i am super excited! i would love to hear everyone else's plans.

Hello, i am new here and i am getting married on April 19th at Sunset Beach Resort & Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica! I am very excited. i know one person from school who got married there. she was on a budget and she HIGHLY recommended it. in fact, she totally sold me on it and the price was right. i would love to be in touch with more past and future Sunset Beach Resort brides, so please post here!!! i am doing my ceremony on the beach at 4pm. i know they have a gorgeous wedding gazebo, but it is on the grass and i totally wanted to get married on the sand right in front of the ocean. i would love to hear about your wedding planning and experiences at Sunset Beach!

i totally sympathize....i asked a very good friend to marry us and up until about a month ago she was planning to come! i am so disappointed not only because i wanted her to conduct the ceremony but because she is one of oldest friends. i still have some hope she will find a way last minute to come... and i also get what you mean about seeing everyone on here with so many guests! i guess its good i started this thread because it seems now like there are a lot more people like me, just no one was advertising it!

i just want to thank everyone so much for their replies. it really is helping ALOT! one thing that bothers me too, that i know i will get over, is that i might end with more people standing up with me at the altar because i have SIX bridesmaids, than i will have actually sitting in the audience!! but oh well. i guess the point is that those 6 girls are super important to me and they are ALL coming. and i am big time keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with FIs parents and they come. if at least HIS parents there, i will feel it is more like a wedding joining 2 families, as opposed to it only being MY friends and family. i like the stories about everyone spending so much time with their guests, i have that to look forward to for sure. especially since i recently moved from east to west coast and i miss everyone so much, and really all my favorite people ARE coming!

here are my beach wedding shoes, they just arrived last week and i LOVE them! -
LOL, i would say this is a bonus, but i already bought 20 welcome bags at $8 each! i ordered mini canvas tote bags from The Knot when they were on sale (with "Jamaica" embroidered on them). and i bought 20 decks of cards to put in them, personalized with "Montego Bay Jamaica", and i bought 20 personalized post cards to write my welcome notes! i bought 20 of everything anticipating we might even go over the 30 people i was expecting and i didn't want to pay shipping fees again for this stuff or not get them when they were on sale! anyway, so some of that money will be lost. i was going to do one welcome bag per room, but perhaps some people will get 2 per room - one for them and their guest/date that they bring along, LOL. how nice am i to do that?! although i am strapped for cash and trying to cut costs, so one consolation was that i could still afford a private reception if i am paying for only 15 meals and not 30 - the cost will essentially be cut in half!

thank you Nicole, this has already helped a lot seeing what other people i have to say. And i keep telling myself in my logical voice that all that matters is that i get to marry FI. and i know its true and i know that ON the day, i will be blissfully happy. but also knowing all these things doesn;t stop from feeling disappointed and frustrated at times.
-
hey everyone, we invited tons of friends and both our small families. i was anticipating/hoping for around 30 people to attend including myself and FI. this was partly based off all the friends i had telling me they really wanted to come. now we are less than 3 months out and FIs family is likely not coming (like any of them!). and most of my friends that were so hyped up still haven't booked or contacted me or anything! and my travel agent sent a reminder email to them after the new year..... so its looking pretty dreary. we have currently 11 people booked including me and my FI. i know for sure 3 others are going to book, and i am keeping my fingers cross that it works out with FIs parents. so that will bring us to 16! (14 if no FI parents).... still half of what i was hoping. i can't help feeling bummed about this and wondering if it was a bad idea to have a DW...but getting married on the beach was my DREAM! anyone else in or was in this situation? how are you coping or how did it turn out?
-
wow, that sucks. and i totally know how you feel! i don;t know if your wedding has passed already and maybe your situation changed? i just came across this thread now and i might be in the same situation. thing is, i seem more upset about FI's parents and family not coming than he does! i can't help but think it is not a wedding if only MY family is there! not to mention that we planned our destination around his parents being able to come - both location and budget wise and they STILL might not come!
-
this helps a lot! i really didn't know where to look and we don't want to spend $300 on a new suit! i LOVE Banana Republic and good call on going to the outlet stores! i will definitely look into finding one in my area. and i just discovered Express at the mall near me so i will look there too! thanks so much everyone and keep them coming

hi everyone, one more big thing on my to do list is to get something for my hubby-to-be to wear! i know he wants something light and comfortable for being out in the sun - and i want him to look nice next to my fancy-ish dress! so was hoping for some inspiration. Can you also tell me WHERE you bought his attire and how much it cost! thanks!!!
