  1. Muchachas in love with Vera Wang, I just found this listing on DHgate http://www.dhgate.com/p_ff8080812cd08d11012cdeed825c11af.html and it looks very similar to the vera wang skirt. The seller doesn't have many reviews or transactions, so I'm not sure about the quality of their work, but I asked the seller for pictures. I'm on the hunt for knockoffs, if not I'll have to fork over $1200, which at this point is very tempting because I am in love with this dress! The only reason I'm second guessing it is because even if I buy the original, I want to make some changes to it like changing the strapless to a sweetheart neckline, and lifting the skirt a bit so instead of it being a mermaid it looks more like a dropped waist a-line gown. This is the David's Bridal Vera Wang 351011 gown. BEAUTIFUL!!! Sorry about the bad quality of the picture, I forgot my camera and had to use my sister's phone.
  2. I just came accross their site too and I do not see any actual work. I want to get an imitation of Vera Wang's Diana, but I don't want to order anything without seeing how well they do first.
  3. That's a good idea KCB2011, Im so confused about what seller to go with and who does what best, but right now I figure I should just buy it and the worse that can happen is I don't like it and use it as a TTD or sell it.
  4. I went to Davids Bridal today to try on various styles to decide which style of dress fit me best. I had in mind that I'd only try on some dresses to decide whether I'd get an A line, ball gown, or mermaid. Then I came across the Vera Wang collection and fell in love! Its $1200 which is definitely affordable but more than what I wanted to spend. The style number is 351011. Its a fit and flare strapless organza gown with ruffles. Definitely not what I was going for but I loved it!!!! Now Im wondering if I should just buy it at DB or take a chance and order it online. I don't mind if its 90% similar, but I do want the fabric to be the same and the ruffles to be close. I'd be disappointed if they got the overall look of it wrong. Don't know what to do. I tried uploading a pic it Im on my phone and its not working well for me. I'll upload pics if I can.
  5. NHKinNegril your dress is gorgeous! Where did you get it? The dress I am looking at has a tulle overlay and I think they did a great job.
  6. You both chose great dates! I just took whatever date the church could give me, so it's 9/24/11. I'm so excited, we put our deposit in for our reception package from Chapel of the Flowers. The ladies there are so helpful! They've been so helpful with making the package exactly what I want, and I love that I can make all the payments online. I looked at the Platinum Hotel while we were in Vegas as well, and it's just beautiful! Such an elegant hotel and the Misora room at the hotel is just amazing. It has a full view of the strip. I can't wait!!!!
  7. wwwow! I love this cake! For Vegas, it's perfect! This picture is from simpleeleganceincakedesign.com I emailed them for a quote, but not for this cake. I might have to reconsider though.
  8. prettypigpig- Thanks, I'll just have to figure out what I want, silk or lace. And lately I've been looking at tulle! aah, I'm so indecisive. mochamakes3 - I know you want to change it, but I acutally love the way it looks! Keep in mind that while you're wearing it and walking, I'm sure the ruffles will be moving so it looks like it will have a very nice flow. If you want them to stand up a bit more, I would take it to the dry cleaners and ask them what can be done. Maybe some steam? I don't know, but it seems like the only thing that will really get them looking fluffy is some more fabric. magirl - your dress is beautiful! They did a great job! It encourages me to order one from them too now. Sucks that they didn't understand you wanted to beading on the skirt too, but I think it looks great without them. Hopefully you can make it work!
  9. For all you ladies that have ordered your dress online, did any of you specifically request silk satin? Do you know if Monica Bridal actually uses silk satin or do they use polyester satin? I'm thinking of getting a simple sweetheart neckline dress, fit and flare, with thin straps. I'm not sure if I want any kind of embroidery, but if I choose not to I would just like to make sure that the fabric quality is great and looks beautiful on its own. I was thinking of just going with an online seller that uses silk satin if Monica Bridal doesn't use it. Any suggestions?
  10. I love your dress choice! Beautiful! It's so unique. I think the changes you made will look great.
  11. I think we should all just get back to the point of this thread, which is about knockoffs. Let's not turn this helpful thread to back and forth bickering. Either way you see it, that post of a $6,000 "bargain" dress was not in the correct thread. And quite honestly, I felt more offended at that then ANY other posts. I think everyone should be directing their anger at the person who decided to discount $2000 off her overpriced dress and post it on here, which is a thread for brides looking for REAL discounts, not helping someone be reimbursed over 50% of the money she spent on her designer dress. Must be nice! Go feed off of other brides that don't know how to save real money. If that was how things worked, I think all of us would be buying designer dresses then getting all of our hard-earned money back by selling our used dress to some other poor girl that doesn't know any better. Come one girls, let's move on and prove that we're smart bride-to-be's. THANK YOU!!
  12. ok, so I'm pretty sure I read a post about this earlier, but I can't find it, can you please let me know how I can find Monica Bridal on dhgate? I've been looking but I cant find them! a link would be helpful too! thanks!
  13. It was very gorgeous! I was even more impressed in person! We are definitely booking our reception there. We also visited the Chapel of the Flowers, it is so pretty! I told my fiance if we weren't having a church wedding I wouldn't mind getting married there. It's very nice. I'll try to post pictures soon!
  14. I'm getting married in Las Vegas in October THIS YEAR! So I'm making a trip up there in two weeks to make some decisions on the reception place and other vendors. I'm looking at going to the Chapel of the Flowers to get info on their Platinum Hotel wedding reception. Hopefully it's reasonable! If not then I guess it's whatever we find while we're up there. As far as photography and cakes, we'll have to see! Any suggestions?
  15. I meant that at prettypigpig adcarter41 - that's awesome! if it wasn't for those elastic bands, I wouldn't even consider a strapless dress. When I tried them on though, I saw how snug they fit and how it wouldn't be a struggle keeping it up, so I loved it. I also like how you can have the elastic on tight, but the dress doesn't look like it's squeezing you in and you don't get those rolls right under your armpits!
  16. That chapel looks beautiful and I think it's the best one! I'm looking into getting my wedding reception through them, but not the ceremony since I'll be getting married at the Guardian Angel Cathedral there. Im looking for some reviews as well about their reception packages. Are you doing your reception with them too? So far all of my communication with them has been online. Every time I email them I never get a reply, so I have to chat with them. Even then, it took me a while to get information back, which wasn't really helpful information at all, they just basically copied and pasted the information from the website. I might have to make a trip over there and talk to them personally!
  17. Hi ladies, I've been reading this thread for days now to get ideas on which online site I should over my dress from. I wanted to ask all of you that have ordered dresses online what the inside of the dresses were like. I'm sure you have all tried on designer dresses at bridal shops, and when you try on a strapless it usually has an elastic belt inside to help keep a strapless dress up. Do your dresses include this? Or would that be something extra to ask for?
