  1. I just booked Marcia Roberts for photography! I know, cutting it pretty close to the wedding since we leave in 2 weeks!! I'm positive it was the right decision, her pictures are fabulous and she gives you an unlimited time shoot!!
  2. Has anyone realized that this thread is featured on the first page of the website right now? I just saw "December 2011 brides" so I thought, hey, click on that one, and it brought me here! Too funny...
  3. I organized my flowers with Jodi-Ann, I have centerpieces that are 3 cylinder vases with submerged orchids (3 different heights) and 4 white votives for $60/table. boutonieres are $20 and wrist corsages were $30 (thank goodness that i only needed 2 of them!) my bouquet is expensive, but I figured it is going to be in many photos so I'd better make it good! Its ivory roses, orchids and a few little baby blue hydrangeas...it's $140. The bridesmaid version is $80, very similar to prices here. Make sure she gives you what is included in the package as well!
  4. ladies.... Me too!! I'm planning on going out and drinking and misbehaving! The problem when you are 30 getting married, is most of my friends are married, with little babies!! I feel like such an old lady ! oh well....At least I know it will be what I want!!
  5. Starrysim, have a wonderful wedding!! I can't wait to hear your reviews when you get back!
  6. Morgan, Don't stress about the shower. I felt the exact same way last weekend! I'm usually the party planner, the one in the kitchen cleaning up etc. This is your time to shine and just remember, I'm sure you've been to many bridal showers and brought many gifts! Now it's you and your fiance's turn to recieve the courtesy. I went to bath and body works and bought mini hand sanitizers and gave those out at the door when people were leaving, and it's great because everyone could drop them in their purse! It made me feel like i was giving them something (despite the catering, wine and cake from the party!) Just relax, and have a fabulous shower!!
  7. Jacki, don't stress about the last 10 lbs....we still have a few weeks to go! As for me, my dress laces up the back!! I had my last fitting on saturday and will pick up my dress next week!
  8. Noudle99, They want it 4 weeks before. It cost us $110 to have our passports/long form birth certificates notarized, and then it was $70 UPS to Jamaica from Toronto (just to add to your wedding budget!)
  9. I emailed Marcia yesterday to book her for our wedding (which is only 4 weeks away! luckily she was still available) but i haven't heard back yet...I will try again tomorrow...maybe she is on vacation too ?!
  10. I looked into booking Rashel, but the cost for me was getting up there with vendor fees, day passes, etc....I got Silvia to book me at the salon at the grand for hair/makeup. I hope I made the right decision!!
  11. Does anyone know if we have to apply for a marriage license here ? How does that work ??
  12. Wow! I can't believe how much you have done! Everything looks great! I have to get on with some DIY projects too!!
  13. We ordered 8 suits! Custom measured...they emailed us to confirm some of our measurements...so hopefully they turn out as great as everyone else's! We (not me, him, but you know what I mean) went to Moore's for dress shirts...at least we will have shirts! THey should get here in time....
  14. ladies! I was away for a week in SanFrancisco! Just a pre-wedding get away that was well needed! As for my dress, it needs to be shortened, and have 4 bustles put in..I go back on the 5th for my second fitting! And our rings came in!! I'm working on favours this week...I will post what I come up with!
  15. Ok. We ordered 5 suits last night! I hope they turn out fantastic like everyone else's did! We bought shirts at Moore's over the weekend. It was buy one, get one free! But I think that promotion is over now. The shirts were 79.99 each, so it works out $40 each, which is a price everyone can handle!
  16. Nikadawn, that's what Im thinking, same flower, but white. I will make the other guys wear some sort of blue to go with my turquoise/blue bridesmaid dresses
  17. Ok. I have a silly question. Does the groom's boutinere have to be different from the other guys ? To make him look like the groom and not just another usher ?? What is everyone else doing ?
  18. wowie! Everyone's been working hard! We finally ordered the guys suits last night. We ordered them from studiosuits.com, the $99 dollar linen ones that everyone else keeps ordered. I just pray that we measured them right! We have to order our wedding bands this week and get our papers off to the wedding coordinator. I think we are going to make a CD for our guests of Jamaican music. (of course, that is not my job, since Im technologically challenged!) I have come up with our table favours. I ordered these palm tree boxes and i would like to put some jelly beans in them. I took my name tag off of another wedding I went to recently and stuck it on the front of this box, that way we can put these at each place setting without thinking they will blow away since our reception is at the steakhouse on the beach! I will justmake the font a little bit bigger. I also ordered these matches. I thought they were supercute, and the guys will smoke cigars down there and they only cost me $46 dollars for 100! they are light and hopefully will travel very well! The writing is in silver, I'm guessing it's my photo skills that made it turn a little silver!
  19. I have order all kinds of free stuff from vistaprint, BUT I did find the most helpful link to getting more free stuff this morning! I haven't tried it out yet, but it looks pretty good! And a lot of creative ideas! http://vistaprint-goddess.weebly.com/sample-email.html
  20. I have my first dress fitting tomorrow! I haven't even tried it on since I bought it in January, I keep peeking at the top of it when I look at it hanging in my closet. The seamstress tellsm e she only needs 4 weeks to do it, so things should work out nicely!
  21. cvgreene, I have Misha Earle's quotes, if you'd like it I can PM you with it. I'm also looking for a photographer, but haven't decided yet. I'm leading towards Marcia Roberts. She doesn't have a time limit, emails back promptly with any questions I have had for her and has the best price too!! She does include the vendor vees. I inquired with Merrick Cousley, but they are totally booked for the month of December!
  22. I just emailed the coordinator, and she said they only need documents 4 weeks in advance. So luckily I have time! I do have the long form birth certificates already, we just have to get to Fed Ex and ship them.
  23. luvmoo, That's good news to hear about Mischa Earle, I have her price list and Marica Roberts, they seem to be the two that people are happiest with. I never even thought about vendor fees, guest passes etc...
  24. Is anyone using the resort photographer ? My FI told me this weekend that maybe we should look into booking an outside person, I see alot of people using Marica Roberts or Mischa Earle, any suggestions ??! (oh, and if you have price lists that too would be fantastic!)
  25. Well, I can update you ladies on what I have left to do... -Im getting back most of my RSVP's. I gave everyone a deadline of October 15th. -my first dress fitting is on Friday!! I haven't had the dress on since I bought it in January! -I need to figure out favours ?
