  1. We are getting married May 12, 2011. I'd LOVE to save money, but you can't skimp on memories. I want our guests to have a good time and really enjoy getting to each other. I guess we can just hope we don't have more than 20 guests confirm. We'll see!! Thanks, Maur!
  2. Ok ladies!! I need your advice...Fiance and I got into an argument yesterday regarding our destination wedding...he's in a bit of sticker shock with how much this is all going to cost us. We have about 40 people coming to our wedding and we're going with the Ultimate Pkg, hiring an outside photographer and also hiring an outside DJ. With the number of people we have coming, we have to pay extra for the additional people over the 20 DT includes in this package. He was thinking of just doing hors d oeurves after the ceremony and then everyone would be on their own for dinner, then we'd just meet at 10:00pm to dance the night away at the disco. I, of course, would like to have a semi-traditional reception with the toasts,garter toss, bouquet toss, dancing, etc. I'm thinking the reception is a way to celebrate with your family and friends your new life together as husband and wife. I told him that his idea is silly and that all of our family and friends traveled to DT for our wedding/vacation and it would be nice to have a nice family dinner/reception to all celebrate. What do you think?
  3. We're doing a symbolic ceremony as well. Does anyone have an outline or wording for this thing? I've heard some brides write their own? Damn - I'm not that creative but I'd like to see what you are all doing. It'll help get my creative mojo going
  4. Thanks gals! I'm just getting a bit frustrated with this! I want to get more information so I can have it for our invitations and so i can also update my "wed-site". As much as I want them to provide me with more details - I don't think I should be asking them anymore questions. Â VlynnW - I'll have to take your advise and just do it!!
  5. I had asked Natalia about having the DJ provide the sound system and music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception. She said that the DJ cannot play during the ceremony and that we'd have to rent the sound system for any music we want played. During the cocktail hour, we have to use the trio that's included in the Ultimate Pkg and then we could use the DJ (outside vendor) for the reception. Is that right? Why can't the DJ play our music for the ceremony? I also thought thought we would have to pay for the day pass for the DJ and photographer (if using outside vendor) and it was $90...what the heck?!?
  6. Good point about the OOT bags...Which package did you go with? I've been reading a lot of posts stating that it would be more economical to do the Free package and add the other things you want onto it...I'll have to try comparing the pricing to see how it all works out, but we will have about 40 guests. I need to win the lottery!! Â
  7. HELP! Ok - we're getting married May 12, 2011 and I'm trying to figure out what documents (if any) we need to bring with us. We are doing a courthouse wedding for the legal stuff and then essentially "renewing our vows" in Mexico in front of our family and friends. I've sent several emails to our coordinator and haven't really gotten a straight answer. I asked if we need to bring documents for our symbolic wedding since we'll be legally married already. This is my second marriage, so I'm not sure if they need my divorce docs or not...anyone know?? Â Also, after reading several posts on here, my FH and I are deciding whether or not to hire an outside DJ and photographer. Who did you use? How were they? How much did they cost? I don't want to make this more expensive than we budgeted for but I do want our guests to have a great time at the reception and also I want our pictures to be amazing! Â I'm just getting a gut-feeling like DT is nickel and diming us for every single thing! $3 +tax +gratuity to deliver OOT bags? Really? Anyone have any money-saving tips they can share?
  8. My fiance and I were debating what we should do from a music standpoint - DJ vs sound system...does anyone know if the resort DJ's are any good? I'm looking to have them do the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception...thoughts?
