I was actually there this past labor day and the weather was perfectly fine. The forecast said rain every single day, but I think it rained a total of one hour the whole week. I think it got cloudy a few times, but they left as quick as they came in.
Regarding hurricane season, obviously there is no way to predict it, but the chances of one coming towards cancun at that exact time are pretty slim. The gulf might get 3-4 hurricanes per season. I think cancun felt the affects of 2 last year...but no major damage...only rain and some winds.
In short, I wouldn't change your date only because of hurricane season. Maybe just have a plan in the back of your head just incase something were to happen. The ONE positive thing about hurricanes is you have a few days (or week) notice, versus an earthquake or other major disasters.

I mean this was the only holiday weekend that worked for us and our families and now I'm thinking it might get ruined because of the weather?
Any Brides who've gotten married or visited the resort around Labor Day? What are your thoughts?

I will share when I get some proofs

Have a blast Maggie!! Which photographer are you using? I was surprised at the number of options in Houston.

Aww...so glad you feel better! You'll have to keep us posted on what happens!!

I definitely would like to salvage our relationship, but don't want to lose out on what my dream was for myself getting married and my MOH.
I am trying really hard to remember this is about US...not everyone else...(not usually my outtake on things)!!
I was really hoping that someone out there that is getting married would say exactly what you said to ease my mind!!! I just didn't know if I was being too harsh! I agree, I am going to have a talk with her today and see how it goes, but I think I am ready to test her with "the twist" on how busy we are going to start getting!
I do have my best friend who knows exactly what is going on, and would be willing to step up if need be, or stand WITH the accused MOH....LOL...whatever I want is what she will do, and she totally understands! (thank goodness!)
Thanks again, I feel SO MUCH BETTER about my predicament!

As your date gets a little closer you could try talking to other brides getting married the same week as you. There are 4 of us the first week of May sharing an awesome photographer and we got an amazing deal. I would have never thought it could be affordable to fly your own photographer in...but it really is possible!

Also I would love some input on flowers! My dress is ivory/champage and I've choosen a blush pink for my bridesmaid. I was originally thinking stargazer lillies but I also love the idea of cala lillies. What are your suggestions?

Oh my...I know what I would do...and because you are even sharing this with us...I think you know what you should do too.
It is YOUR wedding and you should in no way just "suck it up". However its much easier for an outsider to suggest to dump her and find someone better. Would you be willing to risk completely losing her as a friend? You'd like to think that would never happen, but considering there is already some friction, it could be possible, and you'd have to be prepared for it. Make sure you arent just mad about these recent events and forgetting about any qualities that made you chose her as your MOH to begin with.
Have you asked her if she really wants to be your MOH? You could always turn it into her idea! Its sneaky, but you could test the waters by saying "planning is about to start getting really hectic (name a few examples of what you'd want her to do) and I know how crazy busy you are and would completely understand if you'd rather be a bridesmaid (or just a guest)". I think that is the route I would take if you are trying to keep your friendship.
Did she give a reason for asking if you are really in love??? That is such an insane thing to ask a best friend that just got engaged!!!
Do you have a back-up MOH? In my 18 months of planning I was very surprised at the people that have helped me and been excited for me...and the ones that could care less. Its definitely one way to find your true friends.
Ok, I'll step out of my therapist chair now

I asked my closest cousin/one of my best friends to be my maid of honor. She had been living over seas for 3 years, and shortly after she came home I asked. Things between us are not the same.......it has been 5 months since I asked her to stand by my side, and she has given me a bridal magazine, and I had to keep on her to check out the resort on-line when we confirmed! Furthermore, she has said quite a number of hurtfull things to me and things I like to do with my life in the past few months (such as "who likes to go to stupid dinner parties? thats not my idea of a good time)"...when she was just at my house for one 2 weeks prior) and saying "I feel like I haven't done anything for your wedding..." which she hasn't, but more so, hasn't even shown an interest.
I am scared I am going to be 7 months down the road and wish that I had done what I am feeling like doing, which is telling her this is not working out. I always envisioned my maid of h. being oh so happy for me and wanting to be there to help/giving me ideas/being super excited to be involved. I am not getting any of that.......
Would you make the hard decision to let her go......or would you suck it up?
We aren't even speaking at the moment after her comments on the weekend!!
I should also mention, she sat me down and asked if I was really in love or not!! I was shocked! Everyone tells me all the time how happy we look together etc. ??? She said she just wanted me to make sure I was doing the right thing....(after I had asked her to be MOH)
What would you do?

Holy cow...is it time to pay our final bill??? I havent spoken/emailed with my WC in almost a month!
Obviously I dont have things finalized, so can i continue to make changes on my detail sheet after making this payment?

And ladies, I paid my final bill today!! 45 days to go! I am so ready, well not really. Ready to go, but only if someone else finishes all the work I need to do! ha ha
Happy St. Patty's Day girls! Hope some of you are getting to go out and celebrate on the town. Me, I'm off to my second job bartending in a few short hours. Gonna be a long night, and a super long Friday! Gonna be gorgeous here tomorrow though, 78 degrees. I may have to skip out a lil early!

Adorable! No wonder you wanted an excuse to wear that steel gray dress again...it looks absolutely fabulous with your red hair!!
Mine is coming up April 2nd...though I still have no idea where we are going. I recommended Midtown, so we'll see what happens

Hi Lesley - I took my dress to Laura Couture Alterations, and she did a fabulous job! It was about $400 (ouch), but I cant imagine taking it anywhere else. She paid attention to tiny details that I would have never thought of until it was too late!

I'm baaacckkk! Europe was great...but I didnt get to enjoy it much since I was working the whole time .
Then the legal wedding in Vegas was FABULOUS!! If anyone is planning to have their legal wedding in Vegas, I highly recommend the Wynn. The wedding coordinators were amazing to deal with! They took care of every tiny detail and responded to every email within minutes. I literally planned the whole thing in 24 hours and it turned out so gorgeous. Here are a couple of pics... Its kinda funny to see the height differences in our families (my parents are in the top pic, and his are in the 3rd pic down)
The white flowers behind me are not in my hair! They are in a vase behind me, but look like part of my hairdo...hehe.

So I'm sort of in a manic panic rght now and had to share... Work told me on Wednesday that I'm going to Europe for two weeks! So exciting, except I leave tomorrow...eeek. To top it off, I have fly straight back to Vegas to make my secret Vegas wedding in time (march 12). I'm not sure how much internet access I'll have, so you might not hear from me til I'm a (secretly) married woman!

Less is more - sooooo happy to hear they treated you perfect! I've been thinking about your situation daily and was so anxious to hear how it went. Yay!!!!
-
try googling "cheap tshirts"...one of the top options should be for vistaprint.
Let me know if that works.

Hey Nikki - Ill send it over to you. Mine is purely a template...so words/photos or anything. It just took me so long to get the page numbering to match with my computer, that I wanted to share what I have so far
-
Haha...my imagination took over when I read steel "grade"! I was thinking how uncomfortable that must be
Sounds like so much fun...you'll have to share pictures!

Melissa - Instead of Pepto, I got Tums Quick Paks on Ebay (72 individual paks for $13, including shipping/handling).
Also, I see your questioning the first-aid kit...I had that on my original list, but since my OOT bag is including advil, tums, bandaids, etc...it seemed a separate first-aid kit might not be necessary.
Lastly, there is a really great thread in the general section. I think the title is "OOT Bags, what worked and what didnt". Or something like that?

Pepto Bismol (ebay) (we ended up buying single dose packs of Immodium from an ebay dealer called: barginsdelivered. They were very helpful, and based in the US, so it should be really cheap for you)
Shout wipes. Try a site called http://www.minimus.biz/ They have an amazing selection of everything travel related. Super for those of you in the US, the shipping to Canada made it too expensive.

So, I told my MOH (whos planning the party) about your theme...and I think we will do it too! So cute.
Are you wearing a bridesmaid dress too? Or are you wearing white?

I am so addicted to VistaPrint right now. You guys may already know this, but depending on the link you use to get to the website, you get different prices!
This is how I got the tshirts for $4.50! If you go through a different link, they show up $8. Its so crazy! If anyone is interested in the Ts, let me know and Ill see if I can send the link.
Then I found a way to order 100 post cards for free (just pay $6 shipping)...10 minutes later I went through the same link and ordered a different 100 for free again!

Oooh...I forgot about the international stamp thing. I'm using post cards in lieu of a guest book. I'm going to make a variety of post cards and put them in everyone's bags and ask them to write us a note when they get home. So in the end we will (or hopefully we will) have a mixture of photos with everyone's notes on them by the time we get home from our honeymoon!
I'm hoping we get a better outcome with these than with the RSVPs (hoping everyone is still on a high from the vacation or something!).
I forgot I need to get ahold of canadian stamps for all of our canadian guests! Anyone in the states know how to get canadian stamps? And how many would it take to mail a postcard from Canada to US?
-
So Houston girls....when/where are you having your bachelorette parties? None of my friends live in Houston...so I have to pretty much tell them where to plan it
Right now I'm planning on Mid-Town (thanks maggie!)...just curious what everyone is doing!
-
Awww thats too bad! By looking at her website, I would never picture her showing up in Jeans!?!?!
Thank you so much for the heads up!
-
Jessie...I am completely in LOVE with the second dress! They are both gorgeous...but for my own personal style...the second one!
Actually, if you dont take it...I might sell mine and get that one! Hehe...just kidding...I'm a little out of time to pull that move.
-
Also, I started on my welcome book this weekend! Talis is having his bachelor party weekend, so I'm keeping myself super busy! I wanted mine to be the size of half of 8.5" X 11 landscape and couldnt find a template anywhere. It was quite a challenge to find the right numbering layout to match with my printer's format! Many hours and almost a ream of paper later...I have my template!! Someone was asking about Welcome Book Templates a few pages back...so heres mine!
Oh...and Murmel...I really like your opening welcome note...so I hope you dont mind if I borrow!

Vista print is having a great Tshirt sale right now, so I've been busy trying to design a shirt for my OOT bags! As with everything else, its so much harder than it seems! I've realized its impossible to come up with one design for everyone...so I made 2. The one with the photo is for the older generation, then the graphic T is for the younger folk (probably 40 and under). I'm sure there's exceptions in each group, so they can swap or something. I'm going to try to order them tomorrow...anyone have any suggestions/comments to make them any better? I'm so not good at this creative stuff!
oh, and..."J'aime Talis" means "I Love Talis" in french...so its not a typo

Ok Zavas Plaza ladies...Christmas Lights...
Got the quote today...$50 per strand! Definitely bringing my own! For those of you planning (or already did) bring lights...how many strands?
Then unfortunately I'll have to rent tiki torches (though $8 is much more reasonable!)...how many of those do you recommend?
