  1. Oh, you girls are going to laugh at me.  I literally NEVER go out (or drink) anymore.  So, no surprise...Friday night we drink a little too much and end up just staying at my house all Saturday night as well.  All I originally wanted was a girls weekend at my house, so in a way, I ended up getting what I wanted!!  haha.  Its actually been years since this same group of girls had been together, so it was perfect just to hang out an play catch up.  Just wasnt quite what the other girls thought they were getting into.

I had the crazy bachelorette weekend every weekend I lived in Vegas!!

  2. I'd be curious to see this girls full complaint?  I'm almost positive Azul uses the exact same certificate, its just for a symbolic its not a legal document.

Also, I'd say over half of the ceremonies they perform are symbolic, so its really not "pretending" for them.  A ceremony is a ceremony.  Maybe this girl made a bunch of changes to Azul's typical program which could have made the minister uneasy.  Especially with the language barrier.

Regardless, I really wouldnt worry about one girls complaint.  I trust all of the girls opinions/reviews on this forum far before anywhere else.  :)

Back to a positive note... My Bachelorette Weekend starts in 1 hour!  Yay!!!

  3. Sorry...I know this is a repeat question, but our group is so active its so hard to go backwards and find anything!

Christmas Lights.  How many 50 light strands do I need for Zavas Plaza?  I know there are 6 poles, but will 1 cover a pole or does it take 2?  or 3??

I ordered my lanterns today.  Yay!  I had delayed buying them because I couldnt figure out sizes and quantites...so I copied Amy!  She sounded confident with 6 - 10" & 6 - 14"   :)

  4. I was also thinking of that other plaza just outside the premium section.  All of my guests are staying in the premium section, so I thought it would be convenient for anyone that wanted to freshen up.  But would that be TOO close to their rooms?  Do you think people would skip the cocktail party and just hang out in their room if it were that close?  Or am i over thinking it?

We're doing an hour cocktail party before dinner and we're just using the "front" part of the plaza for a standing reception.

  5. Your right...as long as she is staying 3+ nights theres no outside vendor fee.  Regarding cost of travel...will you be booking her flights/room, or will she book it and charge you for it?  The "traveling costs" can get you if you dont know how much itll be in advance.

$1000 is a great price...especially if you like her style and own the rights.  At my vegas wedding, they tried to charge me $900 for the rights to my photos (and it was only 45 minutes of photography...50 photos!).  Needless to say, i did NOT purchase the rights to them.

Do you have more details of everything included with the package?  Sounds like a great deal!

Also, maybe check with others getting married before or after you in case they want to share travelling costs :)

  6. Oh, and since its sometimes hard to trust a websites photo, here's a pic of mine next to a coke can for sizing.  This is straight out of the box, so I might iron it or something.  The pocket in front is perfect size for a card or note.

  8. Agreed.  This sound system should be included and ready for an iPod.  I think lots of girls had no problem with this.

My MOH's husband plays the steel drums, so he'll play our ceremony music.  I'm sooooo excited about this!  Especially after seeing Lomas charges $2000 for a steel drum player!!  I was slightly worried it would draw a crowd...but oh well...as long as the crowd stays out of my view and photos!

  9. I actually emailed her and am trying to work something out!  My problem is I only have one weekend available, and its not good for her.  I tried pleading and apologized for the late notice...I told her I wasnt going to do it until this girl Maggie raved about her!  :)

She said her assistant might be able to do something that weekend.  Did you meet her assistant?

  10. Welcome!  I pretty much did the same as these ladies...  Sent passport invitations in July (for a May wedding) and most people booked by November.  We orinally planned on these being Save-the-dates, but we ended up putting SO much info on them that people treated them as full invitations.  Thank goodness cause I ran out of money (and time) to make more formal invitations later!

You'll notice the fun thing about a destination wedding is there are no rules!  You can do whatever you want.  In my case (and alot of girls here) none of their guests have ever been to a destination wedding, so they have no clue what to expect.  So if you leave out things at last minute...they'll never know...haha!

  11. I'm one of the May brides with tons to decide!  :).  My WC takes a few days to respond to my questions, and she hasnt said a peep about final payment.  So I'm just leisurly making decisions.

She said there were some brides that still had a ton to decide. I should have all my stuff wrapped up by the end of the week

  12. Tiki Torches - I have no idea where they will go.  I thought I remembered other people having them, so figured I "needed them".  Maybe thats just on the beach though.

Is Excellence Riviera Maya the same as Excellence Playa Mujeres?  I was looking at the later cause its one of the only 5 stars in the area.

I arrive May 4th.  What day do you leave again?  I really hope I dont miss you!

We are switching to the Excellence Riviera Maya for our "honeymoon" nights, which is only the last 2.  I picked it b/c I wanted to go towards the airport, not away so we have more time there that last day.  It has like 2500 reviews on tripadvisor and most are good.

Jaime, what date do you arrive in Mexico again?

  13. Question # 2 of the night.  We were originally planning to go far far away for our honeymoon, but since the wedding is nearly emptying our savings...we're considering saving a flight and staying in Cancun/Riviera Maya area, then do the far away vacation next year.  Anyone have any tips for the #1 most romantic, pampering, perfect Honeymoon resort in the area?  Preferably all-inclusive.

We were going to book El Dorado Casitas...but wanted to check with you ladies first in case you knew of anything better.
