  3. Shan-Sorry, have been away from the computer for awhile! We got more than we needed with 5 hours for the day of the wedding. We definitely could have gotten away with 4. Since our wedding was pretty small, we didn't really need a lot of photos at the reception. The last time I looked at his prices, they were: 2 hours = $650 4 hours = $1300 5 hours = $1625 8 hours= $2600 10 hours = $3200 That was back in August of last year, so they may have changed since then. We posted all of our pictures to a Shutterfly share site (it has pictures from our and a couple of our guests' cameras, too, but the professional photos are in their own albums). If you are interested, the website is andrewandamandaweddingphotos.shutterfly.com. There is a wedding album and a TTD album, Sascha was the photographer for both.

  5. Alfred Angelo Style #: 2070 Chiffon with Crystal beading, Sequins and Rhinestones Corset back Size 6 (although I am actually a size 8 and it fit me--it is a corset back, so it is somewhat adjustable) I bought two dresses because I couldn't decide between two, and ended up going with the other one, so this one has never been worn, and has not been altered in any way. I think I bought it for $650-$700. Will sell for $550, or any reasonable offer will be considered. Shipping will be included in the price. Will accept Paypal only. Here is a link to Alfred Angelo's information on the dress: http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx?productID=9a629f1f-04d6-47b1-8b40-7c6dbebb944b&categoryID=119a6cfd-c64f-4a7c-8ebe-9a7587576787&pg=1&colorId1=
  6. Congratulations on booking, GeorgiaPeach! We just got married 2/13/11 at MP and we booked Sascha Gluck for our wedding and a TTD session afterwards. He was AMAZING and his pricing was VERY reasonable. We did a 7-hour package (5 hours the day of and a 2-hour TTD session the next day) and it came in right around $2,000. He also offers smaller packages for less. I would definitely check him out! cancunphotos.net Good luck!
  7. Late September isnt too bad in terms of heat, but early september is still pretty hot. The month is definitely one of the best times to visit the Vegas area, but VOF is a little warmer than the city. 11-3 is usually the hottest time of day in the late summer months. If you are getting married in late September, chances are you should be okay with the heat around 2pm. If you are getting married early September, you may want to consider pushing it back an hour or two. It will be bearable either way, but you may want to have some sort of umbrellas and water available for your guests just if it is earlier in the month.
  8. We were all near each other, not right next to each other, but everyone was within a few doors down of each other. Anyone who upgraded to an ocean view room when everyone else is in a standard room will be in a different area.
  9. Erinbrooke--photos aren't blogged yet; he said it usually takes him about 2 weeks, so hopefully sometime in the next few days!
  10. We were just married on 2/13 and are so thrilled that we were able to have Sascha and Lars as our photographers, I just had to post on here and rave about him! The first thing I will say is this: If you are considering hiring Sascha--DO IT! You will not regret it! We wanted to do both day-of coverage and a TTD session the next morning, so he put together a 7-hour package for us: 5 hours on the wedding day and 2 hours the next day. GETTING READY: Sascha and Lars showed up at our door right on time, maybe even a few minutes early. Everyone on my side was running a little late due to some hair issues, so when they arrived it was just me, so I was thinking "shoot, what the heck is he going to do until everyone gets here?". They both just got right to work! I had my dress out and a few things I had brought with me, and he pretty much just walked right in and started shooting! He started out with a lot of detail shots of the things I had brought with me (the dress, the flowers, a special hanger I ordered from etsy), then he got some shots of my doing some makeup before the other girls arrived from their hair appointments. Once they got there, he really started snapping away again, and showed us a few of the photos as he was taking them--they looked AMAZING. I gave him the cash around this point because I didn't want to have to think about it later on. Lars headed over to the guys' room about an hour before the ceremony. He stepped out of the room while we got the dress on, then came back in after everything was covered to get the lace-up shots and final touch shots. After that, we went outside for a few shots of the bridesmaids and my parents, then we headed over to the ceremony site. CEREMONY: We didn't even notice he was at the ceremony until some of our family shared their pictures and he was in them--really up in there, too. There are some pictures where you can see him rolling around in the sand in the background, or on his knees getting close up shots of family members or bridesmaids. It was amazing! He was very behind the scenes the entire time. SHOTS DURING COCKTAIL HOUR: We got some shots with our guests and did a couple group photos immediately after the ceremony. He told everyone how to stand together and all that, so we were well-directed. After the group shots, the bridal party went out on the beach and did some shots together. We were kind of out of ideas and he thought of EVERYTHING, so he would tell us to go "walk this direction for awhile and have girl talk" or "ok now everyone go sit under this cabana"--it was pretty awesome. After a ton of those shots, we did some couples shots with just the bride and groom. This is where Sascha got really amazing. He was rolling through bushes and climbing on top of fences to get amazing shots. He showed us a couple of them after he took them and they looked unbelievable! After that, he and Lars walked around and got some shots of everyone sitting around talking and some shots of the tables and flowers. RECEPTION: Both guys were pretty behind the scenes at the reception, too. Every now and then we would see them get up close to something or get some action shots of whatever we were all doing. We had saved some seats for them to eat, of course, so they ate pretty quickly and then got on their merry way snapping more pictures! They got lots of photos of dancing, and Sascha had the bridesmaids get up on the dance floor for "crazy girl dance" photos. That was really fun! After that, things mellowed out and he politely came up and let us know that they were pretty much finished--they had even stayed a little bit later than we had scheduled them. He confirmed with us where and when we were going to be meeting the following morning for the TTD. Even as they were walking away, they were still snapping pictures of whatever they saw. Amazing! When everyone was starting to head out from the reception, all of our guests were just raving about how amazing and professional Sascha and Lars were. They were definitely a hit with everyone since they were so fun! TTD: The night of the wedding, we were REALLY impressed with Sascha and Lars, and when we met with Sascha the next morning, it got even better! He knew his way around our resort (I had seen in his blog posts that he had been to the Moon Palace a few times before), but he really knew his way around. He took us out on the pier for some pictures, then into the garden areas where he had us walking in the streams and laying on the bridges and sitting on the rocks. During the whole thing, he was directing us, but he wasn't telling us exactly what to do most of the time, so I felt like he really let our personalities come out. He would say "okay, you stand here and then you.....seduce him" and then he would just click away. Then we went out on the beach and took some photos on top of and under the little towers they have out there. Then came the part where we got into the ocean--that was interesting! Sascha was again rolling in the sand and he was chest-deep in the water before we were! After we were in the water, he had us rolling on the beach and getting sandy. We both felt really comfortable with Sascha and nothing was awkward at all. After all of that, he walked with us back near our room and we said our goodbyes. It was kind of sad to see him go! Overall, the experience with Sascha was amazing--I am so happy we found him. I can't wait to see more of our photos! People from our wedding are still raving about how great they both were and how excited they are to see how the photos turned out. Even the hubby is telling everyone who couldn't make it all about him, and he wasn't excited about the photography at all before the wedding. I highly, highly recommend him. Our experience was fantastic and I wouldn't have changed a thing!
  11. Valeria's email is [email protected] I just got married this past Sunday and she was my coordinator. She was pretty awesome! She took care of everything we wanted with no problem at all. Loved her!!
  12. Hi ladies, Getting married next week and just looked at the weather forecast...it's supposed to rain all week! Anyone know what they do in this situation? Do they just throw you wherever they want or do we get some say in it?
  13. We're getting married next week and a lot of our guests have been sending us complaints about booking the airport-resort transfers. We did ours a month or two ago and had no problem, but I went to look at the "book transfer" area online and it looks like they have completely changed the site...and now they charge $48 per person to do it? I thought it was like $10 or something and we didn't have to give them any of our credit card information when we booked ours. Apparently now you have to pay up front and when most of our guests (and I tried it a few times for a couple of them, too) tried to submit the request, they got an error message back. Anyone tried this lately and had this issue or no issues at all? Thanks, all!
  14. Oh my gosh, that condom idea is AWESOME! Hahaha. That's a really good idea! I wonder if we can only put them in some of the bags and then specify which bags go to which rooms--does anyone know?? I love that condom idea because it's pretty funny AND they might come in handy! I think most of our guests would get a kick out of it...I just wouldn't want to put any in my grandparents' bags. They'd probably be like "Oh look, water balloons!" That's kind of what I was thinking for the postcards, but wasn't sure if everyone would think that would be weird, but it seems more practical to me. First of all, trying to figure out the postage thing and all that. Secondly, where are they going to find a mail drop box in Cancun, anyway? I'm sure the resort might have one, but I wouldn't want our guests searching for an hour over that entire huge resort to find a dropbox. I am definitely going to go with your idea! Especially since we have a bunch of leftover personalized postcard stamps from our save the dates (also ordered from Zazzle). I just love Zazzle, apparently! Thanks for all the ideas, Vettiebean!
  15. Gosh, we have tried EVERYONE, we thought. We were told by the WC to email Xochitl Esquivel, and he pretty much said we had to wait. I emailed the WC again to complain that we were spending so much money at the resort, and no one would be able to book their tours because of the awkward times they would be arriving while the vacation planners desk was closed, etc., and she said she would put me in contact with a supervisor that she thought would be able to get it done, and nothing ever happened. We will definitely give Wily a try and see what happens. Thank you so much for posting his contact info!
  16. Hi all! We are doing Welcome Bags for our guests. Since we only have 26 people coming, we are doing one bag per couple, but we are going to try to stuff them pretty well (probably two of each thing that is a more "one person" item like chapstick or loofas). Here's what's going in ours: -Welcome letter with itinerary of events -Map -Bug Spray -Loofa (2 in each bag) -Travel size body wash (2 in each bag) -Mexican Candies -Gum -"Too Much Sun" Kit: sunscreen, aloe, spf lipbalm (2 in each bag), lotion -"Too Much Fun: Kit: Advil, band-aids, Alka Seltzer, Shout wipes, hydrocortisone cream -We were also thinking about putting a few pre-stamped postcards in the bags, one addressed to us with a note on it that we are substituting the post cards for our guestbook. However, we weren't sure if we wanted to have to deal with international postage. We don't even know how much it costs to send a postcard from Mexico to the US or how to get a hold of stamps, so we kind of just put it on the back burner. If anyone knows the answers, please let us know! We had personalized stickers made for the two "kits", which will be made out of small velum bags and then folded over and sealed with the stickers. We also ordered our bags from Zazzle.com. They ended up being about $6 per bag for the bargain bags (including a 30% off coupon that we received via email), but we were very picky with the image and we were able to personalize them without any sort of personalization or printing fee, and the quality is actually really good. We were pleasantly surprised. I'll have to post pics as soon as I have some time.
  17. Our wedding coordinator originally put us in contact with Xochil Esquivel to book things as well, however since he couldn't do anything for us, I emailed the wedding coordinator and told her we were willing to pay for tours up front and then be reimbursed by deducting them from our vacation dollars when we checked in or out, if that's what it was going to take. She forwarded my email with our concerns to a supervisor, so if anything comes of it, I'll be sure to post, as it might be a solution for others, too.
  18. Hi all, we are getting married 2/13 and have had some issues with using the vacation dollars to book tours. We were unaware that you couldn't book any of the tours before checking in, which is causing problems for man of our guests. We have some guests who are arriving the evening before a tour leaves (Chichen Itza for example), and by the time they are checked in (the day before the tour), the vacation planners desk will surely be closed. Has anyone found a waynaround this at all, or had the same problems? We have many guests who are afraid the tours they want will already be booked up by the time they check in a day or two before it departs. If anyone has been able to get around this, please let me know! Mostly, I just wanted to get it out there that Palace has not been accommodating with this at all, and I have been very happy with them up until this point. We have even offered tonpay for the tours up front justnto reserve our spots, and then be reimbursed in vacation dollars or whatever when we get there, which is apparently a no-go. Our guests (and us) are dropping thousands of dollars to stay here and have the wedding here. The points aren't worth much if most of our guests won't even be able to use them. Â
  19. Alison, Did your WC put you in touch with JSAV? The only options they sent over to us were the packages they had listed in their "DJ Packages" spreadsheet that they sent with all of the other information. Is this something completely separate? Whatever you used sounds WAY better! How did you go about getting that all set up? Thanks so much!
  20. That is my concern, too, but I wasn't willing to pay an extra thousand dollars for it. I figured worst case scenario, we would have the best man or my father do it. I actually wrote to my WC about it asking her what most people do for that situation, and as soon as I receive a response I'll post it.
