This is a picture of the cake design that we have chosen its called 'Diamond and Roses'...instead of the gold trim around the bottom we will have a silver trim with white and lilac roses, silver diamante necklace and the cadbury purple ribbon..

well at the weekend I went to have a look at a wedding car, i'm going for Vintage, the car is lovely and the people are really flexible with times etc Wayne wasn't able to come and so we're going up tomorrow to have another look and put the deposit down.  I also went for a wedding cake consultation with cake tasting yum yum...we tried carrot cake, chocolate, lemon, cherry, fruit, vanilla and they were all lovely we are having difficulty deciding.  I'll try and get some pics up for you.

i'm also starting to feel the strain now of paying for everything i'm worried that we're not going to do it all in time...god only knows why i didn't just stick to getting married in mexico it would have been so less stressful...but I suppose this way I get to have my sister and nieces there which is a big thing for me.

Hi ya ladies

sorry i haven't been on in ages, i'm in the middle of studying for exams at the moment and it's not going well at all (as usual), between the revision, work and wedding planning i've hardly had any free time and my daughter is also studying for her GCSE exams which start next week so the house is full of stress at the moment.

As usual i've got loads to catch up on I can't believe Nicy is a Mrs now, I can't wait to see her pictures.

Sam - Regarding your SIL, all i can say is sod her and do what is right for you and Calv. When we were going to Mexico everybody had something to say either about why we had chosen Mexico or that they couldn't afford it despite us giving them 2 years notice.  Now we've decided to get married in the UK (mainly because my sister has 4 kids and it would have cost her a fortune to come and i despite me thinking I could do it without her in reality I really needed her to be there) anyway now those same people are complaining about us NOT going to Mexico and how much they were looking forward to it.  You really can't win hun, just do what is best for you two.

Michelle - Only 3 weeks to go whoop whoop!!! Your hen pictures are great it looks like you really had a fab time and your mum is classic.  I haven't really got anythinig to say about MIL except 'F' her, why did she even bother to come.  How thoughtfull of your bridesmaids to get the memory book that is such a lovely idea. I'm glad the scan went well and Harrison got his braces off in time for Mexico.  Good that little Scarlett is feeling better too x

Lisa - Oh how lovely of that singer to send you an email.

Amurka - I love the invites hun.  How bloody mean of your MIL to do that to your FI no wonder he's so upset. 

I watched the Royal Wedding, Kate looked stunning, i'm not a fan of lace but her dress was just perfect for her.  Pippa's dress was just beautiful so elegant.  I am so emotional at all weddings and this one was no exception lol.

Nicy if I don't speak to you before then good luck hun, have an amazing Wedding and holiday, enjoy every second it will be magical...i'm so excited for you, your day is finally here...i can't wait to read your review and see all the pictures xxx

Hi girls

Just wanted to say thanks for all your kind words and sorry that I wrote it on here, but I just didn't know where else to turn and needed to get it off my chest.  I know it's not nice to read about something like that but thank you.  I just spoke to my brother and he had a cry yesterday and got it all out, he said he is feeling better today.  They have booked a week away to Turkey just to have some rest and get away from it all.  His girlfriend is coping pretty well at the moment so I hope they come through it stronger. 

My bridesmaid dresses were delivered yesterday all 8 of them lol...I know its a bit soon to get them but the girls loved them and the lady told me she was discontinuing them soon so we took a chance.  4 of my bridesmaids are a perfect fit, they have not changed size for the last 5 years so doubt they will in the next year.  the other 4 of my bridesmaids have ordered sizes slightly smaller in the hope that they will fit into them by the wedding...I have told them that we are going to have bi-monthly dress fittings for the rest of this year and then monthly from next year so they had better get their butts into gear...lol

The dresses are gorgeous i'll try and find a picture for you.

I put on my FB status yesterday that the dresses have come in and about 1/2 hour later Waynes cousin put on her FB status 'when i get married i'm going to have both sides of the family involved in the planning not just the brides....so haaaa'!!

I didn't take much notice first of all and then thought omg i think that's directed at me...I then started to get upset and said to Wayne it's going to look so bad because 7 out of the 8 bridesmaids are from my side of the family as are the 3 flower girls and 2 out of 3 of the page boys. 

I don't know what to do because I don't just want anybody being bridesmaids i want the people closest to me.

For my bridesmaids i've got, my daughter, my sister (moh), waynes sister, my 2 cousins (who are as good as sisters), my cousins daughter, and my 2 best mates.

For flowergirls i've got my 3 nieces and for page boys i've got my 2 nephews and waynes nephew.

Is it wrong that they're all from my side...if Wayne would have had more sisters, nieces, nephews etc then of course we would of had them too but he doesn't and i can't help that i have more of them.

Well girls, i have had such a rough week.  My brother's girlfriend is 22 weeks pregnant, they went for her scan on Thursday to find out the sex but the doctor couldn't see so they referred her to St Georges Hospital for the next day.  I thought this was strange as usually they don't bother but didn't bother to say anything to my brother. 

Anyway turns out when they go that they see a specialist who tells them that the baby is not growing properly, the baby is severely disabled and paralysed and if she goes full term won't live longer than 1hour.  Apparantly the baby is growing in 2 sacks part of the body in one and the rest in another, the doctor said it's a really rare condition, he said he's been a doctor for over 25 years and has never seen this condition before so it will not happen again to them.  

They had to make the decision on whether to go full term or terminate the pregnancy...they chose to terminate but because she is so far gone she'll have to be induced and give birth.  They booked her in for yesterday which also happened to be my brothers 23rd birthday...he is so broken about it can't stop crying and obviously his girlfriend is in bits too...my brother just came down to my mums today with all the baby bits to store it in the loft.  its just so emotional!!

Nicy - how exciting that your tickets came, omg not that long now, soon you'll be a MRS!!....fantastic news on the upgrades, what a lovely way to start of your weddingmoon xx

Lisa - well done you on the weight loss, i seriously need to get my fat arse into gear i'm putting it on instead of losing it...I love food too much!!...how lovely of your friend to give you a surprise hen, can't wait to hear all about it.

Kerry - I visited 5 shops and probably tried on about 30 dresses, I had 2 favourites but wasn't getting that feeling, then I went into Berketx and the first dress i tried on i burst into tears, i found 'the one'.
 

Michelle - sorry to hear about the computer, i hope you can manage to restore some of the stuff, but at least you'll still have your gorgeous wedding photos to look forward too. xx

Nicy & Michelle i can't believe you are getting married in a few weeks, so excited for you both.

Nicy your hen pictures look like you had so much fun, I was sitting there with Wayne like this is my friend Nicy on her hen...he was like who's Nicy, oh you mean one of your virtual friends...loooool, he really doesn't understand how important you girls have been to me!!!

Well we've decided on a hotel we're going to go to the Royal Playa Del Carmen, Thomas Cook have their prices out now but they are the only ones so I can't do price comparisons, although Caribbean Warehouse told me that Thomas Cook usually come up the cheapest....i'm just going to wait a bit though just to see.

I'm seriously panicking now because the wedding seems to be coming around so fast...i know it is not until next year June but we're in April already...i'm worrying i'm not going to save enough money, I'm scared Wayne will hate my dress, I'm praying it doesn't rain, I'm worried about the day not coming together smoothly....aaarrgghh i've got 14 months of worry!!!

Don't know if i said but Wayne asked his best friend to be his new best man and he happily accepted...his brother is still being silly but his loss!!

So i'm in the process of trying to choose a hotel in Mexico for our honeymoon.  We were originally thinking of the Royal Cancun, but i've recently been leaning towards the Playa Del Carmen area as it is alot more relaxed, laid back but we still have the option of 5th Avenue for shops & bars.  I am now thinking either the Royal Playa Del Carmen or Iberostar Grande...I know that everybody on here has done extensive research on Mexico hotels so if you can recommend any it would be a great help. 

We are looking for an 'adults only', 5 star, preferably all inclusive, with all the extras like room service, mini bar in room etc.

Off to get the bridesmaid last alterations at 3pm, do you remember those dresses I managed to get for £11, I'll put the picture again, well have found a lady who has altered them for £20 each......so all in all the dresses have cost me £31 each.....do love a bargain!!

 

Well ladies, I can't believe that I am going to say this but I have had a really nice two days with FMIL.  She came back on Saturday and we had dinner and Wayne went out for a few hours and me and her just chilled, the comments have stopped, she is really interested in the wedding and making helpful suggestions.  Our mums just met for the first time today and we had a lovely Sunday dinner, the atmosphere was nice and comfortable and our mums got on really well, we finalised the guest list with our mums help...she did bring up the cake again but said that she will just bring a little one for me and Wayne as a keepsake which I said was a lovely thought. She is like a completely different person to Thursday.

Good news today is that she is staying at her cousins tonight but she will be back tomorrow morning.  Bad news is that she asked me in front of FI 'Oh sweetie won't it be lovely if we could go shopping together on Saturday and then you can show me your wedding dress'...I kind of muttered something about being busy but then FI was like Oh are you what ya doing?? I said i've just got plans i'll see if i can rearrange but I doubt it.   There is no f-ing way i am taking that woman to see my wedding dress, she'll do nothing but critisize it...i'll just have to leave the flat before she gets back tomorrow.

We've arranged dinner on Sunday for our mums to meet for the first time, I just hope for MIL sake that she is on her best behaviour because is she upsets my mum I don't think there'll be a wedding by the time i'm finished with her!!!

DAY 1 - OF LIVING WITH FMIL

OK so I've been at work since 7.20am just because I needed to get out of the house and avoid FMIL...yes it has been that bad and sorry I need to vent!!!!

So FI picks me up from work yesterday, we go straight to his mums house to pick her up and he has to pull up all the carpets as well because they are getting dumped tomorrow.  So FI goes straight upstairs to make a start and i'm sitting with FMIL in the kitchen, I swear I wasn't even there 10 minutes and she looks at me and says horrified "OMG Charmaine, what has happened to your hair, it is really thinning, you can practically see your scalp on top" ...well what do you say to that, I didn't even realise there was a problem with my hair, but how lovely of FMIL to point out (she is a hairdresser by the way) so I just mumbled somethng about being stressed with work and day to day life so maybe that's the reason.  She then recommended some herbal tablets from Holland & Barrettt that make your hair grow...I just say, erm thanks!!!

After about 1/2 hour of being there we got on to talking about the wedding and I was telling her all the things i've put deposits down for.  She asked if i had found a cake yet and I said no but i know what kind of style i want, something simple, not too fussy, but still pretty, i said we've got a few friends/family that make wedding cakes so we're going to look through there portfolio's.  She then said to me "Well what i'm going to do is when I come over for the wedding i'm going to bring a wedding cake from St Lucia, the lady that made mine is just amazing"...wtf did i not just say that we were getting a cake and how the f is she going to get a wedding cake over from St Lucia????...I said to her thank you for the offer but like i said we're going to get one made so we'll already have a cake.  To which she replied "Yes I know sweetie, but this one is going to be a St Lucian cake and it will look and taste amazing, and besides it will be my present to you both"...I said yes but the one that we will have made will be beautiful too because I would have chosen it so it will be exactly what I want and then she said "well then now you'll have two to put on the cake table won't you"....grrrrr i decided it best to give up at the point. 

Anyway we get all her things together and eventually go to our flat, my cousin is waiting for me outside with her daughter, I introduce them and we all go inside.  FI goes in the bedroom to have a shower and get changed, I ask if anybody wants a glass of wine and FMIL says yes, btw i've given wine up for lent so I don't have one, and my cousin says no i'm alright thanks to which i whisper to her, i'll give you 5 minutes and you'll be downing the bottle and she gives me a look as if to say Oh she can't be that bad!!  Anyway the 3 of us are in the kitchen and then the next minute she practically shouts to my cousin "Oh sweetie, what has happened to your hair" (my cousin has her hair scraped back in a ponytail), my cousin is like what do you mean?? and looks at me, I just smile back at her as if to say I told you so.  FMIL then proceeds to say "Well honey it has really thinned out at the sides I mean I can see where you've tried to syle it so it doesn't show but the bald part is quite evident, you really should stop pulling your hair back so tight, i've given Charmaine the name of some herbal tablets that help your hair grow, i'd highly recommend them for you too"....well my cousin didn't know what to say and i just pmsl (well inside) .  Then my cousin said, actually Char I will have a very large glass of wine....and i thought sod lent I need a drink so we ended up going to my bedroom and finishing the bottle!! 

My cousin went so it was just me, FMIL, FI as my daughter was at choir paractice until 9pm.  we then got onto the subject of my daughter and she was saying how much she has changed over the years (more confusion as you've never even spoken more than 10 words to my daughter), she then asked what star sign she was and i said Libra....hmmmmmm she says....well wtf does hmmmmm mean, so I ask her.  She then proceeds to babble on about how librans are very self absorbed people, they're quite selfish and into themselves, spend most of their time looking in the mirror and then adds but in a good way don't take it offensively........i just smile sweetly and say, yes she is a wonderful daughter and what teenage girls isn't self absorbed and spends all their time looking in a mirror, but selfish she most definitley isn't!!!

We then got back onto the wedding and i was showing her the drapes and how they transform the room and was telling we'd really like it but we're not sure if the budget can stretch because they are really expensive but we're going to try...she then asked how much it costs and i said i'm getting quoted about £2000...she then goes "hmmmm well that's not bad really is it when you said expensive i thought you meant in the region of £5,000".....what i wanted to say was "IF I'TS NOT THAT F*%$KING EXPENSIVE WHY DON'T YOU OFFER TO CONTRIBUTE TO OUR WEDDING AND BUY THE DRAPES INSTEAD OF BRINGING US A F*%$KING CAKE WHEN WE'LL ALREADY HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!   what i did was smile and go to my bedroom. 

I'd also just like to point out that after careful examination over a bottle of wine there is nothing wrong with either my cousins or my hair and although we found a few grey hairs there were no bald patches.

Be sure to log on tomorrow for DAY 2 - OF LIVING WITH FMIL!!!

Oh Michelle, i really don't know how i'm going to cope.  I'm sitting at work watching the time, Wayne is picking me up at 4pm and then we're going to get her.  I'll have the dishes and hoovering done in no time, so god knows whats going to keep me busy.  I just hope she is going to make an effort for Wayne's sake if nothing else.  I just don't want anymore anomosity before the wedding and I know that she is going to ask why BIL is not bestman anymore...I just don't know if i have it in me to put up and shut up anymore!!!

OK girls i don't know what i've done to deserve this but FMIL landed in the country yesterday. She is selling her house so has come over to sign papers and sort out the stuff in the house.  She is staying at the house but it has been vacant for 6 months so the gas is off, FI went to visit yesterday after work and brought her some snack bits and took out for lunch but when he got back he said the house is so cold and dirty because its been vacant for 6 months and she was sitting in the bed with her clothes on and he felt awful leaving her there.  I knew he wouldn't ask me if she could stay but I felt compelled to offer because she is his mum and if it was my mum there wouldn't even be any hesitation she would not be staying there.  As soon as the words came out of my mouth I wondered what I was thinking.  FI asked her if she'd like to stay and explained that she would have to kip on the couch but she said yes she would love to, she is only here for 1 week but i have a feeling it is going to be a looooooooong week.....what am i going to do????

We are picking her up straight after work today, i've got about 3 loads of washing to do, the dishes are in the sink, the house needs hoovering...you know the usual!!!  I'm hoping that it will be ok and she has changed her ways since we last saw each other but its probably wishful thinking....

I apologise in advance for the amount of moaning and cursing that I will be doing on here over the next week!!!

I just need a bit of advice, it might sound like a bit of a dumb question...do I send my save the dates out to everybody, even if i'm only inviting them to the reception and not the actual church ceremony or do i only send it out to the people who are attending both ceremony and reception???  Even as i'm writing this it sounds like a dumb question, I am assuming that I would send it to everybody regardless of what part of the day they are attending...but just to be sure please advise!!! 

I had the photographer/videographer come around on Saturday to show me his portfolio.  Wow wow wow, is all i can say, i was so impressed, his photography is amazing, he also showed me 3 wedding DVD's just the highlights and i was blubbing like a baby watching them.  We've decided to go for the 'storybook' album, i don't know if you girls know these type of albums but they are amazing like a magazine telling the story of your whole day.  Because we booked the videographer too, we got a 20% discount on his already very reasonable prices so I have come in £300 under budget.  We're going to put this towards trying to get the draping for the golf club.

Lyndsey, I love the brochures, they are fab hun and the picture is wicked.

Michelle, Your hair style looks amazing, I love the side style for the bridesmaids and little Scarlett's. xx

Nicy, I'm glad that you're feeling better about the AHR, I agree with the other girls if you're not having a sit down meal it shouldn't really matter as you do want people to be up and dancing.  Try not to stress babe, it will all work out in the end and you'll wonder what you were so worried about. xx

I've also seen this cake that i like, i don't want anythng fussy just simple but nice.  I might add some butterflies on to it.
