  1. Hey all! FI and I spent the last couple months coming up with a playlist of songs from high school, college, and our favorite: Michael Jackson. cheesy, yes. I know... but we love R & B from the 90's. So now the problem is that I have 5 hours of my all time favorite songs that are danceable (slow & fast), some latin grooves for my family (just like 8 songs), and classic songs too, OH... and some must have late night grooves too. Our dinner is an hour and I've got the mellow tunes for that, the problem is that the reception is only 2 hours. Our group is kinda small but we're all into dancing and I wanted to make sure that I had a little for everyone. How do I get rid of songs that I LOVE?? I'm leaving in less than a week so I'm kinda crazy about this!!
  2. Good morning ladies! SO I'm working on the playlist for the reception since we're doing the iPod and soundsystem and I've run into the problem that I have too many songs! I loooove music and it was really important to us to have a lot of music from our high school and college days, but I also have latin music for my family, and some classic oldies, but then with the dance tracks I have over 5 hours of music for a 2 hour reception!! For those of you that used the sound system instead of the DJ, where they really strict on the 3 hours? I'm hoping that they'll let us go over a bit since we are the only ones that night... Does anyone have any ideas of how I can pare down my list?
  3. So I emailed the Spa about my appointment, hopefully the appointment was already booked or there are no conflicts... I can't believe this is actually happening! I'm so excited... so many things to get ready! Should I call the airline (AA) about my dress? I'm not checking it in.
  4. Does anyone know where to find linen pants for boys? I'm having such a hard time locating some at the end of summer When I booked my date with Ana she sent me a contract and it had my makeup and hair suggested appointment time (ceremony at 6, hair and make up at 2). Does this mean this is my actual appointment or do I need to go ahead and book that myself? Also, my TA contacted the resort about the free nights with 6 rooms being booked. She said that she has to submit all the info the week before and then she'll find out what we get. Does anyone know how this works? We are staying for a week, but 3 are staying 4 nights, 1 staying for 3 nights, and 1 staying for 6 nights. How do we get comped if we've already paid thru our TA? She doesn't have the details of how this works. OMG... less than 2 weeks to go!!

  7. Just try to relax! It sounds like there's going to be a lot of excitement at your wedding (other than yours!). Maybe you can start passing the word that you want to be kept OUT of the drama loop, rather than IN it. As for family you've never met... got to meet them eventually, right? At least this way you'll be too busy to actually sit and get to know them and you won't have to worry about possible awkwardness. Just relax and have someone tell you about the craziness when you get back home! I'm meeting my FI's aunt for the first time and from what my SIL says... she's kind of weird. LOL!!
  8. To those of you that have the script... Is there any way you can copy and paste it onto this forum? Or even add it as an attachment. I thought it was a violation to ask someone to email you anything...

Here's the deal with that though - you won't know which restaurant until you get there and it is based on occupancy. So it can be done, but you'll have to have a plan b in case it doesn't work out. Does having the reception in one of the closed down restaurants cost extra? Seaside Grill looks great, we're having less than 25...maybe pool deck/terrace could be plan b?

They already have air but no hotel!! still need to get the cake topper, fans & make pomander for flower girl. FI just now ordered his shirt from weddingtropics.com (yes, just NOW) Need to edit my ceremony program and print out. Also need to edit my passport books and print those out too! You can also buy them from their website, it is just MUCH cheaper to do it on your own. For the escort cards.. I bought the 4-5 inch finger starfish. I will attach the word document I used to print them out. I then just cut those out and put and added sand from the beach... that was it :)them on two different colors of cardstock, punched a hole in them, and tied them on It was very simple! I bought a 12x12 wooden box from Michaels Erica, I LOVE your chair sash alternative! Did you pay extra for your chairs? I was under the impression that the standard chairs are buffet with white spandex looking covers.... and I wouldn't be able to hang the raffia/starfish loop thingy you have. Also, how many guests did you have? Thanks, Cathy

Our ceremony is at 6 and emailed her with my concern about having enough daytime light for pictures and she said they could come back the next mornng o another day at no additional charge! That way you'll have a lot more pictures to choose for your package

However, I was busy with my catamaran trip. So I didn't even see her until I walked down the aisle. It was ok, but I would have liked to have met her first. I put together our script but she also had a script that we could have used if I prefered. Do you know who your officiant is? If it is Rosa, I have her script and can probably share it with you. Are all of the officiants women? I too, put together our own script and I'd like to get it to the officiant a week before we get down there. When did you know who your officiant would be? Did you have some type of rehearsal with Ana since you didn't see the officiant until THE moment?
  16. does DRC have an airport shuttle? I just found out that those that didn't book with our TA are on their own!! I'd be willing to pay extra if DRC has a bus or van but I was hoping someone on here would know before I called the hotel directly. Cathy
  17. For those that had their hair and make-up done... or will be getting theirs done: Are you using your own make-up and tools and having them do it or do they have supplies? I use bare minerals because I normally sweat my makeup off (I live in Texas) but I'm not sure if I should have them use my own make-up or not. When I was a BM in Hawaii (much less humidity than Texas) the make up artist used liquid and I was shiny all night. It's pretty humid in Puerto Morelos, right?

  19. I have a 2 tier ivory chapel length veil for sale. the longer veil is chapel and the shorter is about elbow. there is no piping or lace trim, just a very simple and beautiful veil. I was planning on using it but then changed my mind. I'll put pictures up when I get home tonight but PM me if you're interested! $50 OBO Cathy
  20. Surprises of surprises... Ana emailed ME last week! she said she needed a head count and sent me back an updated contract. I've decided to drop the dj we will only have about 18 people including us so it doesn't really justify the cost. I already had an extensive list of music that I wanted the dj to play but I'll just throw it on an iPod and the special songs on a cd. For those ladies that were married here... how did you pack your dress? I have a full size dress (not a "destination" dress) and I'm thinking of just putting it in a suitcase and sending it back with my parents. Did you just take is a a carry on or pack it up? I'm so excited! we leave in 42 days...
  21. our colors are light blue and chocolate... i'm 5'10 and my dress just touches the ground... I can't walk in heels after a few drinks... so here they are! AND they were on sale at the converse store for $15
  22. Does anyone know the cost for DJ Doremixx for the reception vs. sound system? I know it's on this thread somewhere but I'm having a hard time finding it! Is it 1200 for dj and 600 for sound system? Thanks, Cathy
  23. welcome and happy planning! make sure you make your way over to our DRC thread, there are great reviews and lots of answers to questions you might have or haven't thought of yet! I'm getting married there in 2 months!!

I think if you have more than 20 it would look nice, but you're right: the beach is beautiful enough.
