Im loving the ppr but not sure my guests can afford it.
Going to do some more digging into the PPC as well.
Any feedback from brdies on PPC?
    Thanks
Just be aware that the phone bill could be very expensive if you don't have an international calling plan. I found this out the hard way! Check out the PPC/PPR thread if you want more info and feedback, there's lots of info there!

white OR flowy- I'm thinking something bright and islandy. I'm finding I'm too short to pull off a flowy dress
  4. Hi Katie! Congrats and welcome to the forum. This site has so much information, I really hope it helps you with your search. Good luck and enjoy your planning!

  5. Hey Christy! I'm getting married at the PPR in 2 months! My family and I took a trip there about 4 years ago (shortly after it opened) and absolutely loved it. I have my fingers crossed that it will be just as amazing as we remember it. I know the prices are high but I really think it's worth it. Unfortunately, I haven't been to the other resorts so I can't help you there but my best friend recently stayed at the Cap Cana and loved it!

I can help you with activities available at PPR...there's golf, scuba diving, snorkeling, and horse back riding. All are supposed to be included but when I recently looked at the website there was a $ next to horse back riding. I'm going to ask the WC about that. My FI, his family and friends are into golf and scuba diving so I'm thrilled they're included. Golf is off site at a fancy course. I think it's about $35 per person for the cart rental. Scuba diving has 1 tank of oxygen included per day. Night life was pretty low key. There's a small disco and casino. I think it'll be great for our party to take over. Honestly though if you're looking for a more fun nightlife you might want to look at the Paradisus Punta Cana.

Wow this response is way long! I really hope this helps you, good luck with your search.

So very true! You have to keep your emails direct and with only one or two questions...otherwise they don't get answered! It's very hard for me since I too am a control freak and short on patience.

As of now there's 20 of us...might go up to 35 but our friends and family are taking their sweet time with booking (ugh!). Either way I ran the numbers and it's still less money. I've heard great things about the Jelly Fish restaurant...good luck!
  8. Hey Anna! I'm getting married at the PPR in 2 months...it's been a bit difficult planning from a distance via email. I honestly think a lot of it boils down to a language barrier as well as the volume of weddings they are handling at a given time.

I'm not sure where you are having your reception exactly. Is it at the Gabi Terrace or the Gabi Beach Club restaurant? I definitely don't think they should have named the two locations so closely due to the amount of confusion. Either way I'm pretty sure the colors are more earthtone with gold accents.

I definitely recommend communicating with the hotel through one email so all of your information and quotes are easy to find. It's unfortunate but the prices do change each year. As far as I know, you pay the prices advertised for the year you book. You have to stay vigilant and keep being vocal. What was their reason for changing your price??

I hope everything works out for you. Good luck!

  9. I know it sucks and with today's technology we tend to expect an immediate response but you're going to have to get used to it. They're busy with other weddings happening now or in a few days and they might be running on "island time". Most of us wait a few days for response from our WC. It's just how it goes. I guess it's better to know now instead of finding out later during your planning. Don't stress, you've got plenty of time!

  10. I'm glad I'm not alone with trying to get FIs wedding attire together...my guy doesn't know why I'm rushing him. I almost screamed! I ordered the shirt swatches a few days ago bc the pics online were difficult to tell the difference.

My dress fitting is in an hour! So exciting and I ordered our OOT bags the other day...I can't believe we're in the 2month range!

  11. Hi Cindy! Congrats and welcome to the site. I'm from NJ too! This site has been so helpful for planning my DW, I hope you find it useful too. Make sure to check out the Dominican Republic section and the NJ Brides thread! Good luck and enjoy your planning.

  12. Sorry that just seemed like a lot of $$ not that I would know since I've never golfed. I was going to recommend the Cocotal Golf Course just bc it's all I know from our resort but I noticed it was on the website you posted. Did you try posting on the Excellence thread? Maybe some other brides have had a similar question...Good Luck!!

  13. Hi Helene. Congrats and welcome to the forum. You're getting married a week after me! Please do yourself a favor and stop reading TripAdvisor, like everyone else said it's horrible!!! This site should offer you legitimate wedding reviews for your resort with pictures and insight from previous brides. Check it out under the Dominican Republic thread. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your planning!

  14. Depends a lot on your approach and preference...I booked a little less than a yr beforehand because I wanted our date and wanted to get the planning process going. My resort locks in the wedding prices for the year you book in...so we booked in Aug 2009 and are subject to 2009 prices not 2010 which have gone up. We put down a $500 deposit for the wedding but didn't book our rooms and flight until a few months later. It's really up to you, good luck!

  15. 50?! I honestly don't know how you're so calm...that is ridiculous in my opinion! I just don't know what is so difficult about putting the rsvp in the mail or calling you to let you know they're still trying to make their plans. I have a few more weeks to go and I think I'm going to go crazy. We were doing well when the invites initially went out but now the responses are trickling in very slowly! I know people are trying to get a better deal and airfare is really high right now but I hate not knowing how many people are coming or how many OOT bags to order. You have a great attitude Sheree, keep it up!
