Sheree- our DW will be our anniversary. The civil ceremony in the states was for a matter of convenience and to save some money. I plan on going in shorts and a tee shirt and we're not exchanging rings or anything. Funny, our civil ceremony dates are exactly a week apart!

My wedding is exactly 3 weeks away and the resort is driving me crazy!!! They sent my estimate and wedding details on Saturday and everything was wrong. The bill was at least $1300 more than it should be and a lot of the details were outdated and not what I want. I sent back a pleasant but direct email regarding the changes and questions I had, but still no answer!!! These decisions and the bill are supposed to be finalized this Monday but I don't see how this is possible if no one returns my emails. Needless to say, I am stressing!! I'm actually thinking I'm going to have to call corporate or something. Other than this huge mess I am really excited our wedding is so soon...I just hope all of this gets straightened out before I go crazy!!!

I put them in our head count but added the number of children and their ages. Most resorts have a cut off age for counting as an adult. For example, we have a 2 year old and 4 year old attending. The 2 year old is free and the 4 year old is half price. I hope this helps!

My mom was with me when we chose our invitations and she agreed completely that our parents' names didn't need to be included since they are not paying for our wedding.

I was thinking $50 each for the WC, DJ, head waiter, and photographer. We're also having a Dominican Trio- since it's 3 guys I figured $45 ($15 each). I was thinking $10 or $20 for the hair stylist and make up artist. This all depends if we're happy with the services but as of now it brings us to almost $300. We also plan on bringing plenty of $1 and $5 to tip the maid, waiters, and bartenders. So I'm guessing around $500.

Definitely talk to your mom...like Janine said, she might have some other way of contributing and you won't know unless you talk. We're paying for the wedding completely ourselves. I've known for a very long time that my parents weren't going to pay for a wedding. They would rather help us with buying our home, which I prefer. I hope everything works out for you!

I love this thread, definitely very funny and makes me feel less evil esp. about my FMIL. My confession is that my FI has a motorcycle and I've yet to let my parents know. He has a condo in FL and it lived there until a few weeks ago. Now it's up here in NJ...I know I'm an adult and I shouldn't be scared of what my parents will say but I know they're going to flip about me riding on it. I'm kinda hoping they won't find out until after we're married and moved into our house and the bike is in the garage. So that's my confession...

Such cute bags!! Did your guests need the cups? Or did PPC give them large enough drinks they didn't need them? Just curious because I didn't do cups and I'm worried the drinks the resort gives are going to be too small...

Congrats and welcome to the forum Denise! There should be a lot of info about those three resorts in the Dominican Republic section. Also, remember you can find info quickly by using the search function. The Excellence is supposed to be awesome since it's pretty new but it's adults only- not sure if that affects your decision.
