  1. I just returned from 10 days at the RPRM. I was strongly considering this hotel for my wedding. The grounds are gorgeous and the pool is also great. Based on that alone, I would have booked this hotel for the wedding, as I am probably going to have 60-70 guests. However, staying there was another story. Please keep in mind that I did go when the hotel was full to capacity so that might have something to do with the bad food and service. I was sick for about 4 days from the food. At dinner one night, I was so sick I had to leave the resturant and when I ran out, my fiance told the waiter I the food upset my stomach and the waiter said that week they had been getting alot of complaints about the food. My fiance and I travel 3 times a year to the Caribbean, and I have never experienced this at any other hotel. Literally after almost every meal I ate there, I felt like my stomach was turning. Also, the service was lacking. My fiance and I go to the caribbean for the beach, not so much the pool since we have a pool in out apt complex, and the service on the beach was non existant. We asked two different waiters on the beach for drinks 2 different times and they never even came back! Also, the rooms are sooooo damp, especially the bed. When we were cheking out I told the front desk that the food made me sick, not asking for any money back or anything, and instead of just saying sorry to hear that, he asked if I reported it at the time, almost questioning me. I am sure my experience had alot to do with the hotel being so crowded this week, but if I brought my 60 guests to this resort at this time, I would feel horrible. I am not writing this to scare anyone, because we did have a few good meals, Krystal and Japanese, but I feel now more than ever that site visits are very important. We did a site inspection at the Cancun Palace and I cannot even tell you the difference in even the pina coladas. They were made fresh in the blender unlike the Riu where it was pre made and booze poured on top. I did see a few weddings at the RPRM and they were pretty though. I think the most important thing is to find a resort that fits you and your guests. I guess I feel so strongly about this because I am bringing alot of guests and do not want to waste anyones money on a bad resort. I understand that food in all inclusives are never the best, and people have different standards, but as long as it is edible and doesnt make anyone sick that is all I am looking for. I am even considering going down to the Cancun Palace for a long weekend to experience it before I make my final decison, but I stayed at the Sun Palace last year and it was excellent, so I am pretty confident in Palace resorts.
  2. Has anyone booked their guest for their wedding through a palace member for a bette rate? According to the weddings department you can do this and that counts toward the free private functions you get when you book 20 rooms.
  3. Has anyone gotten married at either of these? I know Cancun just recently started having weddings. I am going down to Mexico in 2 weeks to check out some resorts, and have a tour scheduled with both places. Do you think the Cancun Palace is too small to accomodate 60 people?
  4. Hello Everyone I am getting married July 2011. I originally thought I was going to have it a the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, but now am leaning towards a Palace resort in Cancun. Palace gives alot of incentives (free private reception, cocktail hour, 7 days comp, and kids are considered under 1. I am headed down in March and staying at the RPRM, and am doing a tour of the Cancun Palace. I have also stayed at the Sun Palace and thought the food was very good and the service outstanding. They are giving me a price of 320 per night based on double occupancy, which i think is pretty reasonable. The RPRM gave me 350.
  5. Does the Palace Resorts have DJ's or can you rent one from somewhere else in Cancun for the reception?
  6. FutureMsMoulton How did your guests book? I thought they can only book directly through the hotel in order to get the free reception.
  7. Woodsylou, did you get the free reception and nights free with so many people booking at the Moon palace? That seems like a really great incentive to me. I'm going to Mexico in March to check out some resorts. I don't care if there are a few weddings the same days as mine, as long as its not very rushed.
  8. I am now considering having my wedding at a Palace Resort (maybe Cancun), instead of a Riu. I just feel like you get more for your money, and it is cheaper for my guests. I am wokring with someone from Destination Weddings, and she said that she does not reccomend Palaces becasue brides don't feel like they get the attention they deserve, and it is rushed. I actually have been having a great experience with them because they answer emails very quickly and are even available to talk. It took me a month to even get a quote from the Riu for a group rate, and foreget about returning emails about wedding questions, or calling to talk to someone! Can any Palace Brides let me know if it is a wedding factory? Thanks!
  9. Hello I was looking up the wedding packages for 2011 and the Caprice package is now for 40 people instead of 60. Does anyone know what happens if you have 60 guests? Does the RPRM not accomodate 60 people anymore?
  10. Thanks for the replys. I was hoping to get 5 days/4 night for around 1000 a person. I am not getting married until July 2011, so I feel my guests have a long time to book a cheap flight, then hopefully we can book the rooms at 350 per night. The planner from Destination Weddings said that 350 per night is definately possible. Also, we will probably have around 60 people at the wedding, and I am more concerned about families being able to afford it, so I am thinking to suggest that they stay at Riu Palace Mexico and just hang out at RPRM. Does any of this make sense?
  11. Does anyone know what a resonable price is for 5 days at RPRM? I want to make sure I am not putting my guests in a bad position by chosing a more expensive resort. I was thinking 1000 per person for 5 days including flight. Does that seem realistic for RPRM?
  12. Has anyone gotten married here? I do not see alot of infor about this hotel and weddings. I love the RPRM, but I do not know if it is affordable for my guests.
  13. Did they offer you a group rate? The "group rate" I was offered was about 10 less than what is on expedia. That's not a group rate to me, and I will prob be having about 60 guests. Please keep me posted if you find a better option and I will do the same!
  14. Hi I am considering having my wedding in RPRM in July 11, and was wondering what is considered a good price for guests for 5 days? Also, did anyone get a group rate discount, if so how much cheaper were the rooms?
  15. Is there a list of TA's on this site? I am not confident that destinationweddings.com will get my group the best deals.
  16. I am new to this forum and I have narrowed my choices down (for now) to these two resorts. I am planning to go down to Mexico and stay at each resort for 5 days to get a feel for them. My main concern is the price for my guests. RPRM seems to be more expensive than Gran Caribe. I am working with someone from Destination weddings.com and she said that group rates are available, so I am hoping the RPRM will be a little cheaper. Has anyone booked RPRM with the group rate or had any experience with booking throught Destination weddings.com? Also, what is usually a good price to expect guests to pay for 5 days?
