  1. We were first booked with Dreams Riviera Cancun, but cancelled as a result of the lack of privacy during weddings. (Just look through the forum. There is a ton of comments on this). We changed to Aventura Cove based on its positive reviews and personal references from friends and my travel agent. So my vote is .....Aventura Cove. Welcome to the forum.
  2. My friend is selling her Maggie Sottero Phillipa, ivory over light gold. It is a beautiful mermaid-shaped Maggie Sottero gown. She is 5'5 and wore 3" heels. Corset back, ivory with light gold underlay, bridal size 10. Sells for over $1200 new! Description from the MS website: One-piece, strapless fit and flare style featuring an embellished ribbon lace over satin. The lace is adorned with seed beads, sequins, and bugle beads. This sophisticated style is elegantly finished with a sweep train. Alterations: She had taken in the hips but NO material was cut. She has since released the seam so the dress is in its original measurements. Professional drycleaned. The measurements I list are from the website: BUST: 37.5 WAIST: 29.5 I cannot figure out how to attach pics. PM for pictures.
  3. Hi all, I cannot decide between the Phillipa (ivory over gold) and the Karena Royale (all white). I purchased both (whichever one I don't use, will be sold). I want to know your thoughts. I will post pics as soon as I can -- but for now ....I am a medium dark-skin black female. I am getting married in Riviera Maya in May. (It will be hot)/ So, which dress?

Hi ladies/gents, I am disappointed that I am not getting married here. It was our first choice. I just wanted to let you know that my fiance and I did let Ana know why we opted to changed. Surprisingly, she was surprised! It was as if she had no idea that privacy was an issue -- or at least, that is how she sounded with us. I suggested that she look at the online reviews. Maybe other DRC brides can let her know or direct her to some specific online reviews. Just a suggestion. Well I, too, remain optimistic for all the DRC brides. No doubt, the place is beautiful. We wish you the best.

It was a small wedding (appx. 10-15 people), but they were right on top of the guests lounging in the sun. there was an older man sitting right next to the wedding in a speed-o…just too much. the best part was when the group of drunk 40-somethings walked by (mid-ceremony) in nothing buy their bikinis, frozen drinks in hand and started to woo hoo. it’s just not my thing and that pretty much put the nail in the coffin regarding my wedding at drc. I cannot begin to tell you how upset I was over all of this. I remember when I first found the resort…I was so excited, it looked so perfect online. one thing…i’ve read that there is a more private place to have the ceremony, but I did not see that on the beach. The beach itself is rather small and very packed. Note…the ceremony area is just off the palapa rows next to the kids swing set/slide area. in the end, we didn’t even meet with ana…{redacted}.... we ended up going down to dreams tulum (we had visited once before) and met with aurora who gave us a tour. the beach site is great because it’s away from the crowd…there are so many options for the reception…ooh, and there is a beautiful chapel that looks like rustic mexico (I don’t think it even needs decoration inside). dreams tulum felt more fun and lively than drc (I’m not sure how to describe it...drc was just blah) and the beach is larger. while beautiful, the resort and it’s wedding areas seemed so cramped and overcrowded…it wasn’t even at full capacity. the guests I saw (during the wedding at drc) couldn’t have care less that someone was getting married…they just sat there, had phone conversations, ordered drinks…it was so sad. I’m sorry to go on…I wrestled with how much I should say. this has been a great thread and I’m sorry to leave it…the drc brides have been a great resource for info and ideas. thank you all! xo, tara We were booked at DRC in April 2010. But, based on the photographs and reviews regarding the lack of privacy at the gazebo we canceled and now torn between Aventura Cove Palace and Barcelo Maya Palace (deposits on both places). I just wanted to say thank you all for your posts. Keep them coming. The information generated here is invaluable.
  7. Hi, Any bride getting married at ACP or ASP Memorial Day weekend 2010?
  8. I am not having any bridesmaids either. I want the day to be about me and FH
  9. Hi, my fiance and I want a destination wedding anytime between May-June 2010. We don't know where to start. We are looking at Mayan Riviera, Negril and USVI. My friends tell me they want AI (yet I am not sure they know how much that will be). I want a beautiful beach and pool for guests. But, I don't want to get married on the beach. I really do not want sand on my dress, which is why I Negril (the Cliffs) was appealing. Anyway, most will be traveling from the east coast. Any suggestions?
  10. Hi, my fiance and I were just engaged on Oct. 16. We are planning a destination wedding for May/June 2010. We are looking at Jamaica (Negril Escape, Coyaba, or Moon Dance Cliffs) or cancun, mexico (no idea of place). We are excited and looking forward to getting and reading as much advice as possible.
