  1. I've been trying to think of something clever too, but coming up empty handed!

Wow...I have waaaaayyyy too much time on my hands...well actually I'm not a huge fan of my job these days so I'm pouring all my free time into wedding planning projects Lily- Thank you so much for posting this!!! Keep 'em coming! I was just about to PM you. I have been trying to get myself organized and pull together some templates from other threads, but have been slacking. This is wonderful to see what other brides are doing. It motivates me to start all my DIY projects this week!
  3. Help! My mother in law just went on a site visit to DRC this past week that she booked behind my back (another long story!). And she is claiming that it was "freezing" there and that it is far too cold that time of year to have an outdoor wedding. I am getting married January 15th, 2011, and she is telling my FI for us to change the wedding because our guests will be miserable. I have already sent out STD's and some of our guests have booked air. I have been to Mexico in February several times and never thought it was cold, but a little windy at night. I was planning on handing out Pashminias anyways. Does anyone think that mid January it will be too cold to get married on the beach and have an evening reception on the pool deck? Did anyone have any complaints when they got married on the pool deck that it was too cold or too windy? Or has anyone gone to Riviera Maya in January?? I have been trying to google the temperatures and it is coming up 83 high, 63 low and that doesn't seem too cold. I need advice!
  4. Thanks for sharing. I normally get email alerts from them, but not today!
  5. UPDATE* I just got off the phone with my MIL's TA, who just called me and sent me into a panic telling me the resort has NO record of my wedding being reserved at the hotel for our date. I started freaking out and emailed my WC. Turns out my MIL's TA screwed up and booked them at Dreams Cancun for their trip, and not at my resort (Dreams Riviera Cancun) so it doesn't look like they will be staying at our resort after all unless her TA can switch things last minute and rebook them during spring break. Of course, this happens after I got over being upset with the help of other brides on here and sent the MIL a list of questions to ask the WC for me lol. Life is funny like that isn't it?
  6. Carina- For saying you planned most of your wedding only a few short days before, you hit a home run. It looks amazing! I have been anxiously awaiting a review from a DRC bride. I would love to see cocktail hour, and reception photos also and any insight into the menu you chose! I have been struggling with what package and menu and location to finalize!!
  7. Photography At DRC- Ana sent me prices for photo packages 1-5. Does anyone know what each package actually includes for the price? And what photographer that includes? Just Adventure Photography?
  8. Has another else noticed the huge difference b/w the pictures Ana sent for Stephanie and Raoul's wedding and Nelli Ivica in the background of their beach shots? Does anyone know if this would have to do with the time of day they got married? I want the beautiful blue skies for my wedding, and am getting closer to sunset-- and am worried about the sky not being as nice of a setting. Thoughts? Stephanie & Raoul Nelli & Ivica
  9. Thanks everyone for the great advice. It definitely has helped me cool down to hear different sides. I am going to try to put together a "to do" list for her to check out, and just ask her not to share too much about her trip/experience. I am trying to be positive about it. I will let you know how it turns out in a few weeks once she comes back from the trip.

  12. I recently sent out my STD for our wedding 1/15/11 at DRC in Riviera Maya. It took me 6+ months to pick that resort, and among other reasons-- one of the main reasons I chose this resort is that it is new and NONE of my guests have been there or to Riviera Maya. I encountered some resistance from the MIL for selecting a pricey hotel, but have heard great feedback since the STD's went out and that everyone is please with the site selection. So much in fact, that I just found out last night that my FI's parents just booked a seperate trip with her friends (also invited to our wedding) for next month. I didn't have the $, or time to do my own site visit, but spent many long hours on this forum and talking with my TA before settling on DRC and I am thrilled with my decision. MY FI thinks I am being a spoiled brat because I don't want anyone to go visit there before me. I am also concerned MIL will try to highjack the planning and put her own opinions on food, location, etc that I have already decided on. Or worse yet, disapprove of my hotel selection and force me to change it after I've already put down deposits, and planned a lot of the wedding. Am I being a bridezilla because i think since I am paying for it, I want to be in control? I picked DW b/c I didn't want the added input from everyone else locally. Or should I be flattered that they think I picked a great resort that they can't wait till the wedding to visit there? I am really upset about this and don't know if I should be. Please give constructive feedback!!! Has this happened to anyone else?
  13. We were thinking of getting portable DVD players and the movie The Hangover for the best man/groomsmen. We thought it would be something fun for them to watch on the plane or on the beach while laying out and good for a destination wedding. Thoughts?
  14. Reception Location Survey- Where are you having your dinner? Pool Deck or Pool Terrace?? The pictures on page 51/52 confuse me. I can't tell the difference in location or attributes from the photos! Help!
  15. Is anyone out there having a horrendous time getting rates from Travel Agents and hotels for 2011? How is anyone planning their 2011 destination wedding without knowing the cost for their guests? We are getting married in January of 2011, and after 6 months of planning we had decided to go with Dreams Riviera Cancun. Our travel agent told us she had secured us group rates at 183pp/pn based on double occupancy. I ordered STD, and now that I have her contact info on the STD, and told our guests to contact her to make travel arrangements. She is saying that she had given us an approximate estimate of cost, and she won't know how much Dreams will be until the summer. I feel like it was a bait and switch. Now I'm afraid the rates will go up and my guests won't be able to afford it. Can someone advise me?!?! I am very upset. Anyone else have similar situations happen to them?
  16. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ls-pics-39572/ this is the thread. sorry
  17. I think you did an awesome job!! We all have hit major bumps in the road during planning. It's refreshing to know-- I'm not the only one. Did you create your welcome cards/map from a template here? It looks awesome! If you could email me or post what you used I would really appreciate it. I'm getting stuck on mine. Thanks!

From what I gather, these prices are the costs above and beyond the first 20 guests attending the wedding when you have one of the Dreams of Love or the Dreams Ultimate pkg. If you do the basic package then the dinner would be the price for each guest. Depending on which services/elements you want for your wedding, the basic package with the add on's could be less expensive but ask Ana to price it out for you. Also, you should be able to change your package choice before the wedding. Just waiting to hear from Ana about how much notice they will need to accommodate this. Does anyone know what the Special and Platinum menu include? What are your options for appetizers or entrees? I am waiting for a response from Ana still.

I will try to figure out how to post pictures for the resort. It is beautiful and very clean and modern
