I hate to pay the 500 extra just to use one from outside. Also, my girls are wearing blue sapphire short dresses and I'm having a hard time deciding on the guys. My DH wants them to wear linen pants. Any thoughts? I am not sure about AS, but at my resort, I chose to do the "free package" and just order everything a la carte. There wasn't a package where I LOVED every part of it. And since I am flying in my photographer, it seemed like a waste of money to pay for that in a package. What is the style of your wedding? I wanted mine to NOT be "beachy." I know that's weird to say, but I wanted it to be a little more formal. I LOVE linen pants, but it did not fit the style of my wedding. So FI's GM are wearing gray suits (yes, they will hate me after they sweat their butts off). What about white linen pants??

Our travel agent, The Wedding holiday, was super nice and got us a private cocktail reception (not at our expense) so that was a lovely surprise when we met with the wedding coordinators today. I will keep you updated as to how everything goes...I am in my room as I have had a little too much to drin'k!! lol it is my bedtime. We had our welcome dinner yesterday. It was a set menu, which we could not change, but it was delicious and everyone loved it! THey spelle dmy last name wrong on the menu cards that were set out at each place setting, so they brought in a harpest to make up for it. They are wonderufl and fixing mistakes and compensating you. We had a cesear salad, potato soup, and choice between chicken or beef, and cheese cake for dessert. Everything was soooo good, except for the cheese cake, but we just went and got different desserts from the buffet. That is where we are having our reception if the rain stays away. They don't provide additional lighting unless you pay for it. I have heard they put tea lights out as well, but my online wedding coordinator told me they cost money, so we brought our own anyway. We are paying for tiki torches to provide additional lighting. I think the storm is supposed to be in the states by Thursday! You should be fine! Good thoughts coming your way girl!!!!

  7. I ended up switching from DW.com. THe lady seemed helpful at first, but in the end, she seemed to be "guiding me" to resorts I had no interest in. Then she became very quick to respond to my emails and forgot everything we had discussed. I ended up switching to Wendy Hicks with Wright Travel (BDW TA as well). She has been SOSOSOSOSO fabulous! Seriously a lifesaver!

Bridal bouquet: Orange & Pink lilies & roses - $50 additional (b/c size was 16" diameter) Bridesmaids Bouquets - $50 for each - yellow, purple, orange & pink lilies and daises (they added tons of yellow roses too which were pretty) Centerpieces - $50 each Inspiration Picture given was: Aisle decor - Tall glass vases of Gladiolas - $43 each - moved from canopy to in front of the DJ table Groom boutonniere - $25 - option was shown to us from Lomas in their binder at our pre wedding meeting. Altho I was already aware of it, and didn't think it would be a big deal, we REALLY missed having a balcony. Appart from that, the service was excellent, and the hotel itself was mind-blowing...location was prime and the pools and beach/pool service was second to non! I've not done this to upset anyone, just to give my view...I always appreciated everyone opinions in my planning, and le blanc reviews were hard to come by on here...if i'm being honest, I don't think I'd have changed hotels even if I'd read a review like this, as the reason we chose mexico was because of le blanc, but if i was to return, i'd go back to moon palace, or if i wanted to spend a wee bit more, go to the royal. Thanks so much for sharing this info! Obviously, with less than 50 days til my wedding at Le Blanc, I cannot and will not switch resorts. But this is good to know. Luckily, we are staying in the Governor's suite on the top floor with a balcony. The balcony was definitely an issue for me, so hopefully my guests will not to be too mad about a small balcony! ha I guess we never know what to expect with these destination weddings. Also, everyone has their "must haves" in a resort and things that are important to them. We have 50 guests coming to Le Blanc, so I am sure some people will be completely satisfied and some people will be let down. I guess that's just how it is when you are trying to please that many people. Hopefully, when it is all said and done, my guests will be happy they got to see us get married at a gorgeous resort, be treated like royalty, eat great food, drink tasty drinks, and have the time of their lives!! I am just praying that the little things will not have too much of an impact on them. I am nervous about the hotel living up to my expectations. I have researched these hotels sooooooo much, so I am expecting to be let down a little. There is no way a resort can live up to ALL of our expectations. But I will say this: the wedding planners there have been a DREAM to work with. Diana emails me every single day and answers all of my questions. She goes out of her way to provide impeccable service. SHe has even negotiated lower prices for things, booked outside events for me, etc etc etc etc. So, to a bride, this has been priceless. Let's just hope my guests feel the same way about the service and the beauty of Le Blanc!!
  13. How is everyone doing on their "to do's?" I got my invitations mailed!!! YAY!! I will post pictures soon. They turned out great, but they were SUCH a labor of love. Hours and hours and hours and hours of DIY.

We sent our STD's out on Monday and we've officially got the buzz going for our wedding. I'm amazed at how many family members have been so critical. Mature adults (or so I thought) have made every comment ranging from "Those rooms are too small' to "Why isn't flight included in the rate" to "Kinda selfish to make everyone fly just to see you marry." I know I shouldn't be so sensitive, and I'm usually not, and I know from reading all the earlier posts that many of you ladies were met with similar negativity. But I'm trying to be a gracious and polite bride and instead I feel like telling people to Shut the F**K up and just stay home if they feel burdened. I'm so tired of responding to people, "Well I'm sorry but just know that we are NOT offended if you cannot make it and we totally understand." I feel like people don't realize that this is an optional attendance and no gun is being placed to their head for them to fly to beautiful Mexico to attend our wedding. Anywho, I know I should suck it up and drive on......but I'm just sick of all the complaining and commentary and know that there are a few more to come. I had to vent because I feel like you chicks are the only ones who get it. I'm thankful for this space to do that from time to time......:-) Oh gosh girl, I cried and cried and CRIED and am still getting upset about negativity surrounding my wedding. I would say 90% of everyone going is extremely excited, but the other 10% (which happesn to be a few of my bridesmaids) have made this process a living hell! At first it was them being angry that I chose such an expensive trip...and NOW they have booked their trips...but are not coming for the whole wedding weekend so they can EXTEND their vacation! Can you believe that? Missing 2 nights of wedding events so they can stay Friday or Saturday through Friday. Instead of Thursday though Wednesday. So my advice to you is this: you are going to go through SEVERAL stages of wedding planning. Throughout the process you are going to have sooo many highs and lows. Try to take everything with a grain of salt and not to take anything too personally. You may have a super productive day where everything goes perfectly well, then you may have a day where 3 people have called and said they are not going and the resort pissed you off. It's just the nature of a destination wedding. But in the end, it will be worth it! Like everyone else has said: the people that will be there will have a blast you guys! You will have soooo many memories with those that attend and most importantly, you and your FI will be getting married!!!! Rain, shine, oil, hurricanes, bitchy friends, best friends, etc...you will be husband and wife! I know it's hard but try not to get too upset. Yes, it is SO SO SO SO frustrating, but focus on the people that are so excited about coming. It really will make you smile thinking about the fact that you have x number of people happy about coming to your wedding. Hang in there!! Quote: Originally Posted by KittenHeart OH just know that this has happen to us all! The number of attendees to this celebration and union doesn't matter at all. On your wedding day, I promise you, you won't be thinking about who wasn't there, or who thought you should have done it differently or who didn't approve of blah blah blah... I promise you that the feeling you will have on your wedding day is solely focused on your then husband and this blissful floating feeling. Wendy knows! I can tell she felt the same way It's an unbelieve experience... ahhhh I'm so jealous mine is over! My response was a little less PC, to anyone who commented, just told them, "it's my wedding and our decision was this, if you can't make it, we totally understand." I think us past brides all mentioned how over emotion we were during our planning stages, it's natural Sorry for going off, I just don't want you to stress or worry, those complainers won't be hatin' life when they are floating in the pool with a margarita now will they? Amy, you are exactly right!! I am just trying to remember what you girls have told us!!! I know it will be worth it and the drama will seem so ridiculous after it is all said and done! Hey! and less people to feed too! Michelle hahah you are SO right! That was the main reaon we chose to do a destination wedding...we did not want to be meeting people at our wedding. We wanted an intimate group that we could spend the weekend with! Right now I'd be doing the big staple stuff, avoid details until later. I would absolutely start looking for your dress, if you get a dress that has to be made it takes 8 months and you want time for alterations etc. It's a big decision and you don't want to be rushed. Then I would start looking into flowers, decide what you want to do, resort flowers, real touch etc. If you want anything custom made do that early too. Sometimes it can take awhile. Also deciding the theme and colors of your wedding now is a good idea so everything looks coordinated etc. Congrats and welcome Natalie!! Personally, I did the free wedding which came with some basics and I added on and totally customized my wedding since the packages (silver & gold) came with stuff I didn't need or want, so it just depends on your needs. If you are bringing your photographer then obviously you don't need a package with one. Good luck! I am doing the same thing at my resort: choosing the free wedding and adding on what I want. My color scheme did not match any of the wedding packages and since I am bringing a photographer, I did not need the photography package. Wow. I am at a loss for words. But I guess we will never know people's real reasons for acting like this. In her mind, she probably does think she is broke and sees nothing wrong with her behavior. My friend told me this about my destination wedding (yes, it made me mad and so frustrated, but she really is right): "You cannot justify the cost, location, etc to anyone. You are the only one that completely understands what you are wanting for your wedding. If someone does not want to attend, it is not fair for you to justify why they can or cannot afford your wedding. Bottom line, they are not coming and that's the end of it. Just be happy for the people that are coming!" Like I said, this comment made me so angry, but it also did give me a little piece of mind to stop thinking of all these reasons why someone is choosing not to come. It really did help my anxiety! haha So, yes, this girl sounds RIDICULOUS but don't worry about her. You are definitely being the bigger person in this situation.

Maybe you can check out the clearance section at a really nice jewelry store in your area. Sometimes they have really nice options. My TA called FI yesterday and told him that the hotel (Azul Beach) is sold out the week of our wedding. I still have atleast 15 guests who have not booked. 2 of them are my aunt and cousin (the only extended family I have coming). I am so angry at them, the resort for not alerting my TA when the hotel was close to capacity and my TA for not finding out it was filling up as she promised she would. I was fighting back tears at work yesterday (right before a meeting - super) b/c I am so emotional over my family - majority isn't coming and the ones i thought i could count on couldn't put a $100 deposit down. I just feel so let down by family/hotel/TA. Long story short my FI completely lost it on TA (who has been on vacation/out of country twice since signing contract) which he brought up and questioned if the hotel told her but she was out of town. She supposedly has been in talks with the owner of the hotel to see if we can get 3 rooms...no clue as to where they are pulling them from or if they can even get them. I also just wrote a very "stern" email to my WC who hasn't responded to an email from me in over 2 1/2 weeks letting her know how disappointed I am. I don't want to be a crazy bride but I just feel that we should have known the hotel was filling up if they promised they would tell us! Grrr...ok sorry to start the day off on a sour note. 20. I bought their shoes, flip flops for after the ceremony, jewelry for the ceremony, going to pay to get their makeup done and going to make them shirts when I come up with a good idea for them. I feel like I should do more, but don't have any really good ideas yet. Check out The Knot Shop. They usually have good sales. Tiffany jewelry sounds great but expensive. Maybe you can check out the clearance section at a really nice jewelry store in your area. Sometimes they have really nice options. Great idea about the chairs!! I think it will work!!! Also, LOVE your bridesmaids gifts!!! Quote: Originally Posted by bigboponthebeach Hey Lindz! I pm'ed you my email addy. Sorry, I've been MIA. Thank you soooooo much in advance!!! It always comes on the radio or ipod when we are together and we always see weird references together. WAAAAAA (said like snookie from jersey shore) Quote: Originally Posted by amybermuda Meghan - The SAME thing happened to me at my wedding. Is your TA working with a Tour Operator? Let me tell you - the Karisma resorts reservation systems are STUPID AS F***!!! They do not know how many rooms are taken. They sell blocks to Tour Operators and keep some for their own reservations so while it looks like they are fully booked, there are rooms empty. My Step Mother who speaks Spanish fluently had an hour conversation with a representative of the resort's owners (they own Karisma & Desire - 7 resorts total) and told them how stupid this whole situation was. I even found a bride on this Forum that released 10 rooms at Azul beach that week (moved to AS b/c of the resort being too small) and they STILL told me they were in an over sold position and I could not have those 4 rooms. We got to the hotel and it was EMPTY!!! Ok, not empty - but maybe 70% capacity. I don't know what to tell you but I can tell you what I did and you can try this stuff. 1st of all - I called all of the other Tour Operators - FunJet, Travel Impressions, and the hotel reservations directly. Your TA might have other ones she can call too. They were showing all sold out. Even the Villa was booked. NO ONE was in the Villa the week we were there! 2nd - The hotel was booked the Friday & Saturday nights. So, all of my guests who booked too late (4 rooms of guests) - got split reservations. For example, they booked Azul Beach Monday to Friday, Azul Sensatori Friday - Sunday, and Azul Beach Sunday - Monday. I know it seems ridiculous but I wanted them with us as much as possible. 3rd - we got to the hotel and after meeting with the concierge, front desk, and the American Express/Travel Impressions representative, they were able to confirm the rooms were available for the guests to stay at AB. Then they had to transfer the reservations. This was all very touch and go. They have to do a lot of phone calls and dumb crap, but it got done in the end. I know that is not ideal, but in the end it all worked out. I am sure it will for you too. If you want me to call you to talk more about what happened and what we did, PM me your phone number. I feel for you babe! Yes, listen to AmyB!! She was able to get it all worked out. Do not give up yet!!!! It's just a little stressful situation to deal with for the time being, but it will come together. We are here for you!

Ryan is planning everything except the actual wedding. We are such foodies, so he is getting us reservations at all these fab restaurants. The wedding will be Friday. We will go out to dinner, have the limo (or pink cadi) pick us up, and take us to the wedding chapel. hahaha Then we will go out afterwards. My brother and his gf are going, and maybe 1 other couple. I am still debating on which "theme" I want to do, but it is going to be HYSTERICAL!!! Dueling Elvis's, Blue Hawaii, Pink Cadillac, etc are all SO funny. I really cannot wait!!!

Come all you potential Austinites, move here! LOL I'm so jealous of the larger cities (like Dallas/FW, Chicago, Jersey/NYC brides) and their BDW meetups! So far there's only one other Austin bride on here that I know of. I'm on a mission to recruit more! I LOVE Lake Travis!!! And Austin!!! We spent two hours on the phone the other night and she has revived my enthusiam about the wedding and the AS. My previous TA was gracious enough to send a "best wishes to you" email to us, which was kind, yet akward. Anywho, we are moving along and I've got an alchemy out on etsy for our STD's. I am actually feeling behind the curve ball, because we officially have less than 12 months left, but it is what it is........ Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say hello and wish you all a fantastic weekend!!! xoxoxo That's such great news!!! Hiring my TA Wendy Hicks was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Such a relief to have someone so helpful. Seriously girls, if anyone has a TA that is more of a stress for you rather than a resource, you should look into finding someone more helpful! AS is so not willing to budge when it comes to money, I'm not really all that surprised. Please keep me posted on your head way them and I'll do the same! My thought exactly. I'm booking them for the ceremony and will totally bribe to have them moved. Thanks for the advice! I think these resorts rent those chairs from an outside company. Maybe they own the chairs for the wedding, but have to order more for the reception? Who knows! How much are they charging you for the chairs? Maybe you can try to talk them down on the price if they will not move them for you. I think I am renting my silver chiavari chairs for $5 per chair. Surely they can help you on the price. $1500 is ridiculous!!!!!
