  1. Thanks staceyg! Your advice was super helpful!! I am going to start looking into other resorts and go from there!! Thanks again!
  2. My FI and I are having a hard time narrowing down our favourite resorts in Cuba. At first we were only considering resorts that have the free wedding package (i.e., Melia resorts) ... to cut down on a bit of the cost. Is the free wedding package all that it is cracked up to be?? We still want extras, such as a beach reception and stuff like that so we realize we will have to pay for that above and beyond the wedding package fee. Should we be limiting ourselves or could we be missing out on some really great resorts as a result?? Such as, for example, the Iberostar Laguna Azul. Any opinions/suggestions are much appreciated. Sincerely, One very overwhelmed bride-to-be
  3. My fiance and I are also considering the ILA. It looks so luxurious!! Any recent info on this resort?? Any news on how it is coming along?? Has anyone been there yet
  4. We are planning on going for two weeks as well. I agree with the others ... the first week is going to be so busy with the days and excitement leading up to the wedding and you will be sharing your time with all of your family and friends. It will be nice to have a week with your new husband to relax and enjoy ... just the two of you.
  5. Thanks everyone! We are still trying to decide and I have been in touch with a new TA .. hopefully we can get the resort figured out .. one that will best meet our needs. Thanks for the input about the MCSM!!
  6. Thanks everyone! It sounds like bringing a photographer is the way to go ... since the pictures are SOOO important!! I am just starting to shop around now. I was in touch with one that had a great rate but unfortunately she is already booked for the whole month of July. I would love to share a photographer with someone but I think I am about the only person getting married in July in Cuba.
  7. Thanks so much! That definitely helps ... kind of gives me an idea that it is possible as well as the price range that I could be looking at should I chose that route. Let me know how it turns out! I think a beach reception sounds so romantic ... and perfect for a destination wedding.
  8. Wow! Congrats!! That's a great price! My wedding isn't until July but we don't have anything booked yet. I am wondering how long I should wait before booking it
  9. I am frantically trying to plan and get things organized for my wedding ... even though it isn't until July BUT I realize that things, like photographers, book up fast. How do I find a photographer OR is ok to go with the photographer at the resort, which at this time is more than likely going to be the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. HELP!!
  10. I am trying to organize my thoughts and get some ideas on how to plan out our special day. One idea I had in mind was to have the reception on the beach in the evening with torches and candles. Has anyone ever done that in Cuba?? If so, is there an extra cost involved in taking the meal outdoors instead of booking it in one of the specialty restaurants?? Or are there other ideas that I could do for my wedding??
  11. Thanks so much for the info!! We are kind of in limbo between a few places and I think we have settled on the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. It sounds really nice from your review. It seems that most people are going to the Melia Las Dunas though and now I am wondering if we should consider that as well. So many decisions!!!!!
  12. I think the cigar idea would be a great wedding favour for the men that attend. I was thinking of having a Cuban musical trio perform during the meal at the reception. That might be something to consider.
  13. My fiancee and I have narrowed our choices down to a few for Cuba and we are leaning toward the Melia Cayo Santa Maria. We are getting married in early July 2010. Has anyone been?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
  14. Hi There! I just wanted to say that you are not alone! I have just begun planning my dw as well. We have also narrowed it down to Cuba but for early July. I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment and don't really know where to begin except to research resorts. Good luck to you and maybe we can keep in touch to share ideas!!
  15. Hi There, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rhea and my fiancee's name is Curtis. We are planning on getting married this July (2010) in Cuba but are just in the beginning process of trying to find a resort. I would love to hear any suggestions or ideas and am really glad I found this forum because the whole planning process is seeming a bit overwhelming since we have only just begun!
