We haven't made any final decisions on the photographer yet, but I'm looking at a destination photographer who is planning to be in Cuba at that time. Nope, nothing has changed as far as I know... as of a few weeks ago. If neither of you has been married before, all you need is your passports and birth certificates, along with a form the resort will get you to fill out. My fiance is divorced, so we had to get his divorce certificate translated to Spanish and legalized. Thankfully we have it all taken care of now, so we don't have to worry about it later on. I found it hard to get a hold of anyone at the Cuban Embassy in Montreal (which is the one we had to deal with). They kept calling and emailing in French which was pretty frustrating. We were told that the Notary in Cuba have made exceptions and preformed a weekend wedding, but there would be an additional cost of $150.00 CUC. So that might be an option for you if you want to keep your date the same. I can just imagine the stress you must be under right now, but I'm sure it will all work out for you. Best of luck!

That'd be great if you could send me the pics she has sent you. She tried to email me pics of the places for our reception but I didn't get them. She said their email has a very small capacity or something... I picture a computer that came off the ark for some reason, lol. Thanks!

We have our invitations sent out, and 28 people booked so far. I haven't been in contact with the resort myself much yet... it's mostly been through our TA so far. We are planning on having the ceremony in the gazebo as well... the pics of it look beautiful.

Hi Chantelle We haven't been there before, but we have our wedding booked at the Melia Varadero for April 2, 2010. I know just how you feel about how hard it is to chose! Although I haven't seen anyone else on here that has had their wedding there, the reviews I've read in other places, and from our TA are really good. I've heard that the first part of the beach is rocky as well... but apparently if you walk down the beach a few minutes its perfect. Good luck choosing!

I was looking at Josh Brown Josh Brown Photography - Montreal - Destination Wedding Photographer He shot my cousin's wedding in Punta Cana this past winter and did an absolutely amazing job. I contacted him a couple months ago and he was free for April 2010 at that time, not sure if he might have booked something since then tho - I am waiting to hear back from him.

Thanks guys... Ive looked into bringing my own as well, though the cost of bringing him without sharing with anyone else seems like waaay too much. Our wedding date is April 2, 2010.. Have to figure out how to put that in my lil profile on the left, lol

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with the Melia resort photographers... or any resort photographers in Cuba. I've noticed that a lot of people on here bring their own photographers with them, but we are hoping that we don't have to spend quite that much if possible. Does anyone know where I can find any work by resort photographers in the area.. just to get some ideas? Thanks!
