  2. Here's an etiquette question I'd like to hear all of your thoughts on: Who should pay for the $77 guest day pass if your guest is staying outside the resort? Do you think the guest should pay or that the bride and groom should? I'm torn!
  3. Hey everyone, Is anyone interested in splitting the cost on some lavendar table runners for their dinner tables? Also, I'm looking at purchasing alot of votive candle holders to fill with small pearl colored beads to put on the dinner table and around the wedding hut at night, for some 'mood lighting', if anyone is also interested in splitting the cost on that. My wedding is Feb.27th.
  4. Mrs. Rohwedder, Congratulations! I'm so happy everything worked out so well! You've gotten me excited for my wedding! It's a relief to hear that everything went great! What did you do/where did you go for your reception? We are trying to establish what to do afterwards. So far we are aiming for dinner then going to the wedding hut to do our toasts and first dances, then head off to the disco after that. Any input you have on that would be great!
  5. OMG...Jilligirl, that's sooo exciting! Can't wait to hear all about it! I'm about a month behind you! Woot, woot!

I don't know of any way you could possibly get around that or I haven't heard of any way, at least. Usually with all inclusives you have to wear a wrist band so if you don't have one and they see that, I'm not sure how that would go down. You even need to get a day pass for your photographer if you are not using the resorts. I will scope it out for you when I'm there for my wedding in Feb. All the best, Jennifer
  7. Hey Everyone! I can't believe my wedding is in 81 days!!!!!! Am I the next one, on this forum? Or is anyone in January? I'm beginning to get quite frustrated with Paola because I've emailed her all of my answers to the questions that we will discuss 'in our appointment' and she's emailed me all of those questions again! Based on what Kuyana said, I'm not even going to worry about getting her all that info, since she apparently won't have it when we get there anyways! As far as room upgrades go, we really want to have a special room during our stay since it's our wedding but it sucks they can't guarantee that especially since we are bringing 34 people to their resort! Throw me a bone! LOL. We are going during peak season which is why i was hoping to secure that ahead of time. Kuyana, did you guys get an upgrade? If not, how was your room? Sorry to be negative! I really needed to vent to someone who understands! Any feedback or suggestions would be welcome! Thanks! Jennifer
  8. No news yet, ladies! I'm not sure or chances are too good, but I guess we can look into it more once we get there. I was just hoping to have some info before hand. Take care!
  9. Thank you, thank you, thank you Kiuana for posting that very useful info! I'm taking notes on your do's and dont's! I'm glad it all worked out for you...you looked so pretty!!!!

  11. Hi All! I'm looking to find some information on any Casino's for my FIL and Father to go play at in either Cancun, Riviera Maya or Playa Del Carmen. We are staying in PDC but I'm pretty sure there's no gambling allowed in that town. I heard of Casino's in Cancun, but do you know if it's open to outside guests (as opposed to people who are staying at the Resort)? Any info would be greatly appreciated and help keep our two dad's entertained! Regards, Jennifer
  12. Hey Everyone! For anyone who has been to the resort or to PDC before...can you make any recommendations for nightclubs nearby? We are looking for some spots to have a girls night/boys night out as well as possibly for our wedding night!

For those of you waiting for a response from Paola, she is very slow in responding to emails but she has gotten everything in order just fine. Sounds like that is very typical as i'm sure she gets a ton of emails and coordinates weddings every day. Hopefully I will have great news and information to share with everyone in a few weeks. Congrats...you must be so excited! I can't wait to hear all about it! My date is 3.5 months away and I'm sure it will be here before I know it! I heard from a bride on here that she used the hair salon and was happy with the way it turned out. I'm a bit nervous about it too, as I don't know what to expect. What style are you going for? Please let us know how it turned out! Good luck!!!
  14. I got in touch with her...she emailed me right back saying it's been a nightmare since her computer went down. Thankfully we are still booked with Citalli for our wedding day without any confusion!

I just emailed it to you from [email protected]

I was just looking for her address to as my computer crashed but I hadn't heard back from her in ages to confirm my wedding date. I already paid my deposit so I'm getting nervous that she hasn't emailed back yet! I will try dropping her a line now.

I do not want my guests harrassed on vacation!! Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on this? In my opinion you are going to get that at any resort you go to in Mexico. I think if you are firm with them, you will be fine in not having them bother you. On the other hand I've talked to people who have gone to the timeshare meetings and ended up buying one and it actually sounds like a pretty good idea/deal which makes me wonder why we are always so hell bent on avoiding them! Lol. I haven't been to Sandos, however, so I really can't speak for that resort specifically. Hope that helps!
  18. I didn't realize there was a MAC Cosmetics in Playa and I work for MAC! Ha, ha! My friend who I work with had to cancel on me and she was going to do all my bridesmaids for me, so I can relax, but now I can take them there! Yipee! Did you book all your appointments? Have a GREAT wedding and I will look forward to hearing all about it! All the best!

We haven't decided yet because we still need to sit down and do the math with all other things considered. We actually haven't discussed this option of people going to the bar themselves, but if we can afford it, I'd like to do the price/person for the drinks (I guess!) Especially because we don't know how far the bar is from the pool, etc. I wonder if we can decide on that part when we get there? Once we have a chance to see it, that would help us make our decision. My computer with all my info from Paola is down right now, so I need to wait until I can get all that info together before I send her an email with all my questions. Has anyone else had a private pool reception or seen one there, that can offer input?

We have 40 ppl now, so it's an option now, if we want it!

If it's a Symbolic Ceremony, it's not legal so you don't have to worry about any of that 'being there 3 business days in advance" business. I'm assuming you would be making it legal at home, non? that's the nice thing about a symbolic ceremony!
  22. Thanks Jilligirl for looking into this for us! My PC died on me with all of my wedding info that I have saved on it, so I'm feeling a little lost! Thank goodness for this forum! The bonfire idea sounds amazing! I'd love to hear what she says about that too. We weren't going to have a private reception but we are now considering it so we can have our own space and time to do our speeches and dances, etc. Just weighing out our options between the poolside reception or renting out the disco. It all depends on what it looks like in there. I'm thinking the only thing about pool side is, what if it gets chilly or even worse...rains! I'm from Vancouver so I'm always considering the rain. I know when it DOES rain in Mexico it's often at night. So we'd hate to pay for that and not be able to use it. I know that's worse case scenario. We'll see! Thanks again! Jennifer
  23. Does anyone have any photo's of the Disco and what it looks like if you want to rent it out for the private event? I can't open attachments so if you could, please post it or email it to me at [email protected] Thanks in advance! :-)

Rather than them spending $$ coming for a long weekend to my wedding, it just made sense to make a weeks vacation out of it. For them it's ending up costing them the same as it would have for a long weekend in the city! Win! win! Plus I get to have the quality time with them I wouldn't have had had we planned it locally. Now that all being said... we gave everyone a heads up as to what our plans were last Christmas... my fiancé's family took some convincing, but in the end, if we had both sets of parents in it was enough for us. In the end, everyone got on board. My best advice is just to be prepared for people to promise a lot, but when it comes down to booking, to expect a lot of ''oops! I can't actually afford it afterall''. It's inevitable. Now..... finally! my MAIN reason for having a DW is we simply can not afford to spend $30k+ on a local wedding. As it is the DW is costing $10k after everything is said and done (dress, photographer, rings, trip, wedding costs etc...) So flip the coin over and put it this way: Should THEY all not feel bad for asking you to spend all that money on a local wedding just so they can come? go to the beach and have fun! Afterall... like all the girls have said, it's your day. Your last paragraph makes such a good point!!! I am feeling guilty too and it's my fiance's family that can't afford it (his immediate family) and he's the one that was the most adamant about having a DW! I even asked his sister and sister-in-law if they would be able to afford to come, before we finalized having a DW, and they said we should do whatever we want and they will make it happen. Well now they are the ones who either aren't coming or are barely making it (for a few days). But he is Filipino so it would be a HUGE wedding if we had it here (which is exactly why we are doing a DW!) so you're totally right...we would have to go in DEBT if we had it local! Funny enough my MIL has said that if we had it here she would have used the money for the trip, to give to us instead. Hmmm. Anyways, a DW does feel slightly selfish in the beginning but that's what your wedding should be...about YOU! And we have 40 people attending, so that's got to speak for something (and they can't wait to go!) Sigh. Good luck everyone!
