  1. Here's my secret. I use priceline also, but there is a sneaky way to get the exact hotel you want, really cheap. I do it all the time. For example I got a $600 per night suite in NYC for my sister's birthday for only $115. (On a saturday night too!) What you do is you search for only 5 star hotels, and only select the exact part of town you want to stay. The list of available rooms will come up. Then you do the name your own price thing. When you do that, you can't pick which hotel you will end up at, but it WILL be one from the list you just looked at. There may be quite a few, but because you chose only 5 star ratings, they are all going to be nice either way.Start with less than half of what they were asking for the room. It will do that thing where it says it has little chance of being accepted, but do it anyway. I have gotten rooms near Times Square for as little as $85 a night by doing that.(Again, they are always 5 star rooms.) Then as soon as you choose your room and pay, call the hotel directly to confirm that the reservation took. When I talk to the person at the hotel, I ask what type of room it is, and if they can upgrade it because it is a special occasion. They almost always do!

  2. I hope I haven't turned "Bridezilla," and I feel like I am driving my planner crazy, but I keep changing my mind about what I want. When I started this whole planning thing, I could care less what it looked like. As long as there was food, booze, and I had a bouquet I was cool. But as the date has gotten closer, I have changed locations, hired a planner, added soooo many decor elements, changed my color scheme like 10 times, changed bridesmaids dresses (just to eventually change 2 more times and arrive back at the original,) and keep adding suggestions every day. I hope this poor lady doesn't want to kill me! Is anyone else going through this? Please tell me I'm not the only one!

  3. I am also from the area! I was wondering if anyone is looking for a "gym buddy?" I know that no one is more motivated to lose weight than a bride to be, and I can never drag myself to the gym unless I have someone else to go with. I moved here from the Jersey shore area, and don't really have any friends close enough to go with me. I am already a member at Retro Fitness (only $20 for membership), so if any of you are too, and want a gym buddy, let me know!

  4. I'm sure everyone is telling you the same thing, but when you find "the one" you know it! I did a lot of pre-shopping prep work. I basically stalked EVERY designer's website, and found a bunch of dresses that I loved. When I finally went out to look, I didn't have to pick through. I was able look for only what I already knew I liked. I actually found my dress by mistake. I was shopping with my best friend (who is getting married the week before me.) We went to look for a dress for her. I was 6 months prego, so I wasn't even ready to try anything on. Just kinda seeing which shops carried the styles I liked, so I can go back and try on after the babers. At the 7th shop, I found THE DRESS! It looked pretty hot even at 6 months prego, so I HAD to get it! It was the one and only dress that I tried on. It will happen like that for you too. You will know that it's right as soon as you see it.

  5. I just wanted to say congrats, and that this forum really is great! It seems like everyone has reached out to help so many people that they don't even know. Such a shame that everyone as scattered so far across the country, because BDW would have one heck of a party if all these gals got together!

  6. I'm not really doing a "theme" so much as just being very consistent with decor. I want a rustic and natural look. (I was inspired by the pics posted on another thread...http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t38476) Everything will be decorated with natural elements. I have a bamboo chuppah with white draping and am planning on hanging strands of capiz shells from it too, and scattering capiz shells across the tops of the table runners. I also bought a bamboo aisle runner, bamboo fans, and woven palm clutch bags to contain the favors. The only other decor will be white rice paper lanterns and parasols. The girls' dresses are very light aqua blue. Almost white. The whole thing is very clean and earthy looking. That's about it!
