There must be some way around this? Thanks for your input! Hey Carrieo, You can hire an outside photog if you book a room for them for at least 1 night. This way, they are considered a guest and are welcome to take photos just like the rest of your guests would be. They used to just charge a fee for outside vendors, but have completely done away with that. This is the new way around that. If the photographer is local, this way could actually be less expensive, I think the fee used to be in the neighborhood of 400. Hope this helps!
  2. Ok, you got me, we aren't totally done. We have everything mapped out though. There's not alot we can do until things get closer and we know how many people will be coming. We did send our save the dates out last week. We just made them on vistaprint. Here's some pics... Front Back I have gone shopping for dresses a few times, and can't really find anything in the stores I love. I found one online that I love, and am paying for a local shop to get one in for a week so I can try it on. Here it is... I have decided that I'm bringing a local photographer with us. She's hired me to do makeup at some of her recent shoots, and I love her work. She used to just do just families, maternity, and babies, but she's trying to branch out. She's never done a destination wedding, but I really trust her. She'll be doing my boudoir photos too. Here's her website... Studio M Images LLC Photography Let me know if you would be interested in using her, since she'll be at the resort already. Let me know if you have anymore questions!
  3. Oh yeah, I've seen every thread relative to the Riu Palace or anywhere in the Riviera Maya. I'm totally addicted to this site! We thought we were going to have between 80-100 people at first (we actually did a little survey of friends and relatives before we commited to a DW), but people are starting to get a little grumpy about the cost and having to take off work, kids out of school, etc. So, who knows what our final count will be. It would be funny if it did end up being 100 people, the whole resort would be taken up with our wedding guests. We chose the gazebo after alot of debate. We originally wanted the beach (it just seemed silly to go all the way to Mexico and not get married on the beach), but ended up going with the gazebo because it seemed more private and less windy. How's your planning coming? I've got everything done already - thanks to these boards!
  4. You wouldn't want to use this on your face, but try amlactin for the shoulder and chest areas. It's a moisturizer formulated with 12% lactic acid, this will help to remove dead skin that may be inhibiting the skins ability to absorb moisture and will also kill fungus (if thats whats causing the dry patches - which it often times is). You can find it at any drug store. On your face, try using a light exfoliator before applying moisturizer. Hope this helps, I've advised lots of clients to do the same things and they've reported positive results.
  5. Hey Erin, I'm getting married at the same place on the 26th! Do you have a big group coming with you?
  6. I had difficulty finding something that was everything I wanted at first too. After alot of looking around online, I found a designer named Essesnse of Australia. They had a ton of dresses that were not too big, but had interesting embellishments. My price range was around 1000, and most of their dresses are right around there. They also have a line called Ella, which is much less expensive, and really cute. Here are the links... Ella Bridals Essense of Australia
  7. So, I've been looking online for dresses I love before going to the shops to try them on. I found a designer called Essense of Australia and they make the perfect dress for me. We only have one store in my area that carries the line, and they don't have this one available to try on. I had to pay $50 so they could get a loner for a week just so I could try it on. Has anyone seen this dress or tried it?
  8. Hey ladies, so I've been reading all the reviews on this site and trip advisor and I feel more confused than ever. We originally decided on the Riu Palace because I've stayed at one before, and knew it was really nice. It also seemed like their wedding package was pretty reasonable. Then I came across the Paradisus Riviera Cancun, and I loved their reception setup, but $90pp for dinner? At an all-inclusive? The Azul Sensatori looks nice, but the reviews are mixed. Part of the reason we chose to do the destination wedding thing at an AI is because we really wanted to keep the cost of the ceremony and reception down. After our preliminary inquiries, it seems like we may have over 100 people coming. Does anybody have any suggestions for a resort in the riviera maya that I haven't mentioned? Do any of the resorts offer significant discounts if you bring 100 people with you? Has anyone gotten married at or done a site visit at any of these 3 resorts? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi everyone!

I actually don't have a date or location yet, I just know I would love to be on the beach with all my friends and family for my big day! I'm having fun looking though, and I've already learned alot from this site. Thanks for all the helpful info. I feel like I've learned alot already!
