Where did you get the $378 per person for the Grand Velas? Did you use a travel agent for that? I found it SO much cheaper to get a quote directly from the hotel. I did a site visit at Grand Velas and Azul Sensaotri.... I can't say enough great things about the Grand Velas. Its the best resort I've ever stayed in.... It's amazing!!

I know exactly how you feel! I was in your boat last spring so I decided to take a trip to mexico to figure it out.... after awhile all the pictures look the same! I can only comment on two of the resorts but I think your lists looks really good. I went the end of June for a site visit and stayed at Grand Velas and Azul Sensatori (also stayed one night at Hacienda Tres Rios). I have to say that I was blown away by the Grand Velas.... it's the most amazing place I've ever stayed at. I felt like royalty there. I thought Azul Sensatori was nice but Grand Velas is in a class of its own. I even went back there a second time to show my fiances parents. It's more expensive than some of the others but if you deal directly with the hotel and don't go with a travel agent then the prices are a lot better (at least that was my experience, but I'm sure different TA are different). They have been awesome to work with and I love the wedding coordinator, she makes me feel like I'm the only bride. Anyways, send me a PM if you want to see pictures.

I love the idea of AI (as long as you pick a place that has good food and drinks).People pay up front for their vacation and know exactly what they are spending going into the trip instead of being worried about running up a tab at the pool bar one afternoon. Also, mexico is so laid back, you can just leave your room for a day with no money and not worry about a thing. The only thing is you have to pick one that's nice to make sure the food is good. On a site visit you can sample the food. I just went on a site visit at Azul Sensatori and the food was so good but not so much at Iberostar Quetal. I think Cieba del mar looks awesome. Just my opinion on AI. Good luck planning -
Hi, I just got back from a site visit at Azul Sensatori. I'll post a longer review later but I wanted to let everyone know that the resort is very beautiful and the food is SO good!! I didn't get to eat very much since I was there only one night but what I did have was amazing!! I also loved the spa... I did the water journey (which was only $45) and it was awesome... I think it would be great to do with your bridesmaids! One thing I wanted to let everyone know is that the beach as SO windy at night! During the day it was beautiful but at night I couldn't even have a conversation because I felt like I was being blown over. Maybe it was just a random night (the weather was really weird when I was there) but I just wanted to let you guys know. I loved the sky deck for the ceremony and the gazebo for the reception.... very pretty!! Zocalo resturant patio is also a perfect place for a reception. There wasn't much going on at night but I went to bed earlier because I was so exhausted so maybe it picked up later at night. All the staff was so sweet.... tipping a few dollars really made their nights. Overall, the resort is amazing! You guys are going to have a great wedding!!!

Hi, I'm planning on getting married next year in Playa and wanted a beach reception but the wedding coordinator said it's really windy on the beach and should probably rent a tent. I'm having appr. 100 people and wondering if anyone knew a rough price estimate. (I heard $1000 then someone else said $5000... yikes!!!). I asked the wedding coordinator to talk to her vendors but haven't heard back

Does anyone if Azul Sensatori uses the photographers listed on Lomas Travel (Caribe photo, Royale Photo, Claudia photo, Mexican wedding photo)? If so, did you like them? I used to be able to find this info on Karisma website but they changed their webpage and can no longer find it. Also, has anyone used the DJ that comes with Azul? On there webpage it says $1300 for 4 sets while lomas travel says $1500.

Hi! Does anyone know of a company that makes really cheap ( less than $2 each) boarding pass STD's? I'm inviting about 350 people and really can't spend over $2 each. I would love to make them myself but I'm not crafty at all and so busy with school. I saw one site that only charges $1.87 or something but I didn't really like them. All i really want to be included is the one boarding pass and an envelope. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi! I was just wondering the same thing about a photographer! If anyone has used the hotel's I'd really appreciate your input! Also, if you bring your own how many days do they have to stay at the hotel in order to bypass the $500 that they used to make you pay or do you still have to pay that? I really love Elizabeth Medina but she's already kinda expensive!! Also, has anyone used the DJ? Does anyone know who he is? I was thinking about using one from Cancun that I heard good things about but not sure if this is allowed. Thanks for any help!!

Hi! Can anyone that got married at Azul sensatori send me pictures of their reception if you had a private event. I would like to get a feel for decoration ideas! Thanks so much. [email protected]

Loanmoa- Hi, I also love the Grand Velas and will be doing a site visit there in June 2009. I was just wondering with the group rate do you have to pay in advance to get the group rate? It was just make me sick to put down enough rooms for 50 people and have some not show up. Also, I'm talking with my travel agent and she gave told me it was $341 per person/per night in May 2010.... I wonder if going with the hotel rate is cheaper than my travel agent. I'm also very concerned with the price.

Mysti, How were the prices for the Grand Velas wedding? I can't find anything on the internet about the price for a private reception and the wedding coordinator hasn't responded. I'm going to have 50-80 people and noticed that at Grand Velas in PV it cost appr $14,000 for ceremony and private reception for 50 ppl. That seemed crazy to me! Also, how were they about accomdating your guests at the resturants. I would like to have a welcome/reheresal dinner at one of the resturants but find that most have a max of 40.
-
Hey! I was wondering how good they are about accomidating over 40 ppl in the resturants? I would like to have a welcome/rehersal dinner and have everyone sitting in the same area of the resturant. I'm probably having 50-80 guest and wouldn't mind doing a set menu at one of the resturant but I just don't want to have to pay for everyone to eat another meal at an all-inclusive. I'm already planning on doing a private reception and really don't want to pay for another private function.

Playacar Palace (PDC) AI

Hey! I'm also thinking about having my wedding at PP but I would probably have between 70-100 guests and am very confused about the maximum number of people. I want to have a private reception inside and also have a private rehersal dinner. On the website it says that if you book more than 25 rooms with them then you get free private functions and I was wondering if this meant my reception and rehersal dinner? have you heard anything about this? -
Cozumel Palace AI
ccone replied to TammyWright's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Im wondering the same thing... And also, if I book 25 rooms with them then it says you get free private functions... does this mean my reception wll be free (I know extras will cost) but the basic dinner/drinks for 2 hours? This just seems way to good to be true... Does anyone know anything? -
Hey! I'm very interested in Cozumel Palace also but have found it really hard to find information. I'm not getting married until 2010 but have been looking everywhere and found Cozumel Palace to look so beautiful. One question I have is about the private functions. I know that if you book 25 rooms through them then it says that you get free private functions. Does that mean that reception and also a welcome for 100 people for dinner/drinks is free for 2 hours? It also says that you book 11-24 (or maybe its 19-24) rooms you get one free private function... this just seems too good to be true! Have you heard any information about this? Also, I want all of my guests to be able to attend welcome dinner/rehersal dinner but I'm not sure if the resturants can hold this many people... can I do a private dinner for them? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
