I used glue I got in the scrapbooking section of Target. I can't find it right now, but is was just paper glue appropriate for scrapbooking. If I put too much glue it could get wavy, but as long as I didn't put too much- it worked perfectly.

On the template, silde 2, 4, 5, & 6 say "delete outline before printing, cut from front." What exactly does this mean and why is it necessary? I didn't make the template, so I am not sure. I did not delete the outline. I used it so that I knew where to cut. I cut halfway on one side them flipped it over and cut the rest on the other side because the two sides didn't match up exactly. I am sure there is a way to re-set the templates, but I am not extremely computer savvy so I made do. Cutting this way worked and you wind up cutting off the parts that say "delete, etc."
  3. Hi, I was wondering if anyone did a Chichen Itza tour for a large group (there will probably be almost 30 people) and if so did you use a tour company? How did it work? Do you have any recommendations for tour companies that can accommodate that many people?
  4. I printed on both sides of the paper. I printed the cover on a thicker cardstock and then page 2 by itself on white cardstock and then pages 3 one one side of white cardstock and page 4 on the back, and then page 5 on one side and six on the back. Then I glued page 1 to the cover and cut the others out, ordered them and stapled them. (does that make sense?) The templates didn't match up exactly to print them front to back but I just cut them and made sure lines weren't showing and it all worked. Hope this helped.
  5. Well it all worked out in the end. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and support. I offered to pay half and she decided to borrow some money from a family member so she will be there. I am excited. I can't thank you enough for the help. It made a hard decision much easier.
  6. Hi Everyone. I was just wondering if anyone had a resort map that I could print out for my welcome books? I couldn't find one when I searched (but I am not so great at searching). We're going on 2 months- the stress is mounting.
  7. Thanks for all the advice. I have a lot to think about. I have given myself until next week to figure out what I am going to do. I think offering to pay half sounds like a reasonable idea so I can still feel like I made the effort to help her out and have her there, but not feel too guilty for having paid for everything. I can put the ball back in her court. If she still can't do it- then at least I tried and it wasn't meant to be.
  8. Hi, I have a situation. I have a close friend who just told me that she can't afford to come to my wedding. She has been telling me all along (for the year and a half I have been engaged) that she is coming, but finally told me she can't afford it (two months before the wedding). The question is- I can afford to pay for her to come- do I do it? We have not paid for anyone else- nor offered. We knew going into this that some people would not be able to afford to come to the wedding. I would feel guilty paying for her when we made everyone else pay for themselves. Also when she got married I was in grad school and I managed to pay for my bridesmaid dress, flights to her wedding, bridal shower, engagement party and gifts for every single one of those events (oh yeah and helped pay for the bridal shower) at a time when I did not have much money. I understand it is different for her she has a family to support now and they really are struggling. But she has also chosen to put herself in this position by have children young and not going back to work. I am so torn. It is hard to image my wedding without her, but do I spend $800 to have her there?

I have seen people use ribbon or make holes in the crease to tie them together. The staples worked just fine for me.
  10. I can't get a straight answer- so I thought I'd put it in here. We are having a legal ceremony in June and the only requirements I've been told we need are passports, birth certificates and the tourist card you get on the plane. I can't find out if we need our birth certificates translated or not or if there is anything else we need. Also has anyone heard from Cecilia? I have e-mailed her more than once over the last two months and haven't heard a word. I am getting nervous- my wedding is in 3 months and we haven't planned a thing with the resort.
  11. Here's what I did and what happened to me. We sent out Save the Dates 8 months prior to the wedding with the hotel and travel agent information on it so that people could begin booking whenever they wanted. Then we sent out formal invitations 5ish months prior to the wedding with a RSVP date of 3 months prior. We have passed the RSVP due date and are still waiting on about 20 people to respond. We didn't have anyone book more than 6 months in advance (even our parents). I can't imagine having to commit to coming 8-9 months in advance. Many people needed to find out if they can get off work or can afford it (and knowing a year in advance did not cause anyone I know to start saving). We sent Save the Dates and Invites to everyone we would have invited if we were having a wedding in the states (about 145 people) and so far we have 37 coming.
  12. I have to say- it doesn't matter how far in advance you give your guests notice, People will wait until the last minute to book and will still say that they don't have the money to come. I sent out my save the dates 8 months in advance with all of the booking information on it and people didn't start to book until recently (The wedding is in 3 months). I am still waiting on 30 RSVPs as well. Personally I would spread the word by mouth until you are sure of some more information and then send a Save the Date.
  13. Thanks for the support. the differences really are minor and I think some of the problem happened in shipping where stitching came loose and made it look different. They showed me the sample I tried on and there were some differences, but I didn't want to be a bridezilla so I just agreed that alterations could fix it (only problem is I don't plan on going there for alterations). I need to get some other things on the dress altered anyway so I will ask the tailor to work on the flowers as well. I think I was just freaking out a bit because I wasn't expecting it. I really appreciate the support and am trying to calm down and not let it get to me. Thanks everyone.

Then I messed around with "send to front" and "send to back" to make it go into the background. I don't know if that makes any sense. I really struggled with moving things around (I am also not very computer savvy). I hope I helped at least a little.
  15. I just had to post because I was so distressed today. I went to pick up my dress today from the bridal shop and it wasn't quite the same as the sample I had tried on. It has flowers on the strap that did not match the flowers on the sample and the threads holding them together (so you don't see the strap) had broken and the flowers looked really sparse. The ladies tried to tell me that it looked the same to them, but I was not convinced. They then said that alterations could fix it. And I guess that is what I will be doing (at a price I am sure- I probably shouldn't have taken it home with a guarantee that it will be fixed) . I just wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else. (it feels better not to be alone).

  18. My wedding is early June. I sent the Save the Dates in October, and the Invites in January and asked people to RSVP by March 1st. That gives me about 3 months to settle everything based on numbers. I found that most people really can't know for sure whether they can come too far in advance.

I've heard good things about Samuel Luna but his package is around $3800 than you have to pay the $300. Advice? We are going with Samuel Luna and I believe he has less expensive packages than that (depending what you want/how many hours you want). We do have to pay the fee also. I liked his portfolio best out of the photographers in our price range. We still have almost 5 months until the wedding, but I'll let you know how it goes.
  20. I know this was posted a while ago, but I love the little people images on the timeline and was wondering where you got them?
  21. I am thinking Color My World by Chicago. It was my parents first dance. What do you think? YouTube - Chicago - Colour my world
  22. Welcome and Congratulations. The Paradisus also has a resort in Mexico where I am getting married and it is slightly less expensive than the Costa Rica one.

  25. Congratulations and Welcome. That is probably the most common issue with planning a wedding for many miles away. Most people say just don't worry too much it will work out. But be sure that you get prices nailed down beforehand and hold on to any quotes.
