  1. Congrats and welcome! I am also getting married in Maui... in September 2009. This forum has been a great help already!
  2. I didn't want a veil either but I totally changed my mind when I tried one on in the bridal shop! It totally made me feel like the bride. I say go for it! As far as your FI goes, just nod your head and smile when he voices his veil opinion, then wear it anyway! I guarantee it will be the furthest thing from his mind on your wedding day.
  3. Jacilyn, you are my hero! PLEASE keep me updated on what you find. I had a feeling that David's Bridal might not be the place for this kind of thing. I really need support that will not fail! I HATE my D (and for part of the month DD) size... I would LOVE to be a large B or small C. It makes finding clothing and bras so very hard.
  4. Nope, we are not doing an AHR. For us, the whole point of getting married away was to keep it small and intimate. We have no desire to have an AHR. However, after the honeymoon, we will probably host a casual BBQ at our home for those who couldn't make it (grandparents, etc.) and show them pictures from the wedding.
  5. The garment I tried on was this: David's Bridal - Accessory 7643WHITE Smooth Seamless Long line Bra. And they showed me this, which I was thinking about getting if I end up buying a chiffon dress: David's Bridal - Accessory 1123WHITE Strapless Bra with full length slip. If anyone has other thoughts/suggestions, I'd love to head them. I am a D cup, and I need all the support I can get!
  6. I know some similar threads are out there, but I had a more specific question. Can anyone tell me the difference between a bra/slip undergarment from David's Bridal (tried one on and it was amazing, especially since I am large-chested) and the Spanx than everyone talks about? They seem to be about the same price, but are the Spanx as good for a large-chested woman as the David's Bridal type garment? I am pretty trim below the chest, so I'm not too worried about "flab control," however, I want something extremely supportive up top, but still comfortable. Any help would be appreciated!
  7. Jenn, thank you for the great review! I am sorry about the troubles you had, and the rain, too, but I can see even from the non-pro photos that you got a wonderful sunset in return and you will have those lovely photos to look at forever... I am also getting married at the SeaWatch. It looks like you were married on the Lower Wedding Knoll? How did you like the views from this location? Also, I am really close to hiring Kinga as my photographer, but I am a little hesitent because there aren't as many reviews out there about her. I like the work on her site, and you seemed to really like it too, so I am starting to lean more toward her. Her prices seem so reasonable and the photos look so nice that I am wondering if it's too good to be true!

I did a bouquet with lilies and plumeria and it was the perfect size. So I think it depends what's in with it. Oh, thanks for the info! They looked much larger to me, but it must be an optical illusion from the orchids. It's very beautiful and real looking.
  9. The OP's bouquet looks stunning. I have a question: I really want a plumeria bouquet and have thought about ordering artifical since I've been told plumeria don't stand up too well in the heat after being cut. In your posted photo, the plumeria look quite large, (i.e., not the same size as real plumeria). Did you order them this size on purpose, and do you know if the designer also makes plumeria bouquets in life size? Again, your bouquet is stunning!
  10. I can't wait to change my last name! I'll be 32 when I get married, so you'd think I would be attached to my last name, but nope. I am just looking forward to not having to spell my last name every single time I give it to someone (FI's last name is much simpler than mine!).
  11. I am having this same dilemma. Two of my single girlfriends have offhandly mentioned bringing a "friend" with them to the wedding. These would be people I don't even know, and our wedding will be quite small and intimate. I didn't say anything when they mentioned it b/c 1) they weren't asking me, they just mentioned it outloud and 2) I don't want to get them all upset before the invites even go out. They don't know that I am only inviting them and not "and guest" to the wedding. I hope they don't get pissed when they see the invite. Those guests who are in serious longterm relationships are getting "and guest" on their invite, but since the wedding is so small, I don't want people bringing random dates, is that wrong? Do you think I should mention it to them ahead of time or wait until they ask me? I also will feel mean if they push the issue and I tell them the guest can't come to the wedding. I honestly don't understand the mentality. I would NEVER assume I would be able to bring a random date, especially just a girlfriend, to an intimate wedding.
  12. Just wanted to say hello... I learned about this website from some future brides on Cruise Critic and it's great! My fi and I got engaged in November and we're planning a September 09 wedding on Maui. If anyone has any good Hawaii wedding tips, let me know!
