My dress saga continues... I love this dress but am wondering if it's too "glitsy" for the beach?? Opinions?

I just returned from my seamstress to have initial measurements taken before I order my dress.... It is Demetrios Style 944- Halter top all lace mermaid style. She told me to rethink the dress becuase she's had several brides with halter tops uncomfortable after wearing the dress for several hours due to the "weight" pulling on the back of your neck. I never thought of this and now am re-thinking the dress, although I love it. My dress isn't that heavy (I tried on many much heavier) but we are having two "weddings" so I will wear it alot and am worried it's going to be uncomfortable. Anyone have experience or advice? I really don't ever wear other halter style clothes so I'm not sure how I'll feel after having it on that long. Is it something to actually worry about, or not really? Was anyone uncomfortable becuase of a halter top? Thanks... and sorry for the rant...

Of course we are getting married on the beach, and I have a very stong feeling I am going to end up in the water at some point.. (probably my photographer's idea) The beach has these huge rocks that we've always jumped off of into the water, and I think it would be so cool to have a photo jumping off the rock in my dress.... problem is we are having a reception 2 weeks after we get home and I am planning on wearing my dress again. So, How would a lace dress (Demetrios) do in salt water? Would dry cleaning when I get home help? I'm afraid to ruin in for the party.

Is anyone else getting flack for wanting a veil for a beach wedding? My fiance doesn't think it "matches" everything. I know it probably sounds odd, but I just don't think I'll feel "bridal" without the veil. Plus, I just want one- isn't that enough? One question/worry I do have is about it blowing around... has anyone attached weights to a veil? Ideas?

How far in advance is everyone sending out passport invites? Since they have so much extra info needed to book flights and such, should they go earlier than usual?

You're STD's are amazing. I've been struggling with how much info should go with the STD vs. the formal invite. I think you found a good balance. I am curious though, how much or what are you sending in the invites? Thanks for all the great ideas!!

Hello, New here to the board. We are planning an October 2009 wedding on Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. Our family has grown up always vacationing there and have friends now on the island, so it was an easy locale choice. We live in New Jersey and are also planning a post-wedding celebration when we get back. Anyone else planning a BVI wedding?? There's not many of us!
