  1. Hi All, I need to choose my restaurant for the reception dinner and Portofino (Italian) and El Dorado (steakhouse) have already been booked. I've been told my choices are either the Mediterranean or Mexican a-la-cartes or else reserving a section of one of the buffet restaurants. Help! Has anyone eaten at Mare Nostrum (Mediterranean) or La Adelita (Mexican)? I had my heart set on Portofino but now I don't know what to choose! Any feedback on the restaurants would be very helpful. Would you recommend the buffets? Thank you in advance!

  3. Hi all, Does anyone know the price per person to have a private beach reception (or if it's even possible)? I thought there was info in this thread on it but I can't seem to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! If our numbers stay small I'd love to go with this option. Thanks!
  4. Hi All! We are going to get legally married before we go, probably 2 weeks before or so, but will treat it more like paperwork than a wedding. We might just invite our parents to keep it really simple, not exchange rings, etc. We are also having an AHR on January 16. There were just too many people who can't make it to Mexico that we would like to celebrate with (like my FI's grandparents). Originally I wanted a BBQ in the summer that was more casual, but I didn't think waiting 8 months made sense because by that point it's so far after the wedding. I ended up renting a hall and will be having a dinner, but the price is really reasonable. On the bright side I get to wear my dress twice! Leanne
  5. Michelle, I laughed out loud when I read your post! Your story sounds just like mine...my fiance and I have been together for 9 years as well, and will be married at the Grand Palladium as well, but just 2 weeks before you! Welcome to the forum and congratulations!
  6. I'm a Maggie bride too! Well technically, Sottero & Midgley, style number JSM1136. It doesn't look even remotely the same on the website as in person since the model is wearing it in pearl rose - my dress is white. I knew I wanted a Maggie dress right from the start and I love it! It makes me feel tropical but still like a princess. I can't wait to wear it. I bought mine from a local bridal shop, but I was able to buy it off the rack for 10% off since it was my size and color and they had another one there for people to try on. There are a lot of us Maggie brides around!
  7. We haven't decided on our reception yet since it could depend on the number of people who end up coming on the trip. I am fine with it not being totally private, but I may not have a choice. Do most people do a la carte vs. the buffet restaurants?
  8. Hi ladies, We just booked out photographer! We're going with Tamm's Photos. I was really impressed with her portfolio and the price was reasonable for what we get. Our ceremony is at 1:00pm so I need more hours than most and her package is for the entire day, which works great. She provides all the photos on CD, as well as a hard cover album of 100 photos. The best part is that she also includes a "honeymoon" shoot another day, so I might do a TTD session! Now I'm getting excited but I still have 7.5 months to go! It's just a big relief because all of the major things are booked and I already have my dress as well. Good luck with deciding on your photographer Candice!
  9. We have our date! November 18 - yay! Candice, a drink sounds like a great idea! We are actually going to stay in the Mayan until November 29, but are moving resorts for our second week to an adults only (probably EDR). Now I just need to book the photographer...so many choices!

  11. Hi beachbride, are you still looking to share your photographer? We might be interested...I sent you a PM. If we do end up at the EDR, we'll totally have to have a margarita!
  12. Hey All, We just booked our wedding for the week of November 15-22, 2009 at the Grand Palladium Colonial! It's so exciting to finally have the resort booked. We're still waiting to hear what date the actual wedding will be and then we can start doing everything else. Thanks everyone for all the great ideas and feedback - it makes planning things a lot easier! Leanne
  13. Hi All, I just booked my wedding week, so I too am a November 2009 Bride! We're going to the Grand Palladium Colonial from November 15-22, but the wedding date is still to be confirmed. We're going to spend a second honeymoon week at a different resort but haven't decided on that yet - maybe the EDR? Great thread! Good luck in all your planning everyone!
  14. Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to all your great advice!
  15. Hello to all my fellow brides! My name is Leanne Vulgan and I am planning a destination wedding in the Mayan Riviera for May 2009. I haven't booked anything yet as we finally nailed down when we want to go last week (there were a few things that delayed our decision until now - my mom passed away recently after a battle with cancer and my fiance has to have knee surgery). So everything was in limbo for a while. Now we're planning things in a very short amount of time! Right now I'm trying to narrow down the resort - we need to have it at a resort that allows children as a few of my friends have recently had babies and will most likely be bringing them along. The second week we would like to switch resorts for our honeymoon - right now I'm liking the El Dorado Royale. Any advice would be greatly appreciated to help in our planning! Thanks!
