One other thing. Were any of you able to do tasting of menus before the event?

Good luck on the diet! I got back into exercizing too, and we're both going to look and feel amazing!

I'm looking through banquet PDF provided by the website, and for "brunch buffet" and "family style" and "BBQ deluxe", do I get ALL the food that's listed on the page, or do I have to choose? Hmmm.

I saw the pictures of food on expedia and they look pretty good, so I'm not too concerned about the menu-except for the fact that both my sister and I are allergic to gluten dary, milk, eggs and almonds...so there will be a lot of substitutions on mine and her plate. I probably don't even have to mention that there will be no wedding cake served!
My main concern with this resort is that the ceremony and the reception is not secluded. Almost anyone at the resort can see it. Also, I don't think they offer a donkey with a sombrero like EDR!!!!

The wedding corrdinator responded very promtply. Looks like gazebo and beach wedding are the only 2 settings available.
Here are more info about their wedding for anybody who needs them.

My jaw just dropped to the floor. Let me bend over and pick it up!
Sex slavery in poor country is something that REALLY bothers the hell out of me, and I don't want to visit Thailand for that particular reason. I would cry my eyes out if I see an old man with an 8 year old!
I'm sorry that your father in law has to attend the wedding. I wish it were simple enough to cut all ties with him. Don't be hurt by not getting any recognition from that creep, it's probably for the better.
Ych! I think I have to shower now. I feel dirty.
My prayers are with you!

HI!
The only pictures that I found on the ceremony site was that concrete gazebo, which doesn't look that private. Are there any other wedding location on the site? Pics would hlep tremendously!

I've never fallen in love with a piece of clothing like this!
I'm usually indecisive, and I didn't like anything that I saw in magazines. So I was surprise to find my dream dress only a week after my engagement.
My fiancee and I went to have my engagement ring resized, and this dress was on display at the atelier ACROSS THE STREET from where he got the ring! How convenient!
I wanted to try on other dresses just in case, but nothing fit me better than the one. I wasn't too keen on strapless dresses either, which seems to be the trend these days. This dress was beautiful, but I look short in it.

Wear one for the ceremony and wear another for the reception!!!

I've read the terms regarding using outside vendors and musicians, and EDR seems pretty strict on those rules...
I have a guest who is a movie composer, and I'm thinking that I may want him to play a set on his saxophone. I also want to provide my own minister for the ceremony.
Do you think EDR will charge phenomenal fee for bringing those people in? These outside vendor fee is such pain in the arse!
On another note, do EDR and ED Maroma allow bonfires on the beach?

I looked at the sample of "Mexican wedding photos" on their website, and it looks great! Check it out.

It's been a while, so you must have had your site visit. Tell me more!

Oh! Lucky you!
I got engaged in Paris. I'll write the details down later, but you can get a short version on the first post in my blog. I loooooooooove France!

Ohhhhhhh! How did I miss that?! I was staring at the screen on multiple occasions...I guess my lasik surgery didn't turn out well!

Thanks for all the welcoming! That's great!
I'll start working out again on monday, this time with a personal trainer! As for my fiancee, I'll start off his swimming lesson by making him hold his breath underwater...or shove him into a pool. But then again, there may be no wedding after that!

Is there a serch function on this forum? That would be so helpful considering how many posts are on here

Hello. Thanks for sharing all the valuable info!
I have a wedding coming up in July, 2009. Just out of curiosity, I started to check out the AI prices in Expedia. I'm especially interested in EDR, Excellence Riviera Cancun, Iberostar Grand... The prices that I have gotten so far is anywhere from high 400- 700+ per night. I'm planning to use a TA (possibly from this forum) when I'm ready to book, but PLEASE tell me that those prices will get lower... say in the range of 200-300 per night. Am I just kidding myself?
Just out of curiosity, I also did a flight search for the july 2009 from San Fran, and it was surprisingly cheap. It was in the 300 range.

Hi, this is Ikupoo.
I turned the computer on this morning and haven't left the site since (It's 5:16PM)! I'm addicted to looking up destination weddings on this site, tripadvisor and even youtube!
I'm a total beach person, whereas my fiance can't swim (nor other sport activity for that matter) His family has health issues too, so I need somewhere that has the both sea/land activities. Therefore I'm thinking Riviera Maya...any other recommendations?
I'm having my dress custom made, and it'll finish in July 2009. The wedding will probably take in early-mid July.

I envisioned fireworks, sparklers, bonfires with smores on my wedding night, but I don't think the two resorts that I'm interested in allow any of those things. Can someone give me alternative options for unique entertainment ideas? All I have right now....is a donkey.....
