I agree with the other ladies... it is a super cute idea and I am sure that it will look amazing in pictures with those vibrant colors. But, absolutely check with your resort to make sure that they are okay with it and that there is someone to pick it up.

We are getting legally married in the US and doing a renewal of vows package in DR. I asked our WC; she will perform our ceremony in DR and they do not require any legal documentation.

 

We have told our guests that we are doing the legal part of our marriage in the US to be with his elderly grandmother BUT we are not exchanging vows, rings or considering it to be our actual wedding day. Basically, the US marriage is legal and symbolic for his grandmother; the DR wedding is our 'real wedding' in every way.

 

Honestly, none of our guests minded at all ... no one even questioned it; especially when I explained what a process it was to get legally married in DR (costs, translation, etc).

That's very nice of him to offer to pay for the dress.. and as long as the weight loss is something that YOU want to do for yourself/were already planning on doing yourself - then it's fantastic of him to provide you with a great reward if you meet your goals.

I agree with everyone else ... this forum especially with all the fabulous dresses the gals have can make you have major dress envy!! I know it happens to me a few times a week! BUT, your dress is perfect on you; I say keep it. If you are really that unsure of it though; we do have a lot of 2 plus dress brides on here...

Yippy.. I am getting stuff done now!! I just found my bridal jewelry on Etsy. The crystals match perfectly with the some very subtle and small crystal beadwork at the empire waist of my gown. I am so excited!!!

Okay, I just saw this and have to chime in!!!

 

My first instinct would also be that I want to burn them... LOL! But, cooler heads would prevail and I would just tell them I found them; how should we dispose of them??

 

When FI and I were moving in together... he gave me a box of pictures when he was working OT one Saturday and told me I could look through them. There were tons of pics with ex's which didn't bother me very much. There were a few cards/letters which kind of got under my skin. Then there were some very suggestive (to say the least) - fine, pornographic pictures of two of his ex's ... now those I had a major problem with. I called him immediately and asked who the naked chicks were in the pics; where they the ones with the letters? I tried to make a joke about it but he could tell when he got home it bugged me. I didn't push it ... and the next day he showed me that he threw away the porno pics and he letters; that he forgot that he had them.

 

I honestly don't keep a lot of stuff either. I have one wedding album (the others we burned together at a party in our backyard with our friends); but am keeping one because it was a major part of my life. I did ask him if it bothered him though because if it did - I would get rid of it. He could care less; so its sits in the corner of a closet gathering dust.

I agree with everyone else.. I think that almost all of us have been through the family guilt thing; so I am glad that you are feeling better about it.

 

FI's elderly grandmother and aunt were not happy about our DW either... we are going to the courthouse in their town to get married with them as witnesses so it will be something special just for them.

I cannot believe she let Jake to either... AND kept Wes! One of these guys needs to step up and hopefully she will listen when they do! Michael is so super sweet as well! All I can do is HOPE that she sends Wes home next week...

It is a gorgeous dress!!! I definitely agree with Morgan; that is a great thread that she is talking about and there are a ton of sites that do knock-off Maggie's. And I also echo her sentiment about alterations; my dress was within my budget but now that I have alterations - it has put me over with a $350 alteration charge for some simple things!

Ooohh.. good tip!! I actually remember seeing those at Michael's a while back but FI wouldn't agree with me on how cute they were for OOT bags. LOL! Now I can that you gals like them too - that may convince him.
