But I dress shopped at DB a few times, and overall I like the dresses. I just never found "the one" at DB. But my runner up was a DB dress.
I am the same way... Empire waist dresses are what I wear almost every day. When it came to my wedding gown; they weren't that flattering. I am not sure why.

I totally agree with the suggestion above... go out shopping and try on some dresses of similar style and others that are different. You will be surprised what looks good and what doesn't.
  2. Hi Ladies,

After some hit and miss shopping; I went with my bm's on Saturday to try on wedding and bm gowns !! We snuck some pics at one place and the other place actually let us take pics (yah!).

I think that I have finally narrowed it down to the style I want and there are two dresses that I would love your honest opinions on...

#1 --- is a LOT more expensive -- $2800 but it is on sample sale; so it would cost me $2000 which is more than I wanted to spend. My MOH had to sneak pics so they are not great; but u can get the idea. And it was a bit more form fitting than I wanted; the derrier looks a bit huge now that I look at the pics again! Eek!

#2 is a lot less expensive .. $580something. It's a Nicole Miller gown from a boutique bridal store near my house. It was big on top, but once again, the picture shows the idea..

Here is the link for it on a website:

Okay, so what do you all think? Please ignore my bad hair, no makeup and tired look. It was a very long day out with 4 very opinionated girls!

    Thanks Everyone!

  3. I also have a budget for my bm's and it is sooo important to me that they can wear it again! =)

We originally liked these dresses but they were too expensive

So, now I think that we may go with these in teal (there is another thread around here about these dresses as well!)

I love the JCrew line of dresses as well.. they are super cute and wearable, but 2 of my BM's balked at the price. =(

My bm's also like the dress below from Davids Bridal and most of them said that it would be a cute summer party dress -

David's Bridal - Bridesmaid 81372 Short strapless printed crinkle chiffon dress with bubble hem.

And Davids Bridal also has this new Modern Expressions line which they also thought some of the things were cute and 'wear again'able.

Modern Expressions Bridesmaid Dresses - Online bridesmaid gowns from David's Bridal

    Good Luck!!!

Yeah...I think you're right about both too!! Gee you're smart!! See...all I needed was someone to tell me what to do!!
I think I'm going to get my MOH the same pendant...what do you think??
    What is your MOH wearing?
And, thats up to you.... My opinion, I love the idea of my MOH and BM's keeping in theme with me jewelry wise but not having the same exact thing as I do. If you do the necklace, maybe buy MOH the earrings or vice versa.
And I also like SDNative's idea of the bracelet!

I am sure whatever you do it will look amazing!!!
  5. Well, I would never recommend anyone use a tanning bed given all the information out there about skin answer etc..

That being said, I am going to be a complete hypocrite blush2.gif and say that I will most likely hit the tanning bed for a while before my wedding.

It may make no sense scientifically, but if I don't have a 'base tan' I burn like a little tomato. If I do have a 'base tan' then I don't burn. Perhaps its in my head, but I am in DR for 3 days before my wedding and want to enjoy the weather sunburn free with my 50spf on!

  6. Amazing dress!!! FH is going to love that... smile159.gif!!!

I am also a very 'matchy matchy girl' ... but IMHO it will still look beautiful. I would not worry about it. If you want to get technical, they are both neutrals and willl not clash or look strange next to eachother.

And, with a a dress that HOT; noone is going to notice the color difference all they are going to see is a beautiful bride!

  7. Beautiful rings ladies!!!!!!!!

Mine is FH's grandmothers ring.. she said its almost 100 years old.

It's not what I would have ever chosen; but that being said, it means so much to me that his family wants me to have it - so I actually love it more than anything I would have chosen because of that!

And we had to get it sized waaayyy down; Im another small handed bride - my ring size is a 4!

Sorry, its blurry-- I took the pic with my phone!

And since its so vintage, we went to an estate jeweler in my town and found this band.. think we are going to buy it. They look great together!

  8. We are trying to decide between:

Making Memories Of Us by Keith Urban

YouTube - Keith Urban - Making Memories of Us

Every Day is my choice; its perfect for our relationship.

    Every Day by Rascal Flats

    YouTube - Everyday Rascal Flatts

My Best Friend By Tim McGraw

YouTube - Tim McGraw: My Best Friend

I Could Never Love You Enough - this one FH sent me the lyrics to very early in our relationship.. was so sweet coming from a normally unromantic man!

I Could Never Love You Enough by Brian McComas

    - can't find it on youtube, but here are the lyrics:

    I heard so many times

You've got to take love slow

    That's just something said

But unsure people who don't know

    What it's like to fall

When you fall with all your heart

Wanting to be together every second you're apart

Must not know what it feels like to feel like this

    Longing for each moment

    Waiting for each kiss

    CHORUS

I could never love you enough

I could never hold you too tight

Never give too much of my heart

    Never spend too many nights

With my arms just wrapped around you

    And a million stars above

Baby, I still can't believe I found you

    I could never love you

    Never love you enough

Seems like the time we're given

    Always goes too fast

Before I know it, with you girl

    The future is the past

    Second turn to hours

    The hours turn to days

    Seems like you're always leaving

When I'm wanting you to stay

'Cause I could spend the rest of my life with you mine

And still it'd only feel like a few seconds in time

    CHORUS

I could never love you enough

I could never hold you too tight

Never give too much of my heart

    Never spend too many nights

With my arms just wrapped around you

    And a million stars above

Baby, I still can't believe I found you

    I could never love you

    Never love you enough

I could never love you enough

I could never hold you too tight

Never give too much of my heart

    Never spend too many nights

With my arms just wrapped around you

    Underneath a million stars above

Baby, I still can't believe I found you

    I could never love you

    Never love you enough

I could never love you enough

I see you are from Madison,NJ. I am from Clinton, NJ and my FH works in Madison. I am struggling with the same issues as you. We are having a 2 hour cocktail party following the ceremony we plan on having our 1st dance, parent dances, toasts, and cake cutting then. This will be our only private time with our guests as our dinner will be at the resort's beach party. When I tell people this they seam confused. I think weddings are just so routine up here that anything different scares people. The way I see it is I didn't want a "traditional" wedding so we can do things in any order we want. I don't know about you but none of my 43 guests have ever been to a destination wedding. If you want to dance on the beach, why not?
cheers.gif NJ Bride!! Glad I am not alone with people being confused over this whole thing!!! But, I think that I will go with the idea of incorporating it into my cocktail hour; but then I will have to invite all of our guests to the cocktail hour instead of just the wedding party... Hmmm! At our resort its only an extra $5 something USD for each person over 20ppl so I guess that's not too much of an added expense.

Thank you Justustwo!! You are right.. I am worrying too much about keeping this appropriate or tradional when our wedding will be anything but that!

BechataBride - Wow! Your first dance on a clifftop in a gazebo sounds magical.. who needs to be able to clearly hear the music?!? You will be making your own. Can't wait to see the pictures!
  10. Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some advice... And I am not sure that this is on the right section but it seemed the most appropriate!

We are getting married at Dreams Punta Cana on the beach; given that the resort is all-inclusive and we have a tight budget; we cannot justify to ourselves paying for a formal reception. We are considering a 1hr cocktail time just for the bridal party and parents; but that's the extent. We will head to the 'disco' after dinner (which will be at the World Cafe buffet restaurant, they are reserving tables for us) and then party/dance the night away...

Here is where I am looking for ideas - FH and I really still want to have our first dance and parent dances.

Do you all think that its appropriate to do the dances directly after the ceremony? We will already have our IPod set up from the ceremony... we could just do it right on the beach and share these moments with our guests.

    Thoughts or alternate suggestions?

    Thanks ladies!!!!!!!!!

  11. Just to share.. I went through a TA who was able to give much better rates than the resort was for a group.

We are staying at Dreams Punta Cana and will probably have close to 50ppl if not more.. we reserved 10 guaranteed to hold the group rate.

    Deluxe Room

Single (meaning one person in room only): $1305/pp for 7 nights

Double (meaning two ppl in room only): $886/pp for 7 nights = $1772 room

Triple (meaning three ppl in room only): $875/pp for 7 nights = $2625 room

These rates were all inclusive including taxes, fees, etc and include xfers to and from the airport.

If you are interested, I am happy to give anyone info for my TA (PM me). She is great and does everything over the phone so your location doesn't really matter.

  12. Hi Everyone!
