  1. Oh yeah wanted to mention, when talking to Gilberto he said there is nothing to worry about the DJ's that they get them from 2 companies and they are very good. I asked him if they emcee the event too. And he said that they only speak spanish! I don't know what we are going to do about a DJ! It is crazy that this is the only option is for one that doesn't speak english. We are hesitant to give a guest the job of emceeing the ceremony (there are a lot of announcements to do and want the DJ to read the crowd to play the right music at the right time) There were so many nice people that worked at Azul Beach with great personalities that spoke great English and were very funny too. My FI and I were thinking why can't they do it? I don't get it. Thoughts for a DJ option
  2. We were very surprised to see how unfinished Sensatori was. When we originally got in the car, they had hard hats for us to wear. (I was thinking to myself, where are in the process of completing the hotel) But I think (this is our guess) that it will open on November 1st, but may not everything finished. I didn't get a picture of the beach ceremony option. I don't think it was built yet, but most of the sites for the beach look similiar at all resorts. When we stayed at Azul Beach the arch was permanantly there right in the middle of the beach strip. But don't know for Sensatori where it was located. We are waiting to book at Azul Sensatori. We are trying to confirm a date in November. Waiting to hear back from the TA. Waiting and waiting.... We are going to get married at the SkyDeck and then want to do the reception in the big round part in the middle of the hotel. Carolina said that we could hang lanterns up (the circle is surrounded by palm trees and i think the lanterns will be strung from the trees) that would cross the reception site. And we are planning to do roundtables on the perimeter of the circle and the dance floor in the middle. We felt this was the most intimate way to set it up. Not great b/c in the middle of the hotel, but the spot at Zocalo was only on the perimeter of the restaurant, and the dance floor would be at the end. (not enough of an intimate feel for us) Carolina is great! Her office is currently at Azul Beach so we could ask her questions each day we were there. She is moving her office to Sensatori when it is built. And yes, she and Gilberto will be assigned to Sensatori. She said they already have 175 weddings booked between Sensatori and Fives! (Crazy) I think that's about it, let me know if you have any questions.

Did they seem reassuring on the opening date? The only thing that is making me feel a little better that Andy looked at the photos and laughed at me for worrying (hes in construction management) He said they look like they are almost done, esp. since they are all ready painting and such. I will be such a mess if things don't work out. The damn reason we are having a destination wedding is for less stress. My FI and I were talking about that too. It was a lot more unfinished than we thought it would be. Carolina assured us that it would be done, and that every time they go back to look at it, there is so much more work done. Our guess is that it will open on November 1st, but may not have everything finished. (probably minor details of things) But as far as restaurants and pools, I think that will be done.
  4. Zocolo - which faces the beach is another option they said for a ceremony along the perimeter of the restaurant Grass tennis courts (fake grass i think) I have other pics of the restaurants, but they are not finished, so not worth it to post them. Hope this gives you a good idea of Sensatori, let me know if you have any questions
  5. Pics of beach beds being built Swim up bar This is the "premium building" that has the swim up room and also a private 2nd jacuzzi outside of the room Gazebo - option for ceremony Honeymoon suite room Honeymoon suite balcony If you plan on having the beach BBQ buffet, here is where they serve it from Another option for the reception along the pool
  6. I started the site review. Here's the link http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...274#post563102
  7. Hey Girls Here's the long awaited review of Azul Sensatori. First, let me say that it is an amazing hotel perfect for weddings. It is not quite done, and they said it should be opening November 1st. We stayed at the sister hotel, Azul Beach, which is less than a quarter of a mile down the beach from Sensatori) We met Carolina (onsite WC from Azul) and Gilberto (WC from Lomas Travel) at our hotel, Azul Beach, and they drove us to Azul Sensatori. They were very excited about all the progress that is taking place and said that each time they come it drastically changes. It was crazy b/c my FI and I were walking around with the WC's and met the general manager of the hotel and picking out locations for the ceremony and reception locations for the hotel Here is a pic of the lobby. To the right is the check in desk (with a fish aquarium behind it and to the right is the gift shop, wedding office and a fossil museum) If you walk throug the lobby, you will be in the roof garden lounge which is the central bar of the hotel. There is going to be live entertainment here. To the left of the lounge is the mojito bar. Then walking forward there is a great view of the central area of the hotel. The big circle in the middle is one of the options for a reception. Great location with lots of room. There are 4 buildings that run perpendicular to the beach and these are where the rooms are. On one of the buildings is the Sky deck. It is far away from any kitchen, so I can see why there is not a cocktail or ceremony allowed, b/c it would be hard to get food here. They do bring in a cocktail though if you have your wedding here. As you can see from the pics, there is still some work to do. Right now, there isn't any glass. They said the glass is going to be around eye level (somewhere around there) and cover up the air conditioners too.
  8. Hey Girls I am back from the site visit and have lots of pics. Promise to post them soon after work. Definitely not finished but said it will be opened in November. Everything is built, but just not finished. Abby
  9. I just found this on youtube that shows Sensatori. YouTube - Azul Sensatori by Karisma - WildTravelDeals.com
  10. Does anyone have anymore info? I saw a newslink that included Dreams Tulum and Eurostar Blue Tulum. I am leaving in 2 days and supposed to be staying at Eurostar

For the ceremony I know one spot is the beach and the other the sky bar. Do you want me to get pics of the gazebo (if they have one) too?
  12. Hey Girls, here is some info that I got from Fabio during a Q&A with him. You may have this info, but wanted to share. Do you allow us to send packages before we arrive? no, but can be sent while you are at resort What is your rain plan for the ceremony and reception? in meeting room Is there a separate bar setup at the reception or only waiters for drinks? depends on location, at the terrace there is a bar set up nearby so guests can go there, there are also waiters at your event, on beach bar is set up How much does it cost to have menus printed? do not do that, should print at home Can we bring paper lanterns? can bring lanterns or get a quote for them to be set up for only private events, approximately $10-25/ table
  13. I can't believe how time flies either. I am actually not staying at the resort (I am meeting Maria at Azul Beach and then going to Sensatori) I am going to the site on October 2nd and come back the 5th. I promise to take lots and lots of pics and get good descriptions of the ceremony and reception sites. From what I have found out through Fabio (although vague) I think that the reception sites are the beach, Zocalo (the restaurant that is partly outside) and le Chique (which is adults only). I am so excited. It seems like Sensatori is somewhat of a mystery right now and I can't wait to see it and share it with you guys.
  14. And I am doing my site visit October 2nd. Can't wait, less than a week now. Let me know if anyone has any questions for me to ask
  15. The wedding coordinator at Eurostar Blue Tulum told me that they allow pets. And have pet massages even. It's kind of far from EDR, but it's an option.
  16. Hey Girls, FYI - TA Jennifer is setting a webcast for Karisma with the director of wedding services so that we can ask questions. It is going to be Sunday November 2nd at 7pm EST. They might even have a booking incentive while on the webcast. Below is the link. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t29197
  17. Hey I am looking at Eurostar Blue Tulum and going to do a site visit on October 1st. I have been emailing with Angelina and the place seems very nice and accomdating when it comes to doing weddings. Is anyone a Eurostar bride? Would love to hear your feedback.

Don't know about all of ya'll but I feel like a crazy person trying to plan this wedding! I find my self on line 24 7 on this forum and other websites, sometimes looking at the same stuff over and over again (until like 2am)! I guess I thought this would be a lot less stressful and cheaper then having it at home but I think I was WRONG. wendi80, i completely agree with you. i can be on the inernet endlessly looking up wedding stuff, reading review, looking at vendors, etc. i think my FI gets a little overwhelmed with it at times, so I have been trying to limit it....but it is hard b/c i want ot do more research

I'm working with Fabio, but it seems like you should be able to have her approved by Nancy too. She does do a lot of weddings with Karisma properties. For the girls getting married on the same day at the same time -- I know there is another bride on June 5 too, but we are not getting married at the same time. I'm surprised they would have two at the same time? Katken, Thanks so much for letting me know that you had Elizabeth approved. Hope to hear from Nancy or Fabio soon. But hoping it won't be a problem. When you got Elizabeth approved, did you only pay the $500 fee? I read some of El Dorado Royale's Wedding (Karisma resort) thread and they were trying to charge for $75 day passes in addition to the $500 fee.
  20. Nancy just emailed me and said that they do not allow any outside vendors. I emailed her back about allowing outside photographers. I am looking at Elizabeth Medina who has done many weddings at the Karisma hotels. Hopefully they will let me bring her. I am not too happy with the photographer that are considered "inside vendors"
  21. I am trying to understand better how Karisma sets up the weddings betwen Nany/Fabio, onsite coordinators and Lomas travel. Do they require us to go through Lomas Travel? What role does Lomas Travel play (do they help us on the day of the wedding, do they provide the flowers,. etc)? Does Lomas Travel require a fee to help in the wedding?
  22. I haven't picked my site yet, but looking closely at Azul Sensatori. Even with the little communication I have had. I can see how planning a wedding from this far is frustrating. I saw on BDW that someone suggested hiring an outside WC. This is the first I have heard of this and really like the idea. Does anyone know more about it in the Riviera Mayan area? Do the resorts allow it (especially the Karisma resorts) Does anyone have any recommendations? How much does it cost? Thanks in advance
