I feel like everything is just gonna creep up on me at the last minute...it doesn't help that i am kinda procrastinating about everything i need to get done...ugh LOL

Do we need to have our birth certificates translated into Spanish and apostilled? I've heard a lot of conflicting things. Hey Joss, so no social either eh, nice Are you guys having a reception here ? I did not have to make an appt anywhere for dresses, just went on a saturday morning and did my rounds, started with the ones on portage ave and then moved our way towards downtown. All i can say is have fun with it !!! I just got an email from my travel agent telling me to check with the wedding coordinator at our resort to see what they need. we might have to have the birth certificate translated in spanish here and legalized at the mexican consulate in canada. she also mentioned that vital statistics has recently changed the look and format of manitoba birth certificates, now you may need the one with your parents name on it rather then the small credit card size. I am still waiting to hear back from the resort on exactly what we need to do.
  6. Hey Joss, Well we have 24 people so far, some people still might be booking soon or last minute, i'm not worried. Ya if we are not on the same plane we can always get the party started in the Airport LOL. We will probably be crossing paths while you leave the resort and we get there..hahaha. We are having a AHR but opted out of a social. What about you guys ? I am not really a fan of socials to begin with and didn't want to have to go though the stress. Have you chosen a photographer yet ? Good luck with the dress, i had fun going to a bunch of stores in one day just trying stuff on, and considering alot of them are in the same area it makes it easier.
  7. Love this dress, It's gorgeous ! i too wish it was in my size

Or head down to Fargo / Grand Forks or Minneapolis? Omg, that is the same day we fly out too !!! I am not sure who we are flying with yet, might be Air Canada ! hilarious. We are grabbing a taxi and heading to the Bahia Jan 30th for our honeymoon lol. we have been the the Bahia twice already and this will be our third year there in a row!!! are you staying another week for your honeymoon ? I bought my dress in the city, I probably went to every bridal and tried on a million dresses and ended up getting the first one i tried on. A friend of mine went down to David's Bridal in the states and got hers there, She loves it, another friend of mine is getting hers made. Cheers Leanne

I definitely agree with Jenninjamaica; one of the best things i did was getting a travel agent to deal with all the travel details, and initial contacts with the resort's wedding coordinator. I'd love to hear from the girls where the best local shops/places are you've picked up things for your DW Hey Joss, i am interested to know your wedding date and the resort you picked. I love seeing more and more winnipeg brides on here, it's great. I too have been very thankful for our travel agent, she has been taking care of most of the details, i wouldn't know where to start. The more and more i visit the forum the more i realize there are so many things that you can do for a destination wedding. i have not started shopping for anything for our wedding or guests yet, am still trying to figure out what and where to go too.
  10. I remember when i first checked this site out and started planning our wedding and AHR it was very overwhelming ! i am still trying to figure out details. I thought a destination wedding would be an easy way out of the traditional wedding planning but since we decided on a reception at home it's basically like planning 2 weddings...LOL
  11. Okay Ladies, I am a Huge Ufc fan, Love IT !!! Ufc 100 was awesome, especially seeing GSP Dominate his fight - awesome. Omg and when Dan henderson Knocked out Bisbing...wow that was crazy. I was in vegas in May and had the pleasure of meeting Lyoto Machida and Uriah Faber...it was great. cheers
  12. Yeah another Winnipeg Bride...Sweeet. We are not getting married in DR but we are getting married in the Riviera Maya, Jan 2010. Congrats on your engagment !!! Happy Planning
  13. Hey ladies well time flies hey? And wow only 6 mos away, Crazy. Well here is a run down of what I have and have not done Things done •Booked Trip/Wedding Date/Honeymoon •Bought Dress – ordered •Booked Venue/Food for AHR •Booked Photographer for Mexico Wedding (Bringing fromWinnipeg) •Engagement photos (using for invitations & Guest book) Things to do •Get invitations made & sent •Do Donation Cards for both receptions •Basically all planning for Mexico Wedding (probably won’t start until September) •Get DJ/Centerpieces/decor for AHR •Choose songs for Slideshows and ceremony •And the list can go on….and on….and on…. And yes I am also at work also lol, and having a hard time thinking of all the little things I will have to do…UGH
  14. Yes Thank u so much for eveyone's help, I took Tlseege's advice and was able to find a wonderful local photographer from winnipeg to stay with us for the week. She agreed willing to go on the basis that we pay for her vacation. This will be awesome as we have agreed that she will be taking pics throughout most of the week ie; on girls night out, on some excursions, wedding day and day after. I feel like it is much more econimical then having someone only there just for the wedding day only
  15. Hey, Welcome and congrats. My wedding isn't until Jan 2010 however i was able to visit the resort in January while i was in the Mayan Riviera. I had heard great things and was not disapointed. The wedding location on the beach is great, they had a wedding set up while we were there and the back ground is amazing, nothing but ocean !!! Happy planning
  16. I am Looking for a photographer for the Mayan Riviera. I amgetting married at the Catalona Yucatan in the Mayan and they do not supply a photographer. I have received an email back from one and i would like to have some prices to compare it to. Anything would help Cheers
