  1. I know I'm new to all of this but I have to chime in for a fellow Montreal bride!!!! CONGRATS on the weight loss. That's amazing!!! It's freaking tough (I've dropped close to 40lbs over the past few years with a nutritionist/yoga/running) but you've obviously got the will power to do it. If it's your arms that concern you the most then I suggest Yoga ... honestly, I've never seen such definition in my arms and it's also a GREAT workout and even relaxing with all the wedding stress!! I'll admit I didn't read this entire thread (sorry) and I'm wondering if you've gone to any wedding dress shops that aren't on St. Hubert street (I HATE that street!!)?? Good luck with the dress trial ... I think it will go MUCH better then you anticipate. Once you get into it and realize how gorgeous you can look in those white gowns all your self-doubt will melt away.
  2. I notice that a lot of you have done these boudoir books for your hubbies-to-be ... they're amazing and really well done. Does anyone know of a Montreal-based photographer who does this? And, in general, how much do these booklets/CDs cost? I know it depends on the photographer ... but in general? Thanks!!
  3. Those books are amazing and really well done!! What a fab idea!
  4. I want to do OOT bags for my guests (you guys have some awesome ideas and I do believe I'm going to have to snitch a few of them) However, I'm curious: Should I make an OOT bag per person or one per couple? How does it usually work? Thanks!!
  5. I am SO glad I'm not the only one who's dealing with this. We're in the same boat! We haven't even chosen a destination or a date and already the guest list has become an issue. It's not that we have a huge family (well, I have more on my side then my fiance) it's just that to invite everyone would mean well over 50 people which is not at all what we want. I don't want to insult anyone by not inviting them - and like idiots we already told most of our clsoe friends and family members our plans and they all "agreed" to come down with us ... Should we risk having more people then we want and send out ALL the invites? I was considering just letting the 20 or people who are definitely coming with (immediate family/bridal party/close friends) know about our wedding website with the travel info then only sending out invites to EVERYONE for the after party a few months before we leave ... Is this a good plan? I know it's OUR day, but I can't help but feel an obligation to keep family members and friends happy as well ... and I don't want to offend anyone. *sigh* Altcatlover: If you're paying for your wedding then, in reality, you have the final say on how many guests you want. Maybe remind your parents that you'll be having a party for everyone when you get home (if you're doing that) and make sure the word is spread throughout the family ... (large families are great for gossip). Hehehe Or go on the assumption that even those who insist they'll be there, probably won't, and just send out all the invites and hope for a small number!!! LOL
  6. We've been together for 7 years and he proposed just 3 weeks ago. And we'll have been together for 8 years when we get married next year.... Sounds like a long time, but we started dating when we were 17!!
  7. Thanks Tamara - I almost forgot about SellOff!! I've been back and forth between Expedia.ca, RedTag.ca and GoTravelDirect.ca ... I'm hope a travel agent will be able to swing some sort of deal if we're going to be about 20 people all together on the same flight and at the same resort ...
  8. Hi all - we may only be 3 weeks into our engagement but we've got to get a move on with the planning because we want to get married next spring (April/May). Perhaps the hardest thing so far has been choosing a destination. I was wondering if anyone has booked at our top 4 choices, or has/had inquired about weddings at these places and if anyone has ANY advice for us? We're in Mnotreal, Canada, by the way ... not sure if that makes a difference ... Here are our top choices: Iberostar Cozumel, Mexico BlueBay Villa Dorados, DR Ceiba Del Mar Beach & Spa, Riviera Maya Melia Las Dunas, Santa Clara, Cuba We don't want to pay too much (the idea of this destination wedding is to SAVE money for us and our families) but we want to have an amazing week with close friends and family. Any advice/tips/tricks you can offer would be amazing. We're feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed at the moment!! Blissfully, Miranda
  9. Hi all - this is my n00b introduction. I got engaged nearly 3 weeks ago to a man I've been dating for 7 years ... so yes, it was about time!!! We've been living together for nearly a year and things are amazing. I was so shocked and never suspected a thing. We're planning on having our wedding next spring, '09 and want to do it somewhere down south (obviously), but we're not sure where yet! And, as people have told me, time is running out for us to decide if we want to pull this all together ... so I'm going to need all the help I can get!! Blissfully, Miranda
