  1. Hi Can I ask, how many songs do we need to pick for the wedding ceremony? I am thinking: 1 for walking down the isle 1 for signing the register and 1 for walking back up the isle Do I need to pick any more? Do I also need to pick a selection of songs whilst my guests are waiting for me to arrive? If so how many? Thanks
  2. Hi Christina276, which one of the $12.00 meals did you go for? Was it any good? We were gonna go for the $36 one but then felt it is an all inclusive and if guests get hungry later they can just go to one of the restaurants. thanks
  3. Our Travel Agent managed to get us a free upgrade to a casita suite. We have also been informed by Karisma that we will get $200 credit per room that can be used in any facility in the hotel i.e. water sports, spa. Plus we are getting $500 off any off any additional wedding purchases. We will order 10 torches now......did you order any beach candles, if so how many? Thanks for answering all my dumb questions!!!
  4. we are doing maracas and putting them on the table and getting sombreros to hang on the back of the chairs....totally keeping in with the mexican theme.
  5. I have just responded to Valerie to say we have picked the presidential gazebo for our ceremony and a private event dinner party in tucanes for our evening reception . We have asked for the pink isle runner with rose petals and chair with covers and pink bows. I will probably just have undressed chairs for the reception, I have not decided yet. I have also asked for mexican wedding photos Natalieann you said your wedding package was 980 for 3 hrs but I have been quoted 880 for 2 hours or 1250 for 3 hours. That is a big jump in price!! for tucanes, I would like to get tiki torches and beach candles, how many would you recommond that I get and where would I put them? Thanks
  6. I have booked my wedding/holiday through thomas cook which is a travel agent in the UK. We getting married on 30th June - our 10 yr anniversary :) I think it is a bit rip off that they dont allow you to use the chair coverings and bows for the reception that you paid for during the ceremony... Thanks for the info for the meal...I think we will go with the $36 one. I am not too keen on the first course, do you think they would allow you to change it at no extra cost? I think I will email Valerie to double check. I am so excited cant wait...less than 15 weeks to go...i know it will just fly in
  7. ah natalie ann - werent you an azul five beach who was also moved like 2 days before your wedding?? I remember your photos...they were done by mexican wedding photos werent they? After seeing your photos that is who we are going with and I feel they are reasonably priced. What photo package did you go for? We were thinking of going for the $880 for 2 hours. I think we will end up having the reception in Tuscanes and get a few tiki torches and those small candles....think it wil look lovely. What did you do for a meal? We were thinking of doing $36 set menu...have you heard if the food on these set menus are any good?? thanks
  8. I am an Azul Fives bride who has been moved to the el dorado royale. The wedding reviews at this hotel are amazing and I cant wait till its my turn!!! I hope some of you can answer a few questions for me. I would like to get chairs with white chair cover and pink bow for the my wedding ceremony, will these chairs be moved to my reception or do I need to pay again for the chair covers and bows? I would like to have my reception on the beach, i have 20 guests, is this possible? if so where can I have it and what is it like? I am getting married in June, I take it will still be hot enough in the evening? Failing the beach reception I think I like the look of Tucanes, can you tell me if this is private? I will probably have a billion other questions but thats all I have at the moment. Thanks for your help!!!
  9. I was considering moving to the secrets maroma for my wedding as I was an Azul Fives bride who needed to move to another hotel....I am decided to stick with Karisma and move to the Eldorado Royale....wanted to thank you all for your help. Even though I am moving to the EDR for my wedding, I still love this hotel so much that I am planning to move to this hotel on my 3rd week instead of the hotel we have already booked (The royal cancun). Hope everyone has a fab wedding!!
  10. Hi has any of the brides been moved yet? what hotel have you been allocated to and how long did it take for karimsa to get back to you? i havent been informed yet
  11. Hi Simistar....that sounds like a good idea I think that could look really pretty with lights twisted round them I like the idea of having a bbq as food for the wedding reception so if we have our set up where you are suggesting then it is likely they will allow me to have one....i am not sure if the bbq would be extra or if that would be included in the price of the wedding. unfortunately I cannot afford an outside wedding planner which is why I am counting on this forum to help me :) Again thanks for your help.
  12. Hi Simistar thanks for your reply - its been very very helpful. I need to speak to the hubby-to-be and get his opinion.....he normally leaves it up to me anyway and just goes wiht whatever I say!! We might end up doing what you done or having a reception by the beach bar. Thanks again for the info...much appreciated
  13. Hi Natalie Ann - just looking at your photos and they look amazing...can I ask what photographer you used?? thanks
  14. Thanks D&ESept2009, Wot hotel are you considering moving to? I am so fed up with Karisma now and dont think I want to stay with them. What they are offering us as compensation I dont think is good enough. We are spending thousands of pounds on that wedding and we have a few guests already booked up and that is the best they can do!?!?! We have been looking at a few hotels and I think we will probably move to Secrets Maroma.
  15. Hi Kits55 I know exactly wot you mean!! I keep changing my mind, I am so indecisive!! The reason I am getting so stressed out is because we were meant to be getting married in the azul fives (took us about 3 months to pick this place) then found out on friday that it will not open in time for our wedding (getting married in June) I have emailed Cecilia to ask if this sort of set up can be done at the maroma and I am waiting to hear back. I will post her response on here once she responds. When are you getting married in the maroma? Are you having the ceremony and the reception on the beach?
  16. hi i was an azul fives bride but found out on friday that it will now not open until fall 2009 i am considering secrets maroma.....do you have any photos you can share? thanks
  17. Hi hopefully this link should work now... Secrets Capri - Traveler Reviews - Got Married Here and LOVED It - TripAdvisor Thanks
  18. Has any of the other brides spoken with Karisma to find out what our options are? Do you think Karisma will compensate us for this huge screw-up?
  19. Hi Simister sorry to bombard you with questions but you have been a godsend to this thread!!! My heart is set on having my ceremony and reception on the beach this - for us is the whole reason for doing a destination wedding. Please can you look at the photos in this link... Playa del Carmen: Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun - Traveler Reviews - Got Married Here and LOVED It - TripAdvisor My ideal wedding reception would be as per the photos in this link, it is secluded on the beach, the set up is lovely and the table is set up underneath some sort of wooden frame. This wedding was done at secrets capri....however I would like this sort of set up at the secrets maroma...do they have these sort of wooden frames at the maroma?? I think I have seen somewhere that you can pay extra to have an exotic gazebo on the beach in the maroma....wot is this like? is it worth the extra money? how much is it? I am so stressed at the moment, it took us about 3 months to settle on the azul fives and now we can no longer go there, I want to book somewhere else asap but I also want to take the time to find the right place for us. I just cant decide where to go. I want everything to be perfect but I am not sure the maroma ticks all the boxes for us (in relation to the beach wedding/ceremony). I am soooo confused Destination weddings are meant to be stressfree not stressful!! again thanks for your help with my questions.
  20. Hi simistar thanks that makes sense. We were planning on having a private wedding reception anyways, so that works out perfectly....this actually works out a whole lot cheaper than Karisma as we needed to pay extra for our guests if we wanted a private party. Did you have your reception on the beach? Was it secluded or did you have people sunbathing right next to you? thanks for your help!!!
  21. Hi wonder if you can help. I was booked to get married in the Azul Fives however I have just found out that it will now not open until November 2009 i am now considering this resort. Please can you clarify for me. The silver and gold wedding package is $2000 and $2750. On their website it says that it include a meal for 20 people, is this meal in one of the restaurants or can you have it as a private dinner party on the beach? If it is a private dinner party do you need to pay extra? thanks for you help!!
  22. Hi All I am utterly devestated by this announcment I am due to get married in June. I dont think I want to stay with Karisma after this so we are thinking of moving. We are considering going to Excellence Rivieria Cancun, or Secrets...not sure I need to look into these hotels first. Anyone have any suggestions?? I am going down to see my Travel Agent today to see what my options are.
  23. Hi All Please see this thread on trip advisor... Playa del Carmen forum: Azul Fives - TripAdvisor its says the resort is not scheduled to open until 1st Feb!! Has anyone had this confirmed with Karisma? I have already emailed Fabio, he hasnt emailed me back! Just read in sensatori thread that he has been in an accident though!!...I shall email their general email address from the website.
  24. Hi Jennik13 I have naturelly curly hair also!!! I am getting married in the azul fives not the sensatori but I have the same worries as you....my hair tends to go abit fizzy in humidity so I plan on putting it up. I am not sure what I am doing, I will definately leave it curly as if I even try to straighten it the hot weather, goodness knows what fuzz ball I will end up with
  25. Hey Peace oh its exciting you have booked up :) I cant wait till the hotel actually opens so we can start reading the reviews!!! Tracy S - The hotel is meant to open on 1st Dec however I was then told that it would open for the public on 21st Dec. I have asked Fabio for some photographs of possible ceremony and reception sites but he said he would not be able to provide these until mid Dec - early Jan. I have previously asked on here before if anyone has done a site visit but no one responded There is a small review in this topic http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t31547 If I get any more info, i will be pass it on to you all.
