The bride who was married in January was Sarah (SarahandTrevor), but she hasn't posted to the forum, I don't think, since just before they left.

Hopefully she'll come back and fill us in! I'm sure things have just been busy with them getting back and returning to a life NOT filled with Bridal stuff!

  2. Hey V...

I'm sure I could come up with a list of 100 Questions...but I would never waste your time like that! cheesy.gif

One of the things...if you think of it...is...if you're on 5th Ave...could you just note the price of Maraccas for me?

I'm so excited for you, and I know your review is going to be nothing but stellar!

Good luck with everything...and I anxiously await your return (and envy every moment you're in that warm weather)!

  3. I missed you guys...and just needed to post!! LOL

I've just been planning the last little details for decorations at our AHR the weekend after we get back from Mexico. I bought some fake diamondy things for all the tables (we're having a Hollywood Romance theme - and I thought these would glam it up a bit)!

The RSVPs are starting to trickle in for that event...but the suggested deadline in the invites was March 20th...and we've only received...well, less than half! I guess I start calling next weekend!

I've also taken a huge step towards...fashion (?) in the sense that, after wearing glasses for 20 years...I've gotten contacts! For our wedding pictures, I will wear my glasses during all the getting ready shots and such (as I've had glasses my whole life), but the main photos, I'll wear the contacts! I think in 20 years when I'm looking back at our wedding photos...they won't seem so dated this way! Am I lame?!

Anyways...I just needed something to report to my girls (and boy)!

Hope the rest of you are doing good! VERONICA...only 10 more days...no 9 more days!!! What day do you leave?!

    xoxo

  4. Veronica, Veronica, Veronica!!!

You little Martha Stewart you!!!! I love everything you designed! Isn't Photoshop great?!

You look absolutely gorgeous in your dress...he's gonna melt - and the heat will have nothing to do with it!

    I love everything you've planned...

Did you just buy your Coach clutches online?

xoxoxo Congrats...You leave in less than two weeks...holy crapola.

    Man, I hear ya!

I can't remember if I posted this or not either...but...for the fabric panels for the gazebo...$250USD...

You know...I'm in the wrong business. $250 Fabric Panels, $500 dance floor, $50 pp food (at an all inclusive)...

Wedding coordinating ... that's where its at!

I want to know how Geminie got the light up dance floor for free!!!! I want the dance floor to light up...but I absolutely refuse to pay $500USD for it.

The reason I asked the question about "How much were you told you'd have to pay..." is because months ago, I had emailed Micaela about this, and she said, if we were playing the music ourselves, we would not have to pay any fee...

    Oh the mixed communications...god damn.

What were you told you would pay to have someone run the iPod and equipment for you?

I thought we would use an iPOD, but now, I think we'll just burn some CDs and let them go...

We won't be playing specific music for cake cutting and such in Mexico...just for first dance, father/daughter dance.

There are so many details, like this one, where I really have no idea what else I should be planning, or how it will all pan out...

Trista definitely was the girl sent home at the FINAL rose ceremony - and it was so sad!, I know this because that was the only season I watched every episode...though..now I can't remember the guys name! cheesy.gif

Do the participants get..paid...to be on the show? I know the big reward is finding "True" love...but...do you think they get paid to be there too?! Just curious!

But, I got frustrated when by BFF (a single female traveling alone) told me that her parents "begged" her to not go to the wedding. UGH. That's something that a bride never wants to hear. Our wedding is the root of some mother's worry.

Here's the official email we sent to our confirmed wedding guests:

    "Hola Amigos!

We are two weeks away from cold margaritas and warm Mexican beaches! We are so excited!

A few of you have voiced concerns regarding the recent reports on increased violence in Mexico. We want our Wedding Week to be a perfect experience for everyone, so we've done some research. Here is the link to the U.S. State Department's Mexican Travel Alert. Please read this info carefully. Also, here is a link regarding Spring Break Travel Safety in Mexico.

Please note that the majority of violence is happening in U.S. Border cities. However, it is essential that we all travel together and use precaution.

Please send us your flight information. We will send a consolidated spreadsheet with everyone's flight info and cell phone numbers. Let's use the buddy system and watch out for each other.

We feel great about Playa del Carmen and the Royal Resort. This is a safe city that revolves around tourism. But, it never hurts to be cautious.

Let us know if you have any questions. We want everyone to feel safe and secure about the upcoming events.

    Love,
    Veronica and Will"
I think that is great! Covers all your bases, without sounding alarmed yourself! Perfect. If you're not concerned, then I think that will be relayed to your guests...you'd never put them in a situation you felt was unsafe.

I still cannot believe its only two weeks away for you. That is unbelievable. I cannot wait to hear all about your experience (I hope you don't disappear immediately following the wedding)! and see your pictures (if you're willing to share)!

I'm so excited for you V! If you need anything in these last few weeks...let us know!

Most of the reports and advisories I have seen are more directed towards Northern Mexico...

Here are a few recent examples (Drug Cartels are REALLY bad - not sure if this is "new" or not though)...

    Travel Report for Mexico

    I just read this quote:

"You have to make a distinction between the border incidents that are going on and the places like Playacar, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta, which are exceedingly safe," said Terry Denton, president of the Travel Leaders travel agency in Fort Worth.

I really think the media reports, maybe in excess, this time of year...Spring Break is coming...and I think it is a precaution for all those young, spring breakers!

Shay, I LOVE your invitations. They are so cool---very original!

Here's a quick subject change: Have any of you guys been keeping up with the increased violence in Mexico? A couple of my wedding guests (single ladies) are freaked out by the media coverage regarding Mexican drug cartel. I am trying to do damage control and convince them that Cancun and Playa del Carmen are completely safe. Have any of you had any issues with this so far?

This is the last thing I thought I would worry about when planning a wedding.

Ok, ladies. I'm oficially next! :) I am so excited and ready!!

    xoxo,
    V.
    Hey V....

Thanks for the invitations comment! I am pretty proud of them...I hope one day, to be able to make some money doing stuff like that for other brides!

Regarding the Mexico - Violence topic...

If it comes up again, this is what I would say to my guests...

Though unfortunate, the violence we've been hearing about in Mexico is really not unlike any other incident in any other country.

I really believe that, if you use the same safety precautions you would in any other country while travelling, you will be fine. The alerts all advise that, if you follow the basic rules, you should be exempt from any violent acts:

    - Don't allow yourself to travel alone at night
    - Don't become intoxicated without being in the company of a designated chaperon
    - Avoid putting yourself in any situation that may involve illegal activities, and if you should find yourself in this situation, try to alert the authorities immediately
    - If you notice suspicious behavior, contact authorities, or notify hotel personnel immediately

I know the topic has come up on occasion with our group also, and I have stressed to our guests, that, when in doubt, just stay on the property. The Royal offers more than enough to occupy ones attention, and...to be safe, stay near the hotel. We're lucky, because 5th is RIGHT there...and...

Sorry...I won't ramble. Basically, I think it will be fine. One thing we are doing for our guests, is we're offering walkie talkies (cheap $20 sets from Canadian Tire) in their OOT bags. Each of us will have one (we have a small group)...so...that will be nice!

I can't believe your wedding is in T-20 days!!!!! I'm so freakin excited for you!

Most probably...I would verify with your wedding coordinator, but you two are definitely sharing a day. I think this is a first (at least that I have seen) at the Royal...maybe they don't realize it yet?

    Keep us posted!

I like what I see so far...

I don't think you can upload just jpgs, so...that might be the problem?

If you ever needed, you could email me them, and I could photobucket those bad boys for ya!

My FI and I enjoyed doing the invitations SO much, we actually would like to do other people's...maybe even start a small business.

We have selected the Luxury Package and I think...we're using EVERYTHING the package offers. Overall...I feel it is saving us a bundle...when we itemized everything...it was WAY more expensive for all the little add-ons (ie. flowers, cocktail hour, decorated reception area, dance floor, etc).

Depending on your package, the hotel offers preparation of suits and dresses for you.

If your package doesn't include this, you can certainly request it! I'm not sure of the fee though...

I'm asking my Air Canada rep if we can hang our suit and dress in the First Class Closet...but honestly...as long as its with me on the plane...I'll just make sure I take advantage of the steaming included in our package at the hotel!

    Aww...thanks V...all of you!

I've been working hard...and it IS paying off...I still have some work to do...but I'm feeling like I'll be able to pull it off now!

    cheesy.gif Veil #2 it is.

Yesterday I waivered, and was going to pick the first one, the longer, plainer one (and maybe embellish it a bit on my own)...but...the 2nd veil really does go well with the dress...and...that's that!

I just have to make the decision.

Thank you all again.! Love ya!
  17. Thank you my girls!!! I loves ya!

I LOVE my dress...and it fit so good yesterday, which was a HUGE relief that my hard work has begun to pay off. As for my arms, if they aren't in as good of shape as I'm hoping by the time the wedding actually arrives, I'm sure that I can talk with our photographer and just make sure she is aware of my issues (!) and works around them! If possible!! It's all in the angle of the shot.

I'm going to have my hair similar to what it was in the pictures I just posted...only all the little strands hanging down will be pinned up also. No flyaways...

The 2nd veil, that I and everyone else is sort of in agreement is nicer...is actually quite long and the way the bottom tier is cut...it sort of shortens as it gets closer to the top of my body...which adds a nice short panel of coverage over the top of my arms (if it perfectly rests there!). Not chapel length long, but butt length.

I'm going to attach another picture (don't mind my expression!), just for you girls, of the side view of the veil. In comparison to the chapel length and the decorated veil (#1 and #2 respectively), the 2nd veil actually felt heavier...maybe because it was a two tier (instead of the single chapel) and the beading on it.

Anyways...I have until Thursday to decide on the veil, but I'm definitely liking the 2nd one the best right now. My mom likes the detailing, and the veil is really more for her than me!!! but deep down, I do really love it!

If you have anymore advice or tips...throw them at me! I Love you of your feedback and thank you for taking the time!!
