  1. Club Med does allow kids now. In fact, this used to be a singles resort, but is now one of Cancun's best family friendly resorts. I realize all this wedding planning and site comparison can be overwhellming. However, do the site inspections and be prepared to be treated like kings and queens when you do. Just try to enjoy yourselves and take lots of notes so you can remember your trip. Otherwise, everything will become a blur after a few days. I guess the upside to that is you can always plan a return trip to do everything all over again, LOL!!! Have Fun Planning Your Special Day, 212eric
  2. You've come to the right place to post questions about the resort and Cancun, the people who post here are real experts, so feel free to ask away. 212eric
  3. I enjoyed staying at the Club Med Cancun Yucatan last year when it reopened. It is a family friendly resort now, as opposed to before the hurricane struck when it was an adults only property. I am sure you will have a wonderful time there as there is so much the resort offers for all its guests, both young and old. This forum is a great place for getting great info on weddings in Cancun, you've come to the right place. Bienvenido, 212eric-Author PEOPLE'S CHOICE GUIDE CANCUN
  4. Perhaps the best reason I give for booking a wedding in the Cancun Hotel Zone, as opposed to Riviera Maya/Playa Del Carmen is that your guests will have options and freedom. The options and freedom go hand in hand because what you find in the Hotel Zone as far as great restaurants, shopping, entertainment, bars, clubs, etc., etc, you will not find in the other places you are considering. This is not to say that the resorts offer many amenities in Riviera Maya, but Cancun as a whole offers much more. If you decide on the Hotel Zone as your destination, your choice will be made easier, so first I recommend you consider area first, then narrow it down to resorts. That's my dos centavos. 212eric
  5. The Barcelo Tucancun is not as Mexican feeling as the Costa, however everyone that I have spoken with seems to agree that the Tucancun has it over the Costa for one reason, the Caribbean Sea. 212eric
  6. This may start to read a little something like a famous beer commercial from the eightees: Cabo, CANCUN, CABO,... Cancun..., CABO, CANCUN..., well you get the picture. I think posting in both places would give you a good perspective on different reasons from those who prefer one over the other. My recommendation is to start to make a list of the pros and cons of both to help you come to a decision. Have Fun Planning Your Special Day, 212eric
  7. Not to say anything negative about the Moon but I would choose Dreams for much the same reasons others already gave. The Hotel Zone offers so much more as far as nightlife, shopping, restaurants and things to do that you just cannot find at resorts that are located in the Riviera Cancun and Riviera Maya. Therefore, my vote is to go with the Dreams Resort, plus you gotta love their on-site dolphins (who doesn't love dolphins, LOL!?!?). Have Fun Planning, 212eric
  8. I'm surprised nobody has offered to make the supreme sacrifice of taking your friend's place yet, LOL!!! Like everyone else said, if you need anything then please ask, and congratulations on the big date soon approaching. 212eric
  9. I will also agree that Isla Mujeres is a great place to spend the day, however here is something else to consider. You can take a ferry over with Dolphin Discovery and do a dolphin swim. I know, I know, this may be a bit touristy, but it was such a fantastic way to start the day. If you go early enough, not only will you avoid a good amount of the tourist crowds, but you'll also be left with a good amount of time to tour the island on own self guided day trip. Finally, my favorite restaurant on the island is located on Playa Lancheros. The specialty dish is a BBQ fish known as Tikkin-Xic (pronounced Teek-een-cheeck). 10. The Hilton is doing the right thing by not charging, and personally I had no idea that resorts in Cancun were still doing this. I find it really ties people's hands and forces them to choose something they otherwise may not want. I wonder, has anyone else run into the same issue, where a resort forced you to hire their pre-selected musical groups? If so, can you name the resort and when it happened? I think this would be so helpful for everyone to know, in advance of booking a resort to hold a wedding. Thanks in advance, 212eric
  11. Yes welcome, I am new to this board too and am so happy I found it. Great people post here and everyone is so friendly and helpful. 212eric
  12. Hola, I should be able to point you in the right direction. Please tell me what type of music style you want the band to play? I am new to this board so if I do not spot your post in the next day or so, please get in touch with me, I don't want to leave you hangning. Have Fun Planning Your Special Day, 212eric
  13. Hola everyone, I am a travel author who writes about Cancun. I occasionally receive emails asking about how to set up a Cancun wedding, and this is the reason I have registered on this forum. If you are planning to get married in Cancun, I am not just interested in learning about your experience after the event, but I may be able to give you advice in order to prepare for it as well. The Hotel Zone is home to hundreds of well-known Cancun restaurants, clubs, lounges and of course resorts with lavish ballrooms and catering services. I have had the opportunity to sample a substantial amount of these venues during various conventions I attended, and may be able to point you in the right direction. Anyway, that's about it for now. I can't wait to start reading some of the posts here, I'm really happy I found this bulletin board.
