  1. I'm considering both of these complexes for my wedding, and I was wondering if anyone has spent time at both or could give me some of the pros/cons that they encountered at each of these places! I've heard that the beach at the Palladium resorts is ok to go topless at (at a family friendly resort??), and I was wondering if anyone had troubles with that. Is it the same at Barcelo, and I just haven't heard about it yet? Thank you!
  2. KCNBT- Well, I'm mostly looking at the Riviera Maya now- I like the ease of getting to Cancun, but Cancun seems so commercialized, and, as silly as this may sound- I'd really like to do a trash the dress session at one of the ruins w/ cenotes and such, but I don't want that to be a 2 hour drive (one way) from the resort we are staying at- talk about a long day! So right now the only Cancun resort I'm thinking about is Dreams Cancun, and they fill up quick on dates, so I don't know! I'm looking at the Barcelo resorts in Puerto Aventuras quite intensely at the moment, as well as the Catalonia Riviera Maya (though their rooms don't look quite as nice). I am also thinking about the Dreams Puerto Aventuras that will be opening later this year. I'm leery since it hasn't opened yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about the Dreams resorts, and their beach looks nice, so we'll see. Good luck!
  3. I'm really looking at one of the Barcelo resorts, and I your pictures and review have definitely moved it up to the top for me. I was just wondering if it was difficult to get an outside photographer in? I was planning on using a local photographer (but not theirs), but now I'm thinking about flying someone in, and I'm concerned about them not being allowed to do photography (though honestly, if I'm paying for them to stay 3 nights, they aught to be able to do whatever the heck they want!!).
  4. Does anyone know if this resort will allow you to have a private cocktail hour before going to the restaurant, or if they have any sort of option for you to set up music or whatever for your first dance and/or cake cutting?
  5. KCNBT- I'm working on getting the choices narrowed down! Its so hard to do b/c I want to get a great site, but we can't afford to do a site visit, so its just kind of a toss-up until we actually get there! How is your search going?
  6. Wow! Your wedding looks like it was fantastic! I just started considering this resort, and I was wondering if you have any tips on booking and how much things cost? Also- how did you rate the beach while you were there? The pictures look great, but I don't know what the current status of the beach is!
  7. Well, I think we will switch to an adults only after the wedding, but there is one girl who will be attending who hasn't even hit 16 yet, so we need a family friendly resort to start with!
  8. I'm planning a May 09 wedding right now, and I had been looking at the Mexican Riviera, but I'm just not pleased with the beach views that I've been finding, so now I'm looking elsewhere, and some of you have gorgeous beach shots from Jamaica. I've done some looking, but there are so many threads that my head is starting to spin, and I'd appreciate any input you ladies might have on specific resorts that you got married at or have visited and dealt with the wedding department at. Thank you so much!
  9. So I may have missed it in all the different posts on this thread- I'm considering Moon Palace, but one thing that is really important to me is having a nice beach to lay out on- not just pools. How is the beach at Moon Palace?
  10. Thanks so much for posting all those pictures! I haven't quite made up my mind yet, so you've really helped me out! I'm picking between Dreams Cancun and Azul Sensatori as my top hotels right now, so we'll see what happens, but your pictures were amazing!
  11. I'm really happy I found this thread. I'm seriously thinking about going to Dreams Cancun for my wedding, but I'm very annoyed with the thought of not being able to pick my own vendor for photography! However, thanks to those who posted the website for the actual resort photographer- he is much better than what I expected from a resort photographer! I'm going to see what my budget is, he may end up doing my pictures anyway if I do go to Dreams, but it is nice to know I have options!
  12. This is great information! I'm really considering Dreams Cancun, and your pictures helped! Some of the pictures I've seen have made the resort look very cement and unwelcoming, but yours all looked very nice!
  13. Oh! Ok, that makes MUCH more sense! Thank you so much for donating some points to me!
  14. Nearly everytime I try to access a powerpoint or document that someone has posted, the site tells me I don't have enough points. What in the heck does that even mean? How do I get more points?
